thank you for the welcomes peeps :j

    Today:

My bed was made prior to me going to work
My sink is clear and shiny
I've shined my bathroom sink and the bath
My toilet has been swished and cleaned
I've snowballed one of my debts
Posted mail that's been sitting around all week :o

I'm glad we've got last night's left overs for supper, I'm pooped but pleased and planning on going through what we term 'the drawer of despair' in our bedroom tomorrow. I think most homes have one (or two?) :p

  • I`ve come back here to unwind.... OH is not his usual dear self at all, he looks and feels worn out and has gone to bed at 9pm. He says the pain is less, so has taken only half the dose of co-codamol this evening, and has managed to eat a bit of chicken & steamed veg. Saw GP this afternoon, he`d not had report from A&E yet, and seemed a bit ...laid back about it - yes, I know hiatus hernias are VERY common, loads of folks live happily with them quite unaware - but there are varying degrees of severity, and I`m still watching this space, but ready to launch if I feel it`s needed.
OH once described me as being `like a cruise missile` when dealing with medics on behalf of patients. True. I`m utterly carp at being the patient though, my huge ovarian cyst early last year, which resulted in hysterectomy etc., wasn`t picked up on till the 4th visit to GP! Partly my own fault cos I thought it was something I`d eaten...pathetic! This is pretty typical with nurses though. My mum was the same. And, many years ago when I had an ectopic I was convinced it was just severe wind!! We make daft excuses for our own symptoms and then sometimes see more in other folks` symptoms than may be there, but adopt the better safe than sorry thing, pester the doc with observations - happy to be proved wrong but HAVE to speak up anyway. Dot the i`s and cross the t`s.
I`ve been off work (again!) since I messed up ward Xmas rota getting treated for breast cancer. Current sick-note expires 3 weeks tomorrow, it`s been a long time. Actually, I now feel like it expired yesterday, I went straight to `nursey mode` in A&E with OH, because I HAD to, woman at desk was pathetic, but OH was all politely apologising for going in there,(he`s another nurse, typical!) so maybe wasn`t her fault , but Chest Pain - get him seen to, triage at least, dammit! THEN triage and doctor were great, but I was SO ready and watching every tiny detail by then....
Hello hospital, I`m back in `nursey mode`, don`t feel like `patient` anymore. Still got a few appointments in next couple of weeks but I feel like I`m ready and raring to go - glad it`ll be a phased return, know it`ll be hard going and at first there`ll be some stuff I can`t do, and sure the house will get messier for a bit while what passes for an apology of routine kicks in, but - I LOVE my job, know what I`m good at (and being home-all-day/every day just ain`t Me!) I`m going to watch OH, do whatever I have to re getting him sorted, and look forward to getting back where I belong, being me and doing something I do well, which isn`t being housey person!

I hope you managed to unwind and get to bed Emm, I was asleep by 10.30 and wide awake again by 12, tried everything to get back to sleep and have just given up and come downstairs.
I'm going to the knitting group meeting later this morning and not even feeling nervous about it (yet)
Youngest has finally found work, only Burger King but it will do till he finds something better.

There are some folk having a hard time of it right now ((( hugs ))) to you. I hope things improve soon.

Today is the turn of the 'draw of 'deeeespair' to be sorted. CS bag beside me I will chuck out things I haven't even looked at in years. Heaven knows what's in there, I may even find a penny or two for my sealed pot, who knows? ;)

I can't make my bed cos OH is late shift and is still in it... I feel a bit twitchy but it wouldn't be fair to make it with him in situ :rotfl:

More MIL talk. We went over last night to make sure she had the right keys and check there was nothing else she needed to know about her stay at our house. I'm not going to let it spoil our night away but the way she's talking is just odd, frankly.

She said she doesn't need anything other than the front door key as she was just going to get to the house and stay there for 24 hours (she looked a bit surprised when I asked her if she'd water my runner beans in the garden). DH joked that as soon as she arrived our neighbour would be out wanting to know who she was, she was very put off by that.

DH said she could sleep in any of the three beds and she said she was just going to stay on the sofa with a blanket over her, so when I said the rabbits were in that room and a bit noisy she looked a bit cross. Then we said we'd make sure there were a few things in for her to eat she said she probably wouldn't eat anything (!) and she's bring her own bread and milk.

She even said she wouldn't put the tv on (she watches tv all day) because she didn't know how to use our remote control. She's only in her 50's, so it's not like she's an old lady. Thankfully she's not my mum so I'm not the one who has to have the conversation with her about how mad she sounds.

I can't believe how quickly things can change, one minute I feel great and could do anything and 2 minutes later can't stop crying. I just want to feel normal.
I've had a good clear out this afternoon and filled the bin ready for tomorrow and there seems more mess than ever but it just needs sorting through and putting away. I really couldn't be bothered but made myself do it mainly because it is on this week's plan and I have to report back to mr gorgeous pwp ;)
I was glad I went out this morning, there were only 2 of us and we had a nice chat, Everything was good till I came home, maybe I just shouldn't come home :o

Hello again - sorry for banging on a bit last night, but I think it did help.

Dibuzz, well done your youngest! It may not be his ideal job, but they reckon it`s easier to get another job if you`re already employed. Enjoy the knitting group this pm (have you showed `em your minions yet?)

Chi-me - when you sort a drawer like that, don`t you wonder why half the stuff was ever put in there in the first place? I did when I sorted a kitchen drawer a few months ago!

Alec E - some of that does sound a bit odd, but maybe she`s just trying to reassure you that she`s not expecting you to go to any trouble, and she`s not going to make free with your kitchen, etc., only it sounds a bit OTT as she`s expressed herself. I don`t find it quite so odd that she`d be happier on the sofa than in a strange bed, just for the one night while you`re not there.
I can see her point with the TV too - I`m not an old lady but I`m quite stupid with telly remotes as we don`t have one (we watch whatever on the computer) and on the few occasions I`ve used the ward telly remote it`s too easy to press wrong buttons and have to get a colleague to put it right! I wouldn`t worry too much, but keep alert in case anything really odd alarms you .

    Chez-Emm -
Disruption to water supply still hasn`t happened - the card said anytime between 9am-5pm, but it`s now nearly 4pm and I`m beginning to think they`ve changed their minds and called it off! At least I`ve had no wet rugs to deal with today.
I`ve been to farmshop for fruit & veg, (steamed veg & chicken again tonight) but a neighbour told me no water board presence occurred while I was out.
I wonder if they put the wrong date on the card...?

Dibuzz, ((HUGS)) - you are still in the middle of your meds change, and you are doing the planned stuff you`ve set yourself so that is good. Be patient with yourself.

Thanks Emm, probably doesn't help that today is 5 years since my dad died and I still don't know what his wife did with his ashes. She didn't tell us he had been taken to hospital till it was too late so I never got to say goodbye to him either.

Believe me, she's not doing it to be nice, she's just doesn't like anything different. When she decides she's not going to enjoy something then that's that, no matter how OK everything is when she actually does it.

I shall say no more on the matter!

    Have a good weekend everyone.
