Done quite a lot in 3 x 15 minute bursts including the bathroom 9even mopped it but didn't move the little drawers. Still thinking I will go back to the doctor on Monday - would like some guidance on what I should be doing next. Not well enough for exercise class (missed 4 weeks now), can't walk as far as town centre (15 minutes). Before Christmas I was managing 5 hours of decorating a day and was up to 2 hour walks so current situation is a real set back. Determined to get better (and not feel sorry for myself -lots of people including some of you are far worse off than me).

Hi Messies!
Tattycath, not bad for a rest-day!!
YL, I`m sure the kids will be fine - probably just getting up by the time you get home!
Mothernerd, good idea to see the doc even though you`re much improved. Could you ask him for physio referral, they are the ideal folks to advise while you`re still a long way off your usual activity level and how to build up to it again.
I`m feeling very grumpy and impatient today:
DS is up since early and STILL hogging DGD`s room with that pesky game!
My afflicted booby is looking much better but still feels a bit hot and itchy, not quite ready for `normal` underwear yet, and I`m getting so fed up of slopping around in vests with loose tops over them.
I have to nip to farmshop in a bit, then pick up DGD from her mum`s as she`s not at school today (had 2 appointments!) .
The 3 of us are going to a fabric warehouse on Saturday, so I`m hoping to replace the nets in DGD`s window, and find something to make for a wedding in July - I don`t like any of the stuff I`ve seen in shops or online because I`m just so awkward!!!
Have a nice Friday all. x0 -
Nothing done today as I have been at mum's all day. Nearly came to blows over some ribbon. Baby is having a family party tomorrow as she is one next week. Mum had decided to make cakepops for the party and then decided I could curl ribbon to put on the sticks.
Went upstairs to back room, called down to be given a clue as to ribbon whereabouts. Two of us searched. Shouted down again after searching through sewing stuff, Christmas stuff, gift wrap/cards/bags drawer, icing stuff and a few less likely locations. Mum came up - ribbons were in an old margerine tub under the icing things -she had said a clear tub and (I thought) the tub the ribbons had come in. Not curling ribbon at all - if she had phoned I could have taken some, but recycled flower ribbon. Some of it was dreadful but managed to cut strips and curl for cakepops and then did another load to tie on ribbons as four year old will be having some friends there (baby's mother was hoping for good weather so they could play in the garden as niece is quite destructive). We let the baby and the dogs play with some of the worst ribbon (shredded, ripped one way then split back the other) and then I scooped it into my bag to bring home for binning - only a tiny de-clutter but still progress (a year ago you had to push the door and squeeze into the back bedroom, now you can walk all across it).My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Hi all
Not fussy Emm, just choosy, and I sure what you make yourself will be far better than whats in the shops.
And yeah Dibuzz, the kids only want me nowadays when they want taking somewhere or feeding.
Sooo, done some paid stuff this morning. Everyone else is out and its so peaceful. Off to put some music on and get the hoover going while there is no-one to get in my way. One of DSs friends has walked mud onto his bedroom carpet so I am hoping it will hoover up.
Lots of washing out, sun is a bit in and out so I hope its drying. Right, sitting here wont get the hoovering done will it?0 -
Lazy day for me. Was very tired but wide awake at 5am this morning. Have done a little pampering (bath, body scrub and lotion) and put on clean but non-matching pjs. I am fighting the urge to have chocolate (really shouldn't) so now if I want some I will have to get dressed and go out and I'm really comfortable and a bit sleepy now. Want to get this room looking a bit better so moved a few things round and have some filing on the bed with me. Finally found my accounts book (was stressing me out) so have transferred all the notes I have made into it (DS2 sick so he owes me for rent and groceries and I had to borrow from DS3 for bus/taxi money last week as I couldn't get to the bank - feel much happier with all updated figures in one place. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0

