Good on you, Dibuzz! I`m not in relax mode yet - it`s still too hot outside, so I`ve ended up putting a WM load on and drinking some more lukewarm tea. I`m trying to get DS to put a new washing line up for me as my second line is broken. We`ve had the debate about which tree it`s getting tied to (same as before, why did we need to debate this??) and he said he`ll do it but no sign of putting his boots on yet..0

I've done just the same, put a load of towels in at just before 6 pm. The sun is still warm as is the wind. Lovely!

£122 in Tesco
I did get all the big and heavy stuff though so not as bad as it looks.
Yesterday was a lazy day, lots of falling asleep in front of the tv then out for tea with eldest.
More book sorting this afternoon I think, some of them must be 40 years old and I don't want to part with them but there are some that can go.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Evenin`all!
Dibuzz, I`m with you on the old books thing - this house is full of books, and although they take up lots of shelf space there`s no point in getting rid of things you want to keep just for the sake of it. Some books are like old friends, even if you don`t look them up very often!
I`m not as tired as I thought I`d be (Very Busy early shift - and it got Quite Interesting when the sluice blocked, but they came and fixed it pdq!) Maybe cos I`m on a late tomorrow so the thought of a little lie-in helps....
I`ve put a lump of thawed YS brisket in slow-cooker for tomorrow night, and tonight I`ll fry OH a pork chop and steam a few spuds & cabbage, I fancy BLT (OH not keen) and I have some nice bread to use, so not much effort in the kitchen.
Have a nice evening everyone. x0 -
Hello Messies.
It`s a sad day here, my dear old Dafty dog died this morning and we have buried her in the garden. I am glad she died in her sleep, and that I didn`t have to decide for her that she`d had enough, and I`m glad I was off work today, but I feel so sad and heavy inside.
I`ve spent most of the day cleaning - just mindless mechanical activity to keep myself busy. The house looks better for it, but there`s a terrible gap. Dear old Dafty dog, I almost feel sorry for the bad folks who had her before us and dumped her - they`ll NEVER know how much they missed.0 -
I'm so sorry Emm.
I still haven't got over losing Steff and like you I think her previous owners have missed out on an amazing dog.
How is Littly dog?
I've had a quiet couple of days, slept most of yesterday and went to the knitting meeting this morning then did a bit of food shopping (on my own)
On Tuesday we took eldest's car for 2 new tyres and had a wander round town for a couple of hours while it was being done.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Oh, that's so sad, Emm. At least she went in her sleep.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

Hi Messies, sorry I`ve been MIA for a bit.
It feels strange not having rugs to wash and dear old Dafty dog`s `accidents` to clean up, her ageing problems had become part of household routine. Being at work and busy there has helped, and Littly dog is acting extra cute and getting extra attention and fusses. (I can`t decide if it`s her need, or her perception of my need, or both, but it`s a bit of comfort all round.)
I worked a late on Friday then an early yesterday, and DGD is here for the weekend, yesterday pm was the first chance for us to have a good cry together and reminisce about Dafty dog`s younger days, happy times when DGD was little. We took her to a picnic area at a famous local beauty spot and tried to teach Dafty to `fetch`. DGD at age 6 on all fours with a sponge ball in her mouth demonstrating what a dog is supposed to do...and other picnicers taking photos of us weird locals - some Japanese tourists were even taking movies! Dafty never did learn to `fetch`, but enjoed watching while DGD got quite good at it, with green knees and very fast on all fours. And we reminisced about the first time we took her to the seaside and she barked her head off at an empty crab shell, heckles up and really angry with it - a rare sight as she was normally quite timid. DGD & I were laughing and crying at the same time last night, and it was therapeutic sharing the many silly happy memories as well as the grief.
I now have a week off, annual leave owing, so I`m going to try to make good use of my time AND slob out a bit as well. (HA! Good Intentions again!)
Main aims for the week - use stuff in freezers, and finish sewing my outfit for that wedding next month, it`s mostly done but the finishing off bits are tedious so I procrastinate...
Dibuzz - I`m glad you`re still going to the knitting group, it sounds like a good mix having a few resting days and a few `doing` days - in fact, that`s pretty much what I fancy doing next week!
I hope everyone`s having a good weekend - far too warm to do otherwise!0
