I loathe ironing and can't seem to find a way to avoid it though I only iron as-and-when-needed so mountains remain. I'd love to do a "skill swap" with someone but I have nothing I can really offer in return!

I don't iron so this suggestion is what I have heard others do to tackle ironing mountains. When you do get the iron out iron one more thing than you need. I know it will still take an age to get through the mountain but a tiny bit of progress is being made.

  • Good Morning!

Jackie B, many congratulations to you -
    on becoming a grandma,
    on losing so much weight,
    on having an empty bath.
( And the ironing, if you really must!)
It`s not a boot you need hun, it`s a great big pat on the back and a thankyou for sharing and inspiring us with what you`ve managed to do!

I have lots to do, but had a lie-in till 9 this morning (no apologies for that, yesterdays long-day at work was good but very busy, and got even busier in the evening!)
So far I`ve done pots, cleared sink & tops so kitchen looks better, and used that bit as `thinking time`, then guzzled more coffee and made a list a bit like the lists I make for tasks at work, keep in pocket and tick as things get done. I`m quite well organised there, so trying to carry over a bit of that methodical approach to stuff at home!
    It might help me `ping`!
Honestly, if we tackled work like the way I lurch from task to task at home the ward would be like MASH meets Fawlty Towers!!

You've made me think I'd better Hoover and dust the place.

Hairdresser is coming later and she's bringing her baby. Excited to see him and have a cwtch.

  • Hello again -
Well, I`ve certainly `pinged` since my earlier post -
Fed WM 1 load then been to bank, paid water bill, then farmshop & Lidl, home to put washing out, 2nd load in, shopping put away, then out again (other direction) to Asda (rolled fresh pizza bases £1 each , got 5!) then Farmfoods for noodles for DGD`s breakfasts, home, put away, 2nd load of washing hung upstairs, first load still outside but not dry.

DGD is arriving later today, and DS`s GF tomorrow. I`m working all day Sunday, so need to be organised today and relax a bit tomorrow.
I`ve also managed to nag DS successfully not to leave all his grot to the last minute,( I must be a bit more scarey when I`m being efficient!!)the 2 WM loads are his stuff, and I now have a sinkful of dirty pots from his room, have washed and put them away too. I`ve made a start on a curry for tomorrow night, (2 pork shanks slow cooked already, just needed taking apart and currying, will taste better made ahead). We`re having Chinese pork king ribs tonight, with rice noodles and mushrooms and the roasting juices mixed in, so that`s an easy one once the ribs are in the oven.
I`ve cleaned both loos, and now chance to get on with a bit of LR cleaning & rug-changing next, before I run out of `ping`and make a fire - dry DS`s jeans on fireguard as well.
Pats self on head and slurps more coffee....
Tomorrow I intend to make Chinese pork meatballs ready to cook after work on Sunday, and no doubt there`ll be some pizza activity as well.
    Onwards then...

Must be something the North Wales air, Emm. I've been like a whirling dervish.

Went to Wrexham shopped in Debenhams and did the good shopping at Sainsburys to use the £4 off £20 coupon. Managed to get bill to £21.36, so good discount.

Hoovered through , but only managed to dust living room.

Really enjoyed my cwtch with hairdresser 's gorgeous baby,
Now, shall I start knitting for the boys!

A lot of you put me to shame. You have an excuse to be a bit messy, you work. I gave up work almost 3 years ago thinking I would get miracles done - pfft! :rotfl:

My husband works away for weeks at a time - last time was 7, and then he's home, this time he's been home for about 5. He goes away on Monday again and he might be away until almost Christmas.
I will be posting here more often once he goes back as I want to get stuff done before Christmas and surprise him with a more organised house. :)

I don't have an excuse to be messy, Jackie. Happily retired.

I think my troubles are twofold : a hoarder husband,,who puts things down 'for now', coupled with the fact that I had a cleaner while I was working .

I'd have one now if I could justify it! Lazy thing,,aren't I?
