Popped out to see that someone in the block was throwing some shelves out so grabbed one and it is now in my kitchen, with all my Kenwood accessories on it. So that has cleared another pile, and made a lot of space where I was storing them.

The weekend with OH went really well, we went out to a garden centre that had a sale on and got some alpines for a bowl I need to plant up, he arrived on Friday with 3 shrubs from the same garden centre as a valentines gift. We don't usually do valentines, so I was really touched. Sunday we mooched around with the papers and watched the Aviva Rugby on the TV. He seemed much more positive and even a bit cheerful at times. I am a bit of a loner and tend to shut him out at times, so I am making a real effort to open up more.
Here's hoping he can beat this depression.
Today have managed to almost clean the bathroom.....still a bit to do, clean kitchen floor and this afternoon I sorted a MOUNTAIN of paperwork after doing a bit of (paid) work. Feeling i have earned a rest as before all that I had a phone call from son's support staff about a couple of incidents this morning, one resulting in an electrician having to be called and the other in a member of staff going off duty. My son has autism, learning difficulties and behaviour which can challenge. So I also had a load of phone calls to make around this.
so tomorrow I will finish the bathroom. And maybe something else. Or not.
    Good vibes to all.

  • Emm, hope your appointments today and tomorrow go well and that the traveling isn't too stressful. I may follow your example and try to clear just one corner of the kitchen, who knows, it might inspire me to clear another one!

Dibuzz, hugs for you and Doggy.

Nlj, I suffer from depression and it can be a real roller coaster at times. While you need to support OH you must take care of yourself and make sure that you find some time to do things just for you. It's not selfish, you have enough to deal with without ending up poorly yourself.

OK, having been awake since before 5 with too much going around in my head I'm going to see is I can manage another hours sleep, then maybe later that corner in the kitchen may get sorted...

Doggy had a better night, the vet thought she was doing ok but won't be here much longer. She gave her a steroid injection and some tramadol tablets.
We are sticking them in a bit of raw sausage so she's happy with that.

Loads of hugs and good wishes to you, Dibbuzz. Such a difficult time for you.
Mummybobble I too have had several episodes of depression and am just off anti-depressants. With all this going on, you are right I will need to be self-aware to make sure I don't go back there without noticing. I am trying to make sure I look after myself too.........my main outlet is training at the gym which I love.
Feeling very achy today after yesterday's session, so will postpone today's training into tomorrow.

My cousin is coming today to pick up a cupboard that I don't want anymore that is perfect for her. After we've loaded that into her car, I expect we will go out somewhere nice. We have been known to go for coffee, which merges into lunch, which merges into afternoon tea we talk so much!

So stiff and sore today that i may not get much done in the house.
But will count getting rid of that cupboard as today's effort!

  • Good Morning Messies!

It`s sunny here this morning, and no rain forecast, no alarms on the AA route planner for today`s appt, so that`s a relief. It`s early afternoon so I`m having a quiet morning and not doing much.

Dibuzz, I hope Doggy will be comfortable for a bit now. Sausage meat is great for giving tablets, though my dear old Dafty-dog will take anything with a bit of pilchard.

Frugalsod, nice one on the shelving! That gave me an idea, too. One of the bits of `junk` I removed from the kitchen corner of Doom was a 4-tier steel bathroom-type shelf thing, it doesn`t fit in our bathroom anywhere, so got put in that corner and forgotten. I`ve put it outside for now as it needs a good clean, but I`ve decided to use it in downstairs loo to hold cleaning stuff. That will free up some space in under-sink cupboard, so that`s next on my agenda.

Mummybobble, if you`re anything like me it works better to aim at one corner or small area of a room! Then to concentrate on keeping that bit nice for a while. I started in LR over a year ago with mantelpiece and windowsills, and it was a battle to KEEP them clear for a few weeks, but then it was ok, and my efforts to tidy other parts of the room grew from that small start. (Computer corner is still a challenge though!)

Nlj, I`m glad your weekend went well, and hope things settle down with your son as it must be very stressful for you. A good loooong natter with your cousin sounds a perfect antidote - however many meals it spans!

I`ve fished some cooked chicken and some prawns out of the freezer, will do a green Thai curry tonight as it`ll be quick and easy. No wet rugs this morning either, which is always a bonus these days. I`ll have to start getting ready for this afternoon soon - I always get dressed in my `scruffs` first thing as I expect the worst, rug-washing & flooe mopping!

Have a good day all. x

I hope it goes well this afternoon Emm. I dont like afternoon appointments, I'd rather get it over with then I'm not thinking about it all day but that's partly because I don't like going out anyway.

  • Oh the luxury of not having to get up at half six to go to work! However I know from past experience that the novelty of being at home all the time does wear off ...

So the sun is shining, the kids are amusing themselves (for now), and I am getting on with some much needed cleaning. This lovely sunshine is definitely showing up some dusty corners in this house of mine.

So the washing machine is going non stop and I am just going to take the dog for a walk then it will be some hoovering and dusting for the afternoon.

Trying not to think about the car which is currently in the garage being MOT and serviced. Will be so glad when its done and I know how much the bill is going to be.

Emm, hope the appointment goes well. Dibuzz, big hugs for you and your doggie.

It's been sunny here, right up till the washing machine finished!
Doggy loves lying on the decking soaking up the sun but is struggling to get down the 2 steps into the garden, one of the tumours is growing into her back leg.
I've made her an appointment for Thursday morning and asked for a certain vet who is lovely and doggy loves her.
I just need another day with her before she goes.
Really not looking forward to it but she's not going to get better and I don't want to wait till she's in too much pain to put in the car.

  • I always find that tidying is a great way to start because cleaning round stuff is a real pain. And here is a really good tip, every time you pick something up and put it away have a look at all the things next to it in the cupboard and ask yourself whether or not you really need it. Its amazing how many times I put something away and notice that there are 5 things in there that haven't moved in months, sometimes years.

Its a real wrench to throw things out but if you have survived without it for so long just sling it.
