YL - hope you're feeling a bit better today.

Emm- sorry you had a bad day with your son, aren't they supposed to get better as they get older? My daughter has a week off and I'm dreading it, she has a habit of making me feel like an outsider in my own home and seems to enjoy upsetting me.

I had physio on my hands a few years ago and it did help so may be worth asking if I can go back but I'd rather wait till I've finished seeing the psychologist or at least got more used to it.
I have meloxicam and co drydamol in the day and tramadol at night but try to do without the co drydamol if I can.
They are a bit better today so I'm hoping to get a few things done, it's raining though so the washing will have to go on the airer in eldest's room.

  • Hello again...

YL, I hope your cold gets better quickly, remember to drink lots it`s supposed to help.

Pollypenny, that`s the very place! I hadn`t been there for ages but we used to go there a lot. Some changes though - the cafe was a lot more expensive than it used to be, and some fabrics, made-up kits and gifty things are dear, but there`s still LOADS of good bargains to be had - you really have to take time to look at everything, make a day of it!
Sounds like you`re making good headway on the de-messifying front too.

FW, my kitchen floor needs doing but it`s pointless with the feet of 3 species bringing wet dirty footprints indoors all the time! It will keep till we get a little dry spell.

Dibuzz, remember it may take a while to get a physio appointment through, but I`m glad you`re considering it. I hope your DD`s week off goes peacefully, nobody needs any extra carp in their lives!

Re the Rant - thanks for `listening` to my moans, folks. I know I`m not the only one, and I shouldn`t let it get to me, but it does! It`s the aftermath few days that`s worse than the actual rant here, till things settle back to `normal`. I didn`t visit DD`s yesterday after all, just talked to her on the phone, as it was easier to sound `normal` that way.
I need to pop in to work as there`s a couple of things to sort out with sister before I go back, plus I need to speak to one of my colleagues and I`ve lost her number - trying to work out best time to go but I know there isn`t one as it`s always busy, just go in and hope/wait for a bit of a lull!

Have a nice afternoon all. x

    Hi Messies!

Still at the `cold war` stage here (silent glare if spoken to) but better than another rant.
I have tried to keep busy, and done lots of sorting and clearing in DGD`s room, quite difficult without chucking out anything that isn`t really obvious junk. Have emptied the last folding crate, but filled it up again with stuff she needs to have a quick look at next time she`s here.
Her rug is washed and out on the line, and my sewing machine is now completely clear of stuff. I`ve not started doing anything with it as I really need DGD`s mum to help with this bit (and she`s keeping out of the way while DS is still on one!)
Still, the room is respectable enough to leave curtains open now, even without nets, and that`s a first in quite a long time.
Something to show for my efforts, at least.

Youngest 2 have gone to Blackpool for the day so it's been quiet today, just what I needed really as I'm on edge about going to see the psychologist tomorrow so apart from the washing and dishes I've not done anything.
I fell asleep watching tv this afternoon for about 2 hours and feel more tired than before :o
My hands are a lot better so driving should be easy enough tomorrow, in some ways I'm looking forward to going, it's nice having someone to talk to who understands and makes me feel normal but I'm still nervous about it.

Dibuzz my sympathies on problems with your hands and best wishes for tomorrow.

Emm know what you mean about the rant - I think boys sometimes keep things bottled up too long and then explode and act as if it's your fault when they haven't told you what is going on (they also follow you round sighing heavily if they think you haven't noticed they are upset and asked them all about it). Ah well, we all know a mother's place is in the wrong.

I tried to follow flylady this week, just because so much needed doing that I couldn't see where to start. Did a bit yesterday but was very tired and had to take painkillers at 2am (nagging ache in my leg stopping me sleeping) and again when I woke - my back this time.

I really need to get to the doctor's have managed to oversleep twice, on Sunday I didn't sleep until 5am so turned the alarm off. Last night I left it on, got to the bathroom and brushed my teeth but felt like a zombie so went back to bed - got to the stage where I am weighing up which is more difficult - walking to the doctor's (might be okay in another day or two) or spend the cash for a taxi/ bus fares (2 different operators).

One of the reasons for staying up late is reading on craft sites on here, mostly to cheer myself up. Trying to avoid the slide into depression. A few reasons for this:
House is a mess - trying to be positive, bathroom still looks good, the moving things round in here means I can get across the floor (must try again because there is nothing in the wardrobes and a lot of the boxes in the way only have a few things in them) and the landing, whilst not done, looks better after yesterday's efforts but there is so much to do. Baby steps, baby steps.

I haven't been to exercise class for four weeks and realistically (could maybe walk there and back by next Monday, if I keep improving), I wouldn't be able to do the things we were doing (taken me from October to be able to do most of the exercises). I am not a natural 'joiner-in-er' so it will be like going back to the start (some will have finished their 12 weeks and more new people will have joined - only a few of us continue after completing the 12 weeks).

