  • Glad it gave you some food for thought. It's so easy to get a bit blind to other options when you're looking at your own rooms and you're just in that state of frustration with it. Believe me, I have been there!

Thanks Emm, I did try south-facing for the bee hotels but no takers. Looks like spiders have been in there, so maybe they raided them or put the bees off.

I do feel so much better this year, but sadly heavier than ever too. Still fighting (and losing) that battle. I recall you were having an op last time I posted, hope everything went well and you've recovered fully now?

Hoping for the inspiration to do a bit of cleaning this weekend. Love to all xx

Still plodding along slowly here, starting to see a difference although still a long way to go.

  • Hi Messies!

JPS, I know how you feel re the weight thing! I`m not fighting that hard, to be honest, but we do (mostly...) eat healthily, I think it`s just the quantity that`s our problem! Last year`s `biggie` was my hysterectomy/ovarian cyst - and I really did hope it would reduce my girth, but it didn`t. I had a breast tumour lumpectomy just before Christmas, then the radiotherapy in the spring, the `All Clear` was shouted and I went back to work on phased return in May. All back to what I laughingly call `normal(?)` , except now I still have one boob with a `fake suntan` and Marty Feldman nipples! (Sorry if that`s tmi.)

Re the bedroom thing - Hands Up here, mine is well overdue for a proper sort out. I`ve managed to keep on top of the kitchen & LR Pretty well, but I admit that has been achieved largely by taking stuff upstairs but not putting it away as I go.
It`s getting to critical mass stage, so I`ll have to have a day soon and just blitz it!

De-lurking to ask please what karcher machine? I need to wash all the windows of all the house, in and out! Would love to have a machine to do it for me!

It's like a little Hoover to vacuum the water from the window.

We bought it to vacuum the condensation from conservatory windows really.

There are cheaper ones than Karcher, but the flatter machine means it's easier to get a smooth suck. ( pardon) :D

Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

I got the urge this morning and made a start in my bedroom. I`ve been at it all day, including washing bedding & drying outside, putting thick fleecy under-banket out for a good airing, turning mattress, and de-cluttering a long forgotten doll`s house & contents to a new-ish neighbour for when her 6-yr old grand-daughter is there after school.
I`ve cleared bedroom desk, and put some mini shelf units (from CS, been lurking in a cluttered corner for months though) on top of desk against the wall, and re-homed my collection of audio book tapes, also slung a few that were unravelled. (WHY did I keep them??)

Just having a quick break now, but nowhere near finished...
It looks a lot better already, and I`ve managed to avoid cluttering the bed, so will make that up next. Still not much in the way of seasonal clothes sorting done, but I think that`s a whole-day job that will wait while I concentrate on a bit more de-cluttering and reclaim some more flat surfaces (including floor!)
I`m at work all day tomorrow, so will try to have an early night. I`ve thawed some cooked beef and will do steamed veg & frozen roasties with it, so a bit of freezer de-cluttering too.
I`m hardly `pinging` through it, more Ploughing, but at least I can see improvement.
    Onwards then....

Good decluttering of obsolete stuff, Emm. I noticed that we have boxes labelled 'computer stuff' and I'm pretty sure they are for old computers.

We've also got loads of LPs and CDs which OH insists on keeping.

Had a really good clean today. DS is coming over for a few days. I'm so excited, if they were all coming Id be uncontrollable and I'd have it on Wales Today!

Thank goodness you have had the all clear Emm, so glad, and it's worth wonky nipples for sure :rotfl:

I'm up early because I had an early night, even though it was Friday I just conked out. Weather's awful, so... kitchen now, doing bits and bobs of washing, breakfast in a minute, then maybe bits and bobs of hoovering and stuff upstairs.

With lots of cups of coffee and forum breaks!

    Happy Saturday messies!

  • Good Morning!

JPS - Thanks, and I`m certainly not complaining - I was hardly `page 3` potential before the op anyway!!

I got up earlier than I intended this morning too, it`s nice to wake up in a much less cluttered room! I had a very hectic day at work yesterday but ward sister has been messing around with the rota and I found I had another week off on the new rota (starts tomorrow) that she `had to fit in` somewhere. Again, I`m not complaining!

The weather is grey & wet here too, so really now I`ve no excuse for not getting on with clothes sorting and finishing the bedroom clearing, and continue trying to keep shopping to a minimum to use stuff from freezers.

But first - more coffee and catch-up with the Archers!
  • Hi Messies!

I hope everyone`s had a good weekend (especially Pol with DS visiting) and a reasonable Monday so far.
I have a confession to share, don`t know whether to pat myself on the head for my discovery, or kick myself for not seeing it sooner...after THREE whole months using my new-to-me WM and moaning about it not having a `fast wash` option, I discovered that it has one. It was there staring me in the face and I just didn`t see it, I don`t know why!
So, I`ve washed lots of stuff, mostly clothes not worn throughout the summer, and a lot of sorting has been done, but still more to sort through. Weather has been unreliable so a lot of coat hangers in upstairs doorways airing clothes, and I`m thinking it`s now cool enough to have a fire tonight, so that should speed up the airing/drying.
I`ve also stocked up on firelighters - 10 packs from Poundland now safely stashed in garden storage bench.
I was going to Henry upstairs, but gone off the idea now, I`ll leave it till the clothes are put away tomorrow!
I wish I was as quick at reading WM symbols as I am at finding excuses!!
