My home is a mess

Good morning everyone,
For probably the first time ever, other than the everyday things like washing up and dealing with rabbits, there's nothing I need to do today!
I will need to change the sheets on the spare bed as we had visitors this weekend, but as it's raining there's no point. So I'm just free to either do something that can be done but is never a high priority, or have a nice time relaxing. This day may never come again! Plus the new sofa is arriving this afternoon.
Hope you are all having an OK time of it.0 -
Hi Messies!
I typed a long post yesterday and it disappeared, then visitors turned up so I gave up!
Gilly, the modified hours and no on-call sounds fine to me, less stress even if you love the work. Chance to have a decent home/work balance, while you can.
Alec E, I can honestly never remember a time when I could say there was nothing I should be doing/making a start on - but I have got very good at ignoring & procrastinating over the years! And deciding I`d rather do X than Y...
This long weekend has been quite busy in some ways, mostly faffing with cooking (which I`ve enjoyed and others have enjoyed the outcomes) but no overall progress in the rest of the house.
But then again, nowhere has got any worse.
We`ve had DGD here, trashed & untrashed kitchen a few times, trashed & untrashed LR a couple of times, and just about kept on top of laundry.
Filled up car yesterday with 10p/litre off coupon at Mr.M`s.
Bins & recycling out this morning.
Today, I just need to plan ahead for meals/shopping basics as I`ve got a heavy stretch starting tomorrow - 4 longdays in next 6 days. It`s not as bad as it sounds if I`m organised.....
Have a nice Monday all. x0 -

Sent home from work today as broke down, I feel so useless and such a failure. It wasn't even work that caused me to get stressed. Back at the docs at 4300 -

Sorry gilly, I've only just seen this as I don't spend much time online these days.
I hope the doc was helpful and you're starting to feel better.
My house is still a mess but it's caused more by spending time with my beautiful grandsons rather than the depression.
I'm decorating the living room which I started 2 years ago and am now determined to get things sorted out. I've done a lot of decluttering recently but there's lots more to do.
I hope everyone is well.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Hi Messies.
Gilly, so sorry to hear your news, and that I wasn`t able to post sooner. I do hope you`re feeling better by now, and do be more gentle on yourself.
Dibuzz, glad to hear from you too, and that you`re able to enjoy time with your grandsons.
Also, I hope all you other Messies MIA are doing ok too.
I`ve had a few troubles lately, and let it get me down. (A couple of big rows with DS, computer trouble - and not getting DS to sort it out as we weren`t speaking, tired from work and dis-heartened at home....doing a bit of doll-making in my bits of `spare` time just to keep sane.
Anyway, the rows have blown over and peace has broken out again, and DS has sorted the computer out too.
But, the house is a bit chronic again, and the sewing stuff hasn`t helped that at all! Progress is slow on the doll projects although I`m pleased with results so far. I`ve got a fair bit of Christmas shopping done, had coal and logs delivered and chimney swept - these are things that normally cheer me up, but I can`t get enthusiastic about things somehow. Need a good kick up the @rse I suppose, and should start counting my blessings instead of having a moan.
Drags self off to count blessings......x0 -
Hi all :j
I don't post often although a long-time lurker as am a proper messy hoarder & just wanted to reply....just wondering if the dismal weather is having a depressing effect on others ...sure it is on me tbh.
Doesn't help as we have 3 large dirty dogs - & 2 cats - so my life is cleaning rather than clearing atm, feel like nothing is getting done. And next week have 3 different workmen coming to exchange gas meter - in cellar  - then service Aga - in kitchen :eek: and check gas fire - in dining room :eek: then remove 3 elec meters - also in cellar :eek::eek: To get there they have to come through front & back halls....oh my word.
DH must have noticed at the weekend I looked a bit unhappy so asked me what was wrong....I usually say 'nothing' but this time I said, 'well I feel overwhelmed'. I have no idea what you mean he said .....
I should say he works from home but does no actual domestic work..
Anyhow, I have cleared some of the kitchen, some of the cellar & he has looked at what needs to be done in there & is going to 'lend a hand'...luckily I will be out most of the day when they are here so will be spared the embarrassment LOL.
I just wish I could do some nice Christmassy things instead of all the cleaning & clearing. Hope you all get some mojo back - I am now off to tackle a bit more here & there. It will be done!!!

Sorry things are getting to you Emm, hope things improve.
What sort of dolls do you make?
I'm still decorating but seem to be getting somewhere now, just need to do some more filling then I'm ready to paint.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Hi Messies.
Sashanut - `overwhelmed` just about sums things up really. I don`t have as much cause as you, with various workmen coming to do their thing, and now I only have one small (and to be fair, rather clean!) dog and one cat, and OH and DS are no messier than usual, but - just keeping afloat with the basic necessities feels like a treadmill marathon!!
I`m sure the weather isn`t helping either.
Dibuzz, I`m glad the decorating is going well, hats off to you for persevering!
Re the dolls - back in the `80`s Simplicity did a pattern called `Precious Pals`, for cabbage-patch look-alikes. The pattern has been out of print since `89, apparently, but I made SO many of those dolls years ago that I pretty much remember the shape of all the pieces - I`ve got 3 on the go and they look ok, if not quite the exact proportions of the originals.
Now it`s the clothes that are the problem, but there`s ways round it - all trial and error!
It`s really busy at work, but my days off seem so much more unproductive lately - and shorter! Doesn`t help that I`m so good at wasting time, putting things off, and seem to be in a `potter slowly` mood when I do get started on something!
Messy Status Report -
Kitchen- sink & worktops clear, I`m keeping on top of that and washing up as a priority. But kitchen floor is dreadful!
LR - windowsills & mantelpiece clear (another priority thing) but dusty, floor & rugs will do till weekend, sofa cluttered with bags of doll-stuff & laundry to put away.
Hall/stairs/landing - a bit cluttered but ok for now...
Bedroom - awful. Clothes all over the place, some pressies stashed, floor needs Henrying.
Working tomorrow & Friday, so need to shop & cook ahead today.
I hope all Messies MIA are doing ok, have a nice afternoon all. x0 -
I keep disappearing but I am still here!
I just ordered a mop for kitchen and bathroom. I was doing it by hand but now I've got a bad knee and can't bend down for very long.
I moved some furniture out of my bedroom and I am decluttering and throwing away like mad.
I wish I was faster but this week DS and I have a cold and it makes moving so hard...............................................................................

Good Morning Messies!
I`m still here too, but time to read & post seems increasingly scarce - despite not having much to show for the time spent elsewhere apart from work and sleep!
I can`t really blame Christmas preparations either because I`ve spent relatively little time, the Christmassy stuff I have sorted has been pretty simple in short bursts so far.
I now have 3 days off, and I`m determined to get some cleaning & clearing done before the weekend, and work.
I just hope Henry hasn`t seized up from disuse!0
