Good Morning Messies!
Mothernerd, detachment is good if it stops you fretting about the banned activities till you can safely carry on and get things done as you want them. (As for Flylady, it`s ok for some folks, but for others it`s just another wagon to fall off! )
Also, I think you`re right about youngsters being more accepting, `take you as they find you` as visitors. Thinking back to my own youth...in those days most folks had a`best room` where not only Visitors (with capital V) would be admitted, but also which kids would be kept out of as much as possible!
Pollypenny, you`ve reminded me that my front door is in dire need of cleaning. It`s probably only the postie and any strangers who knock door-to-door who ever notice, as we all tend to use the back door...but when I cleaned DGD`s window the other week I did notice, then forgot.
Dibuzz, well done there. I`m sure reclaiming your own room and making your own space nicer will help lift your mood, it cheered me up no end when I sorted my bedroom out recently - it`s still far from `right`, but a lot better than it was.
Alec E, well done getting out and about having fun with your OH, your MIL is coming to pet sit, not for an inspection! You still have a couple of weeks, I`m sure thats enough for a `good enough` clean & tidy but meanwhile enjoy your planting.
Chez-Emm....
Well, yesterday I had just gone out to potter in the garden (with timer & Littly dog) when OH followed me out and suggested we take Littly for a walk. As OH & Littly need exercise as much as I do, but he rarely suggests it, I agreed, and we had a long walk round an old quarry-turned park, we were out nearly 2 hours, and came back healthily tired.
Then last night I tripped and fell in the hall, banged my knee and big toe - no damage done, no bruises, but my foot hurts a bit today so I`m not putting anything strenuous on the agenda.
It`s bins day today, and OH put the bins out last night (habit!) so I`ve done a trash-trawl and had a few trips to the gate and back this morning. No shopping needed today, and as long as I dig something out of freezer for tomorrow no shopping Tuesday either. Quite a good day for cleaning the front door and a gentle potter in the garden I reckon....
Have a decent day all. x0 -

I've been to the docs this morning, he's decided to change my anti-depressants as they don't seem to be doing much now so I have to come off one and onto another over the next 2 weeks.
I persuaded youngest to go to Tesco with me so have done some shopping, just having a cup of tea and a browse before eldest needs picking up from the station.
The trains times are changing soon so he'll be going and coming back half an hour later than he is now, luckily they allow flexi time. He's been promoted as well so is no long a junior programmer, just need youngest to find something now.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Alec E, sorry but you did make me chuckle - still, remember it`s YOUR home and MIL is only a guest after all. Just tell her you and her DS have been busy doing other stuff, and she`ll probably wish that she had better things to do than cleaning too!
Dibuzz, I hope the change of meds works well for you, it`s good that the doc is listening to you and trying something different too. You WILL get there, I believe you are a lot stronger than you give yourself credit for. Great news about your eldest`s promotion, but your youngest must be fed up - I take it he didn`t get the job he went after before Easter - did they bother to let him know?
I`ve been outside all afternoon.
I started off feeling quite overwhelmed at how much needs doing, and the thought that it all goes to pot again so fast, but then I got started and got carried away. And anyway, if you want a really wild garden (which I do) it still needs a bit of control - it`s quite beyond lawnmowers and there`s no fast and easy way round it.
So... I`ve been weeding the weeds again!
Very selectively, cutting (shears, scissors, pruning clipper) and pulling up (gloves) the respective unwanted stuff to give the other stuff a chance.
3 garden buckets of goosegrass in green bin.
PILES of nettles pulled up, and a huge pile of long grass cut and taken down to bottom of garden to rot down or whatever...
Buttercup plants cut back from a few bits where they will take over otherwise.
I`ve also done 2 WM loads, and had a couple of little breaks just watching the activity round the bee-hotels, which never fails to delight me!
I have also exposed a lot of snails, woodlice & whatever else scurried away - now I`ve come indoors the birds are having a feeding frenzy out there!
Plan for the rest of today - shower, salad for tea & cold chicken, and a couple of glasses of wine. I feel I`ve earned it!0 -
He's not heard anything so will have to keep looking.
I did think about mowing the lawn but it wore off after a while, I've done a bit more clearing out of my room, not much but better than nothing.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Do you ever feel like once you've done a job someone comes along and makes a mess so you get to the point of why bother?
I got married just over three weeks ago and finding it really hard settling into a new home. I've moved in with my husband and his dad, my husband currently works nights until next week he got offered a new job today which is brilliant I won't be on my own at night now. But the first week after getting married I scrubbed the kitchen for 3 nights on the run it was looking lovely, the week after it's like I shouldn't of bothered all grease up the tiles ect, I've kept on top of everything the dishes ect but I'm not the only adult in the house.
Fair enough my husband works a 13 hour night shift I don't expect him to help me as much but his dad doesn't work, just stays in his room all day and ventures out when it's tea time (I have to cook before my husband goes to work) but FIL isn't contributing at all money or food wise. I'm currently not working because of relocating I'm applying for jobs and getting no where so feel I have to earn my keep by cleaning the house and cooking meals.
I just feel so down that it's just down to me to keep the house tidy. I'm not use to this way of life
Any advice?

Who's messing it up if FIL stays in his room and husband at work? I'd clean it once a week properly then just tidy up in between.0

FIL when he decides to venture out of his room if I've gone food shopping he decides to nick what I've bought and make himself what ever he fancies leaving a mess behind him for me to clean up0 -
My house is a mess! In my defence I have been helping a friend who is in dire need of support and her house made mine look like a palace!
During the last 4 days I have done 13 loads of washing-none of it from my house though!
Last night I started on my own laundry. I did one lot of towels and today my girls have put a load in each. I still have a lot to do.
It doesn't help that I'm at 'a certain age' and have been feeling very not myself lately-doctor still got me on happy pills too!
I really need to get our house sorted ASAP!GE 36 *MFD may 2043
