I've done the usual washing and drying, it's great to be able to dry it outside.
Youngest did the front lawn for me, I think that needs to be one of my aims as I don't like being out when there are people around.
I've done half the back lawn and pulled up some weeds from the flowerbed in the back.

  • Hi Messies.
Still not finished DGD`s curtains, but I have been out and about.
I called in at work, had a chat with Sister & some other colleagues which was nice plus sorted a few things - including a uniform swop as that`ll be necessary before I go back.
Also called in to see DD, dropped off the usual choccy offerings for her to hide....that`s a bit of spare room of Doom clear too.
Called in farm shop & Mr M`s on way home, and put away some shopping, won`t need to go anywhere till next week now.
DGD isn`t in residence here till tomorrow, and I`d like to get her window done by then, but I just feel worn out - NOT a great time to be fighting the slippery cloth we chose.... more coffee, methinks, then I`ll get going again....

Good day - quiet but pleasant. Dropped books in at the library, one new one out. Took bag of craft stuff to mum's. Played with baby whilst cutting out foam flower petals. Lodger's daughter came round to play with baby - she said she is useless with craft stuff (14yo) so I told her what to do and she produced a reasonable looking flower - we thought the 4yo could do them with my help.

I did loads of flowers when I was young but mostly using crepe paper - the foam is a lot easier to handle, but less 'wrappy' than paper (which can also be curled with scissors, so it was an experiment. One bag filled with foam flower petals, one bag of flat tulip shapes (to make cards) and one bag of rabbit heads in different colours to make a pair matching game.

Baby played with smooth sticks (flower stalks) and bits of wool (for tying petals to sticks and also for 'eyes of god', while her mother went to watch the 4yo end of term assembly at church.

Mum had some pieces of card (cereal packets etc) behind the microwave, so after tea the 4yo stuck the rabbit heads onto cards and then we showed her how to play (started with 4 pairs, then 7). Should be enough adults next week to mind baby and enough activities/ games to keep 4yo busy all day.

Had a lift home (exhausted now, even though I sat with my leg up for part of the day). Didn't have a lot of sleep - went out at 3am in a t-shirt and wellies to peg washing out and set next load off. Nothing urgent, so will bring in as and when I feel up to it. Definitely need more days like today to keep my mood up - little treats (preferably inexpensive and non-fattening:rotfl:). Everything made was from bits lying around the house so a bit of de-cluttering. Also saw a woman training a (just-starting) guide dog, so asked if they needed old quilts - yes to quilts, towels, bedding of all sorts, so may be worth a trip that way if I can sort buses (Training centre moved from 8+ miles away to about 2 miles from the house.

  • Morning all!

Have been at tennis comps with the girls for the past two days, home today and then comps again sun & mon. We go away for two nights on wednesday so i need to sort out the clothes for us to take away. I'm nearly up to date with the washing so it shouldn't be hard to find enough clean stuff for our trip away, i'm quite looking forward to it as we don't get to go away very often!

Blowing a gale here today, eldest daughter has six sheep in the front field, they started lambing last week so we have 5 lambs skipping around at the moment. Still another 3 sheep left to give birth. The kids spend all their spare time outside with the lambs, it's so nice to see.

I've made a sponge cake this morning, need to go and glue it together with some jam.....

    Have a nice weekend everyone!!

Mothernerd, sounds like you are making good progress and doing crafty stuff is definitely a good way to keep busy, especially if you have got some kids helping.

Hi FW, enjoy your time away and awww, lambs, arent they lovely to see skipping about.

All is well here, work has been busy and I have been very tired after having that cold. Really enjoying the light nights and lighter mornings now though.

Oh and anyone got any tips for dealing with 2 teenage boys who want to murder each other all the time? They are driving me to distraction at the moment. Still as my dear Mum said to me last night my brother and I carried on an argument for about 2 years when we were teenagers!

Off to potter a little then read for a bit. Can get into watching telly at the moment.

No tips, it does get easier when one of them moves out though!

I've been watching the football :(

  • Mothernerd, sounds like you had a brilliant day, Bless you, no wonder you`re tired though! Great to be able to help Guide Dogs whilst de-cluttering further, too.
For the folks who don`t have a training centre nearby, can I suggest your local animal rescue centre would also welcome any old duvets, old bedding or towels, I`ve donated stuff in the past, but now getting through unwanted stuff myself with my dear old Daftie-dog, and know how very useful such items can be!

FW, enjoy the anticipation as well as the time away! I love your posts, can just picture those lambs...and I note you aren`t stressing about mowing grass like some of us!

YL, no tips here either, sorry, except try to stay sane while time takes its course. They`ll either get through this time and then be closer, or go their separate ways (as my DS & DD have, and as Dibuzz said, easier when one moves out) but try not to get caught and mangled in the crossfire!

Re telly - as we aren`t sport fans, the current offerings are pretty naff. We`ve been watching a couple of old telly series on u-tube - OH is an old-time aviation nut, and I found `wings` WW1 and `piece of cake`WW2, we`re both loving the break from current telly, as long as I can catch up with Masterchef, that is!

DGD`s curtains are up. She loves them, so do I. I had a bit of a fight with the sewing machine, but got it sorted, and couldn`t wait till dark to see how they looked from inside with the light on. Brilliant, but this isn`t just about curtains, it`s about me `re-claiming` an old bit of me. Feels really good.
    Goodnight all. x

I don't watch TV that much really but Wigan don't often get on there.

I've got a few towels I can't use as they are the microfibre ones and I just can't touch them especially with wet hands.
We have an animal rescue centre about 15 minutes away but I don't think I'd have the willpower to come home without a new friend :o

I had one of those automated phonecalls about PPI at 8am
I'd been up hours but when you get a call from an unknown number at that time you think all sorts. Half an hout later there was a loud banging on the front door and when I opened it there was a delivery man with a box from Amazon for my daughter. I actually checked the calendar to make sure it was really Sunday.

  • Good Morning!

Dibuzz, that`s weird about the microfibre - I`ve heard quite a few people say the same thing, the feel of the stuff creeps them out. A bloke at work is the worst affected I know of, he can`t touch velvet, or the microfibre fleece blankets either, the texture sets his teeth on edge! I wonder what causes that. I like microfibre towels myself for some things - hair, face, and my recent `delicate` region, but I also like a good rough normal towel for the rest. I have a stack of the cleaning cloths as hand-towels in the downstairs loo and that works well too, plus a few in the kitchen - stops the menfolk drying their hands on teatowels!!
Re the `is it Sunday?` feeling, I`m getting the days fuddled too - DGD came yesterday not on her usual day (Friday) so I keep thinking it`s Saturday today!

I can't touch cotton wool either, when I have blood tests I always tell them "I'm fine with the needle but don't come near me with a cotton wool ball"

All I've managed to do today is some washing and last night's dishes, I'm finding it hard to get motivated and there doesn't seem much point to anything.