My only other activity outside the home is going to mum's on Friday and I went by taxi and had a lift back (mum's partner's gd). Other than a nod and a wave to next door neighbour I have spoken to very few people in the last few weeks and I know the longer I go without seeing/ speaking to people the harder it becomes to do so. Thinking I might wait until Friday (keep doing what I can in the house - and garden), then have an all day bus ticket and do the doctor's/ mum's/ shopping/ library and cs runs (so many things I really want gone from the house) in one day. That would leave enough cash to do it again the following week (was going to get a weekly ticket and do a trip or two each day but added up the money in my purse and it was less than £13). Going into Easter next week.

Oh I really need to be able to walk (and get back to exercise before I start putting back the 3st 10lbs I have lost.

Let's be positive. Today I managed to bring the bin back in from the pavement and walk to the compost bin at the bottom of the garden. I am racking up NSDs. I brought in a towel and bits that have been out since Saturday and managed to peg out the load in the basket (put clothes over my shoulder, stuffed my pockets full of pegs and held onto the washing line with one hand as I walked up and down (still feeling a bit wobbly). Went back to resting when done. Found some lovely ideas on the craft thread last night and am going to cut out rabbits, tulips and eggs (making a pairs matching game and some cards/ stuck in a plant pot - to do with 4 yo next Friday) out of thin foam sheets. Another 15 minute tidy in here could make this room a lot better (and I can wipe a couple of cupboard doors in the kitchen whilst I heat tea). Living happily from the freezer (need to defrost so de-stocking) and no access to chocolate/sweets and other no-nos so good for weight loss. I'm really trying here folks. (You are - very trying).

Grrr, just typed a long post and it vanished.

So in a nutshell what I said was:

Mothernerd, make sure you let your doctor know if you are feeling down, although its hard to put it into words sometimes. And try and keep to that trip out on Friday - it will do you good. I will check up on you so no excuses! Having been through the whole thing of not going out, then not wanting to go out I do understand. Hard too if money is tight. Just set yourself realistic goals and try and stick to it, as you say babysteps all the way.

    Good luck for tomorrow Dibuzz.

My DS is in a funny mood. I am trying to head off trouble but I am probably wasting my time.

Right going to post this before it disappears again. I am soon off to bed!

Ive got a diary to fill in every day, what I'm doing and how I'm feeling. He had to change it though as it only starts at 8am and my day usually starts at 4 :o
I've done some washing, put the dry stuff away and written a shopping list.
I hate shopping, sometimes I'm in there for ages as I can't go to the till without panicking but I usually find it a bit easier if I go on the way to the station to pick eldest up and I need to put something "normal" on the diary sheet so I'm off to do that in a few minutes.

Hi All, & Happy Anniversary to the Messy thread!!
Not sure about a party, but a good time to send best wishes to all the `founder` Messies and those now MIA! YL, thanks for bringing it to our attention. SO annoying when you type a lot and it just disappears, but I`m glad you persevered. Hope your DS`s mood improves.

Dibuzz, I hope your appointment went well today. Know what you mean about afternoon naps, they don`t suit me either.

Mothernerd, you`re right about boys - though my DS was a lovely kid, these rants are since he `grew up`!!
Your situation at present sounds a bit `catch 22`, and you seem to be a normally fit and active person so no wonder you`re getting fed up and frustrated. You said it yourself, BABY STEPS - and prioritise. It does sound like you`ve overdone it a bit, and your GP might well tell you the same. If you`ve not seen him yet, do it asap. You`re right to flag up all the positive bits, but driving yourself too hard isn`t good. If you won`t rest that leg it`ll force you to.

    Chez-Emm -
Peace has broken out at last...yesterday evening DGD & her mum popped in, and as we all love DGD more than we ever get fed up of each other she was the catalyst needed.
Also her mum had a fiddle with my sewing machine, and to our surprise it just purred into action straight away! Thought we might need to get it serviced after standing idle so long and under heaps of carp. (It`s an old industrial Brother, and all I`ve got since parting with 2 dear old treadles.) I`ve not been sewing yet, because I know that once I start I`ll let other jobs go to Hellina-handcart!!
    So, today I`ve-
    Henry`d upstairs,
    Mopped LR & Kitchen
Swilled & yard-brushed outside back door area (where dear old Dafty-dog pees when she doesn`t do one indoors!)
Done a bit of frezer tetris and thawing Bambi steaks & wedges for tonight
Nipped to local co-op for milk & lettuce (salad with tea)
Now having a quick coffee before I start on DGD`s curtains...

I feel so much better today, hope everyone else is having a good day too. x
