  • Hi Messies!
Ginny, lovely to hear from you again, I`m sorry you`ve been laid up but very glad to hear you`re getting on top of things. I can`t bear having the telly on in the day myself - but radio 4 is ok to listen to/ignore, I take the radio from room to room.

Well, DGD and DS`s GF have both gone home again, it feels a bit quiet here today. Littly dog is missing all the extra fusses too.
I`ve done 3 loads of laundry, a bit of shopping, and it`s dark already. Leftover SC brisket & carrots, with frozen roasties and frozen giant Yorkshire puds tonight (can fit more gravy on our plates without spilling!)
I`ve been quite warm in short sleeves today but it`s getting that evening chill now, so time to make the fire.

    Have a nice evening all.x

    Noodles for breakfast?!!!!!

A typical Japanese breakfast is brown rice, green leafy veg, stock and a poached egg :) I tried it for a while, it takes some getting used to but once you're used to having savoury things for breakfast it's really nice! The only downside is that it's not exactly quick to make when you're in a rush.

Breakfast in our house was whatever they felt like, I'd rather they had something strange than nothing before school.

  • Hi all

Nice to see you Gilly, sorry to hear you have been poorly but it sounds like you have been keeping busy. And I agree spending too much time on the internet is not a good idea, well with the exception of being on here of course.

Lots going on with me as ever. Work has been manic, we still havent finished putting in the new kitchen but its progressing nicely and we have had quite a few hospital appointments with DS.

I am on hols until Monday so I want to try and catch up with a few jobs at home tomorrow. I did fill a charity shop bag with unwanted clothes yesterday and there is more to get rid of.

Oh and I am working my way through old paperwork too but just keep doing a bit at a time or I will never do it all!
  • I have changed my mind FOUR times today about meals for today & tomorrow, finally come up with a plan that means nothing gets wasted or put in freezer (Chinese meatballs, crispy fried savoy outer leaves, and leftover roasties, plus a jar of Lidl `Asian salad` for tonight. Leftover brisket, with the chopped veg & gravy it was cooked in, plus a jacket spud each for tomorrow night after work. Phew!)
I`ve had variations going round in my head since I got up this morning. Buying a lovely big savoy cabbage at farmshop then caused further indecision...the outer leaves were squeaking when handled, like only very fresh stuff does.
I`ve also managed to give the LR wooly rugs a shake outside, and do another WM load (towels) & dry outside.
Could have done lots more, but didn`t.

This lovely weather energises me. Done loads of shopping, although Aldi drove me mad it was so packed and the aisles are narrow. Made a chocolate bread and butter pud for Sunday , in fridge for 48 hours as delia says.

Washed and ironed bedding. Going to bash on with Aran sweater for GDS 1 now.

I dither over meals, too, Emm. And I'm not usually the cook. OH does mains, I'll do puddings.

    Hello and welcome esmf73

Could've kicked myself. Should've watched the weather forecast last night and done a couple of loads of washing ready to hang out this morning as it's a lovely day. Have a load in just now though. That's the worst of hanging out this time of the year - it gets dark early and you have to take everything in before it gets damp again.

The livingroom is half decent - I still have loads of stuff but it's piled up and the seats are all empty. Put it this way, I wouldn't die of shame if anyone came in right now lol anyone 'normal' would probably be aghast at the stuff I have lying around though.

I've not ironed in a few days and it's starting to pile up so that's my plan for today. Doing some dishes first as there's not a huge amount. I dont know about anyone else but one of my pet peeves is when people just keep piling stuff into the sink when it's full! I always tell them to leave it on the side as I hate having to empty the sink before I wash the dishes.
