Yesterday I tidied the hall and swept it it took all of 12 minutes in the end, I've been putting it off for weeks as it looked to daunting, when OH returned from his week away with work last night he commented how much better it looked and instead of doing his usual and abandoning his luggage in the hall and dropping his shoes where ever they left his feet. He put his shoes on the rack & took his luggage upto the bedroom, putting his dirty laundry in the basket as he went :j
I also managed to clean the kitchen floor, keep on top of the dw, do some laundry, clear the kitchen table - which alway seems to have something on it, clean the hob and the far worktop, started tidying the middle worktop - must continue with this today, near worktop is still a work in progress but more than 60% done. I also received a wholesale delivery which I've sorted, delivered my sisters stuff to her and taken BIL to the garage to collect their car after its MOT. As well as home educate the children.

    Today I need to:
maintain the areas I did yesterday
    Finish the middle worktop
    Complete the near worktop
    Put away wholesale delivery
    Start in the dining room
    Laundry
    Dw

Myself and the children are going out this morning after lunch if the weather holds we are all going to garden followed by some curriculum followed by the above list. Its lovely and sunny here, hope everyone has a good Easter.

  • Hi Messies!

I wasn`t planning on doing much today, didn`t think there`d be anything to `report` here - but ended up getting lots done!
2 WM loads (one was towels from DS`s floor - so much for being up to date with laundry!) all line dried and brought in/put away.
Made a chicken curry this am for tonight`s tea.
Done lots of clothes sorting, moved stuff around a bit in bedroom which now looks a lot less cluttered.
Also did a bit of fridge/freezer tetris and wiped fridge shelves.
Finally, a bit of tetris in caravan of Doom, & 3 cardboard boxes in recycling.
    I think that will suffice....
Have a lovely weekend all. x

    Hi all, I'm still lurking,
Dibuzz - I mainly de-lurked to say well done on doing those 2 things you find difficult, sounds like a good programme you're on. I recently bought myself a colouring book - it does say it's one for grown ups (!) but it's very relaxing to do, so go for it with the puzzle book.
House is a mess, so I've mainly been in the garden, does that count as tidying?!

I've been disgusted with the state of my laundry basket, the lining in particular, and have been pricing a new one! Can't believe how dear they are!

Well, yesterday I took the lining out, soaked it in Vanish for 6 hours added bleach for the last hour, then washed it on 90 degrees.

It came up clean, with just a few mould spots!

MOneysaving and non- messy! I'm pleased with myself.

  • Morning all!!

Got back from Yorkshire last night, 3 loads of washing on line this morning, chocolate brownies in oven, now having a coffee and a catch up on here!!

Gloriously sunny here, the cows will be let out to grass at lunchtime - they are kept indoors through the winter. It's lovely to see them galloping about in the field when they first go out. Mr farmer is prepping the electric fence & the kids are outside helping. It's days like these that make me love being a farmer!

While we were away i was toying with the idea of painting the kitchen, still an idea at the mo but i think i'm feeling up to it!

Have a good day everyone, Happy Easter!!

I've now got an image in my mind of the cows sat on the sofa watching TV and wandering round the house ;)

I'm going to help eldest clean his car this afternoon, another challenge to go out in the front garden then maybe a bit of gardening in the back.

  • Doobop - of course the garden counts as tidying!

Pollypenny, I gave up on laundry baskets a while back and use folding plastic storage crates - so much carp was finding its way into laundry basket! At a push you can stack the crates and stuff gets less creased, and they fold flat/take less space when not in use. (Any empty receptacle in this house is like a flat surface, it attracts carp!!)

FW, it must be great to see your cows going out and enjoying the grass. Saw a bit like this on last weeks` Countryfile and they were bounding around, obviously happy to be out on grass again.
Dibuzz, re your image of the cows wandering around the house - years ago a friend of my mum`s came home to find a similar thing! They kept sheep & pigs on a small-holding, and were rebuilding the farmhouse bit by bit, the newly finished lounge and fireplace were lovely, her pride & joy. She`d left her little boy `helping` his dad...but dad was busy in a shed or something and the little lad thought it was cold, and thought the pigs must be cold too - so he let them out and somehow got them in the house without his dad noticing! Mum`s friend came home to find pigs milling around in her lovely new lounge, and wasn`t impressed!

I have colouring books too, there are some really nice ones out there. I thought people would laugh at me when I said I had them but everyone just asked me where I got hold of them!

  • Hi Messies!

I hope everyone`s having a good Easter weekend. We`ve been very quiet here (DGD is at her other grandparents) and I`ve been pottering away at a bit of upstairs tidying/sorting, just a few half-hours over the last couple of days.
Now, looking at what I`ve done, it seems a lot -
One big shopping bag of books for CS.
Top of bedroom shelf unit cleared, dusted, ornament cull, and lots of small stuff (combs/slides/odd earrings...) sorted and put away/slung. (+ small bag of bits for CS)
Henried upstairs (at last!) and Henry now brought back downstairs, so landing less cluttered!

I`ve also done some nice culinary experiments - involving duck (slow-cooked legs & duck crackling) and today it`s slow-roast funny-shaped leg of pork with leeks, mint, carrots and butternut squash.
Plus I did a bit more freezer tetris today. I`m really not doing very well at emptying freezers mission - 3 steps forwards, 2 steps back on that one!
