I agree about it not being the same without a pet. When our previous rabbit died we said we'd wait a while before getting another, so we could do things like go away on holiday and all the other stuff we can't/won't do when we have pets. But I saw this pair on the rescue site, they'd been in rescue for such a long time and no-one was interested in them that I felt so sad I couldn't stop thinking about them. we just love them, even though they're nightmares in fur.
We did a big clean up of the living area on Monday night, so it looks about as good as it can. We'll probably end up doing a few things around the house this weekend if it's going to be as hot as the news is claiming. We bought some garen chairs on Sunday so we might even be able to sit out in a shady bit of the garden for the first time *yay*.
I've been at the charity shop every day this week so I'm going to catch up on some bits and bobs today, want to have everything as nice as possible for the weekend. Hope everyone is OK.0 -
Hi Messies!
Hope everyone`s ok, the forum seems quieter and folks probably MIA making the most of the hot weather/school holidays.
We attended a wedding on Friday, it was a hectic run-up but it went so well, a lovely day all round - and no thunder!
I just wanted to slob out on Saturday, but `twas not to be - had to run DGD and her friend here & there most of the afternoon, then up at 6 today for the early shift.
Apart from spilt loom bands all over DGD`s room, and a couple of WM loads waiting, the place isn`t too bad now that I`ve un-trashed the kitchen.
As long as you don`t look too closely....
Papers & junk mail build-up in computer corner, but hasn`t reached critical mass yet.
I`ve got a lump of pork shoulder in the oven and a WM load about to finish. Have to prep some veg now then I`m not doing any more. And I`ll sit down to do that, my feet are complaining already.
Hope everyone`s having a good weekend.0 -
Hi all
We have been away for the weekend and had a lovely relaxing time. Been home for two hours and the kids are at each others throats. DS2 has now locked himself in his bedroom crying and refuses to come out so I have left him to it. I could cry too, I am so sick of this. I know its a teenage thing (my brother and I were horrendous apparently) but its like living in a war zone. They will have a massive argument about the smallest thing.
The way they are at the moment I am fretting about leaving them on their own in the holidays - although it will only be for 3 hours a day, and then not every day. Our dog gets really anxious about the kids fighting and has been known to wade in there and try and sort it out. Another thing to worry about. Sigh.
Anyhow, all that aside I have had a nice weekend. The house is not too bad, could be better but could be worse too. Have just hung some washing out and I am hoping its stays dry, its so hot and sticky!0 -
My house is more of a tip than ever, had a few bad weeks and have done very little.
For the first time in weeks I've done all the dishes and have an empty sink.
I've only been getting 2 hours sleep most nights and didn't sleep at all last night so don't feel like doing much.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Hugs Dibuzz, keep posting on here and stuff the housework, just take care of yourself. I have nothing much to report, bit of cleaning and tidying done in between paid stuff. Beautiful weather, shame to be at work!0

Hi Dibuzz, missed you here. Well done with empty sink and as YL says, the rest will keep! Take care. x0

Evening all!
I am UTTERLY pooped now! I did an early shift today (hence last post at 25 to 7, very early and brief but was so glad to hear from Dibuzz again!) then went to farmshop on way home...I`ve got a humungous lump of pork shoulder in the oblong cast iron thing in the oven, with ginger, honey butternut and carrots.
We have a funeral tomorrow, then I`m going in to work a bit later than usual, so I`ll not need to cook tomorrow as there`ll be loads left from tonight.
I`ve cleared up after myself, and, perhaps inspired by Dibuzz`s post, have left the sink clear and almost shiny!
The rest of the house will just have to do.
Have a nice evening all. x0 -
I've just put some salmon in the oven, covered in Kentucky barbecue sauce. We are having it with Jasmine rice.
I've cleared the sink again, emptied the bin and done loads of washing.
It's far too hot for me and I'm still struggling with the new meds, don't really know if I'm coming or going half the time.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Hi all. I am sooo tired. You just dont sleep the same in this heat do you? I went for a run this morning, then had to do an unexpected site visit at work which involved a lot of walking and it was so hot.
Not complaining about the sunshine mind you, but working in it isnt always fun.
Your salmon sounds lovely Dibuzz, I fancied scampi, chips and salad for tea so called into Lidl on the way home. Hope things settle down with the new meds soon, make sure you speak to the doc if not. I am probably speaking too soon but DS seems on a fairly even keel at the moment which is a relief.
Wont be late to bed tonight thats for sure!0 -
I've not done much in the house apart from washing but have been to Tesco and Costco then fell asleep for an hour when I got in.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140
