I've splashed some bleach on the black bits in the bathroom, it's so damp in there it needs doing often, washed all the doggy stuff and put her basket in the shed just in case but right now I'm sure I won't ever want another dog.

Didn't get much sleep last night, it was the frst time I've actually been in my bed for a while but I kept waking up wondering why there was no dog snuggled up to me.
This is what I found when I went to empty the washing machine :)

  • Dibuzz - big hugs to you from down on the farm!

Haven't been on here for a while. Managed to get farm tidy for the farmers that came to visit, can't believe it was a week ago! Homemade cakes went down very well with them too! It's half term this week so i've been entertaining the kids, was supposed to be meeting up with my cousin today but there was a fair bit of snow at the junction i use to get onto the motorway and there'd been an accident a bit further along so i cancelled. Every time we arrange to meet up something happens, last time my cousin had a tummy bug!

I've just popped a cake into the oven and i'm going to clean the bathroom as it needs a 'freshen up'. I'm pleased to say that we tidied the living room last saturday and have managed to keep it that way so far. We had to tidy because I invited my new work colleague round for food & a games night, she's from Denmark and has moved here by herself and is living alone. I introduced her to cumberland sausage which she liked and also yorkshire puddings which she'd never heard of! (we had veg etc as well!) Then we played jenga and monopoly, it was a lovely evening.

    Hope everyone is ok!!

    It's a farmers life for me......:j
  • Morning all

FW, never heard of Yorkshire Puddings??? Cant believe it, glad you have educated her!!

I am feeling a little down this morning. I have been on holiday this week and I am not looking forward to going back to work on Monday. I wasnt happy being at home all the time and now I am not really enjoying my job as much as I thought I would. Maybe there is something wrong with me that nothing makes me happy.

I know that I would feel better if I just had a bit more time. I want to get rid of my second job but we need the money at the moment - and we dont know what will happen with DS1 when his DLA finishes this year.

Trying to cope with 2 jobs, all DS1s issues, keeping on top of stuff in the house, doing a bit of voluntary work as well as the bookkeeping for OHs business leaves me with no spare time at all and I have really felt that this week. Then again plenty of people work full time and manage it dont they?

Sorry for moaning. Its a lovely sunny day and I really need to crack on and achieve something today. Will start with a load of washing I think! Baby steps all the way.

Well the living room hasnt been this tidy for months.

Can't get used to life without a dog though, it's too quiet and I keep thinking I can hear the little jingle her name tag made.
Everywhere I look there's something that reminds me of her, I found her tennis ball under the sofa yesterday and out of the corner of my eye I'm sure I can see her curled up asleep maybe moving the furniture round would help but I don't know.
I've picked her ashes up, they are in a lovely wooden box with her name on and I've put it on a little table but want to think of something a bit more special.

2 loads of washing done and out on the line for the first time in ages.
The back garden is a mess, when the kids were younger I didn't bother doing much as they played football in there and for the last few years it's been a doggy playground so maybe it's time to get it sorted. I'd like a little Steff corner too with a nice bush of some sort. Something that flowers for a long time, will have to think about it.

    Hi Dibuzz

So sorry to hear about Steff.

Our last dog was called Steffi and apart from your dog I had never heard the name or names like it anywhere else.

They will be running free at Rainbow Bridge

    Lots of love and hugs

Thanks Gilly, she was called Tasha when we adopted her but she had only had that name in the kennels so wasn't used to it.
It took a while to agree on a name, one son wanted to call her Killa after Kevin "killa" Kilbane but calling a Staffie Killa isn't a good idea ;)
He also suggested Heskey which I liked but thought it sounded too male so we decided on Steff the Staff
Of course, she got called all sorts, her full name to us was Steffordshire Bull Terror :)
When people asked her name they always thought it was lovely and suited her.

Hi messies, long time no post for me, sorry for the absence... just been reading along a bit but didn't feel like posting.

Dibuzz, so sorry about your loss, and I love the idea of a special place in the garden for Steff. My beloved old spider-cat has his special place, and it makes me feel better.

Yorkshirelass, I know just how you feel. I do love my job but somehow the daily grind gets me down and things just seem such a struggle in term time.

I'm having some health problems at the moment, made a bit more complicated by peri-menopausal symptoms as well. My weight is a problem and I'm also really struggling with my desire to overeat.

on the up side, I always get a lift out of the garden, whatever the time of year. A bullfinch has started visiting the bird table, such a lovely bird. I'm plotting for spring already too.

I haven't done any de-messying this half term... I've actually made it worse by getting some fake terracotta plant pots from £stretcher and painting them. They look pretty good actually! I'm going to grow a lot of flowers in pots this year and needed to replace the frost-destroyed ceramic ones.

Hope all messies are doing ok... love to all xx

  • Hi Messies!

Dibuzz, our old lads are under the apple trees. It`s not just the apple blossom, or the daffs that come up there every spring, it`s my favourite place too because that`s where the birdfeeders are so the trees are teeming with life all year round. You never forget them, but remembering the good bits makes the hurt of losing them gradually easier. xx

FW, your evening at home with your friend sounds fun.

YL it`s ok to have a moan here! There`s nothing `wrong` with you, it just sounds like you`re fed up of doing too much. Hope it eases off a bit soon.

JPS, it`s good to hear from you but I am sorry to hear your health isn`t so good. I do sympathise with the weight problem, I`ve put loads on again since being off work as well as eating like a hog.

    Chez Emm-
Yesterday was pretty carp - lots of running around and getting nowhere, got myself irritable and frustrated, dropped and broke a favourite plate (there were only 2 of them but OH & I use them a lot) and the bits went everywhere so I had to Henry & change kitchen rugs just when I was trying to get the evening meal ready! THEN had a big row with OH for getting in the way rather than trying to help. I was not nice yesterday at all. DS & DGD kept out of my way, and Peace broke out before bedtime.
Today, DGD has gone to her other grandparents for a few days and so I keep thinking it`s Sunday, when she usually goes home. Her mum has a moulting Akita, and I now have 2 full carrier bags of Akita pluckings which I`ll be putting out for bird nesting material soon!
I`ve been a bit more productive today, washing and tidying, and doing a duck stir-fry with noodles for tonight, all prepped and ready, plus a couple of pork shanks (£1 each!) in the oven for tomorrow, sort of half roasted for the flavour then put lid on and turned the heat right down - not sure what I`ll do with them yet.
I still keep thinking it`s Monday tomorrow!
  • Dibuzz, huge respect to you for letting Steff The Staff go before she was truly suffering, that is a phenomenally difficult call. What a lucky dog she was to have found you! I'm so glad you have found some lovely ways to remember her.

Emm thanks for the good wishes - health problems are thankfully minor so far but going through lots of investigations is really wearing.

I've had a bit of a rush of blood to the head today and deep cleaned the bedroom, also moved the furniture around up there! Really knackered now, off to bed with me in a minute. Night messies xx