I haven't done a thing today, my hands and wrists are so sore and stiff even typing hurts and I can't pick things up.
Hopefully it won't be as bad tomorrow, eldest son did the dishes for me before and braved his brother's room to find the rest of them which are now soaking in the sink.
It wouldn't be so bad if I could knit. Doing nothing is very over rated14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Hi Messies!
Mothernerd, well done resisting the chocolate.
Dibuzz, I hope you`re feeling better. A few years ago I had trouble with my hands - painful thumbs & wrists, dropping things, sounds like yours, and even thought I might have to give up work. (That`s when I gave up sewing & knitting too) My then GP was useless, thought painkillers were the only remedy, and one of our ward physios suggested I ask occy health for a physio referral. I was under the hand specialist physio for a few months, she was AMAZING¬ I had day splints and night splints, taught me gentle exercises and `icing` , and it really helped. I rarely wear a splint now, and only very occasionally need a couple of ibuprophen and the ice. Would your GP refer you for a physio assessment, I wonder? It surprised me how much it helped, without just throwing painkillers at the problem. Wouldn`t hurt to ask him, and might help an awful lot. They can`t give you new hands, but can help get a lot more use & less pain from the ones you`ve got.
YL, I suppose you`re right, I AM choosy! That`s why I started making my own clothes way back in my teens...trouble is that I haven`t sewed for ages and feel as if I`ve lost it!! DGD`s mum has been a Star, and is going to help me `get it back`, she`s a great sewer and now we`ve been and bought stuff we`ve both got the bug again.
I`ve got some `chiffon foil` to replace DGD`s nets, it`s white, plain on window side and sort of opal/pearly sheen on room side, DGD loves it, and there`s enough for the large bay window plus there`ll be some left (?for what I dunno yet!) That piece was £7.30.
Also got some lovely velvet stuff, multi-coloured but very subtle the way the colour mixes, will go with loads of my stuff, enough for a dress or a top & skirt. That was £3.68!!
Also got 5 yards of a printed polyester that is `weddingy` enough but the colours are `me` so even though I`m not keen on dressy occasions I won`t feel weird and I`m thinking dress & floaty jacket...found a pattern which keeps my options open till I decide! The 5 yards came to £9.10p, the pattern £4.
I also got a piece of printed cotton, looks like little housebricks - to make some crafty cushions, a project with DGD, that was only £3.
None of the stuff was price-labelled, you just take it to the till and ask how much as they sell it by weight. I was expecting it all to cost a lot more so it was a lovely day out AND very MSE!
Then it all went pear-shaped....
After we got home and DGD`s mum had left, DS started up on one of his rants. Hasn`t had one for ages, reason doesn`t come into it, and there`s no reasoning with it, even if you don`t rise to it he`ll carry on & on till he runs out of rant then go silent for a bit. DGD heard it all this time (hard not to!), and so at least he`s now talking `normal` to her as she was upset too. DD rang me last night, and he even took the phone and had a rant at her, but there`s no new damage there as they haven`t spoken for a few years. DD`s upset on my behalf though, and she`s got quite enough on her plate without worrying about me, so I`ve texted her a bit - might nip over and see her later, whilst giving DS a wide berth till his head pops out of his @rse again....
OH wisely keeps out of it all, and at least DS doesn`t rant at him like he used to a while back.
I didn`t sleep much, and just feel drained today, so I can`t see much getting done in the house, and it`s too wet to potter outside.
Hope you`re all having a reasonable Sunday with no extra carp! x0 -
Sounds like you got some good buys there Emm. Shame about DS having a rant, I am familiar with this and I know how upsetting it can be even if you try and harden yourself to it.
I have a cold. Felt rubbish this afternoon and I had to almost fall out with OH to get him to help me make a meal and tidy the kitchen up. My OHs lovely brother took our kids for the afternoon AND brought them home again so at least the house was quiet and I had a bit of a nap. Getting really fed up with OH not doing anything though.
Work tomorrow and I am on my own so I have to be there no matter how I feel. I will get an early night I think.
Hope the hands are feeling a bit better Dibuzz.0 -
Emm, do you go to Abakan? It's wonderful for fabric and wool.
I tried a timed clean of bathroom today, main,t as I was having to put all my cosmetics in there for the decorator to do our bedroom. You know, it's gleaming and smells lovely.
Cleared front bedroom yesterday, finished housework with washing kitchen floor, only to have OH rant because he couldn't get in there. To cook the dinner, in all fairness!Member #14 of SKI-ers club

Morning all!!
YL - hope you are feeling better today?
Emm - This may sound strange but after reading your post about your DS i did feel like it's not just me that suffers with a 'ranter' in the house, what a pain they are!!
Crap weather today. I'll be in kitchen all day (after i've finished this coffee!!) Got to make lasagne for tonights supper and then some baking needs to be done. I think biscuits and a sponge cake today.
I scrubbed the kitchen floor on friday, took me an hour and me knees haven't recovered yet! I've got loads of washing to do but can't get anything hung out and only use the drier for towels, i'll put a few things on the airer later.
Have a good day everyone!
