We had a lovely day yesterday, what a pity DiL and the gorgeous boys couldn't come.

I've just found myself ironing DS 's tee-shirts! DiL never irons!

He wants everything British, so going for an Indian tonight!

Fish and chips tomorrow. I'll be putting on more weight!

Edit: how the hell did I misspell weight!

My bedroom however is horrible! I have no idea what to do. I have clothes and no place for them. I share a chest of drawers with hubby and we get 2 drawers each. It is not enough. My closet is tiny. I have some acrylic container under the bed with yarn and shoes. I don't want to put clothes under the bed because I will never see them again. In the meantime I don't have an airing cupboard so I have a shelving unit by the bed stacked with bedsheets, towels and blankets. I feel this bedroom is my Waterloo! :-((((((
HWTHMBO and I have a bedroom that's 'just' big enough to put our double bed in, with two bedside cabinets and a small chair in one corner for his clothes plus a small oil filled radiator thing.
space is at a premium so we have hung plastic chains from hooks in our ceilings and hung up our clothes (trousers/shirts/blouses) on hangers hooked through links in the chain so the clothes hang flat against the wall.
we have small baskets under the bed for pants/socks/underwear and collapsible crates with t-shirts in.
on a shelf above our bed is 2 other collapsible crates with seasonal wear - shorts/long sleeved t-shirts/sweatshirts/vest tops.
mined ewe we do have an airing cupboard on the landing for towels and duvets and an ottoman for our bedding so I guess that's not helped much, soz.
just in case you need to know:

DS#2 - my twenty -one son
  • Hi Messies!

Pol, enjoy the fish & chips
FA, I use collapsible crates too for short-term storage (seasonal) as well as for laundry baskets.
It may sound old-fashioned, but we`ve still got the old picture rail in 2 bedrooms. I have an airing rail meant for use on radiators that sits nicely on the picture rail and here I hang all my vest tops on narrow coathangers.

    Messy Status Report-
Lots more clothes sorting done, clean stuff put away, summer skirts stashed in wardrobe in spare room of Doom.
Washed bathroom & toilet mats, mopped floors, clean mats in place.
Henry`d EVERYWHERE except DS`s pit and the inaccessible bits of spare room of Doom.
De-cluttered some YS trout fillets & a bag of garden peas from upstairs freezer for tonight.
I just stopped for a coffee break, and realised I`d not had a cigarette for ages, which is also quite pleasing. (And, since I changed the car I`ve not been smoking in the car either. Very pleased about this as it`s a habit I seem to be breaking.)
Off to do a bit more clothes sorting now, before I light another...

Make sure you have some rest during your week off, Emm!

    I feel a bit guilty,,as I'm doing sweet FA.

I'll get some wool tomorrow I think, then I wont feel lazy sitting down.

    Morning,

had a quick blitz round this morning, two minute tidy in the bedroom, henry'd downstairs, cleaned the living room and kitchen floors, quick dust in the living room and cleaned the hob and worktops. Feel much better now. The garage is jam packed full of stuff at the minute - people have been giving me tons of stuff for the charity shop. Need to get that sorted this weekend as we're having our new sofa delivered in the next few weeks and the only access is through the back of the house which means going through the garage.

    Have a good day.
  • Hi Messies!

    Alec E - sounds like you`ve been `pinging` again!!
Pol, no need to feel guilty or lazy for sitting down. I must admit I start getting restless after half an hour sitting doing nothing though. It doesn`t necessarily mean I`ll get up and do something useful though!

This week is starting to fly by, and I`ve got quite a bit done but as usual not as much as I`d aimed for.
Two high spots so far this week -
    1) Discovering the fast wash on my WM.
    2) My magic greengrocer at farm shop has sprouts on the stalk today. Yippee!!
Strange what things make us happy, isn`t it?
So, a defrosted lump of pork shoulder in the oven, and I`m going to go out and try to salvage a few more apples before they fall & rot, for apple sauce. Might commit pie as well if there`s enough - plenty in freezer but no time to defrost now.

Have a nice evening all. x

  • Dibuzz, I`m so glad to hear you had a good day with the little chaps! Far more important and rewarding than rearranging the carp around the house, so good on you!

We`ve had a lovely day here too. OH had an early routine hospital appt today, I met an old friend who I`ve hardly seen since our training days, now working on outpatient clinics, and then ... we went MILES out of our way, just for fun, and had lunch (chose the all day breakfast!) at a brilliant OS truckstop. Pigged out for the day, so not much done here when we got home!

    Yep, pinging is back!

Glad to hear you had fun with your Grandsons Dibuzz, and that you had a good day with your friend Emm.

After his initial scepticism, DH used the steam cleaner this weekend, he is in love with it! So that's a good thing. We cleaned the house on Saturday morning, which was surprisingly enjoyable for some strange reason. That meant for the rest of the weekend, other than the basics we could just have a nice, relaxing time in a shiny house.

Today I'm going to do some laundry and think I'll finally get round to finding some order in the kitchen cupboards. Have a good day everyone.
  • Hi Messies!
I hope everyone`s getting along ok, we`re all MIA lately!
I`m om my second day off, but have been/am having major upheaval upstairs. Finally decluttered a defunct single bed (with vicious springs poking out) and cleaned/cleared beneath and around where it was - now awaiting delivery of its replacement, but with storage chamber built in.
Had to clear landing and hall to get the old one out, and keep it clear to get the new one in, should be delivered anytime now....
I`m working all weekend, so cooking a large chicken and extra veg to minimise effort after work tomorrow.
Also kept up to date with laundry, so not too bad overall.

Have a decent weekend all, whatever you`re doing. x
