  • Hi Messies!

Everywhere was white when I got up - checked the travel news site, and our route was littered with exclamation marks - worse there than here, so phoned up and postponed the bone scan appt. , now having it next week. It`s still snowing here, but doesn`t seem to be sticking now.

Mobo, sounds like you`re so busy being busy you get a bit underwhelmed when you stop! It`s scarey how paperwork builds up as soon as you turn your back there`s another heap! Good thing to plan ahead though, de-cluttering your stuff before you face a house-move. And at least you can leave the other folks` clutter behind one day!

I`m treating today as a `bonus` day, being at home when I had expected to be out most of the day. Last night DS brought a heap of dirty pots out of his room and left them on the worktop. I`ve washed & put away the lot - will have a grizzle at him later! For now, I just wanted to reclaim the bit of recent progress in the kitchen.
No `accidents` by Dafty-dog, which is also a bonus. This is the first snow we`ve had since Littly-dog came, though she`s about 5 yrs old so must`ve seen snow before. I thought she`d be exited when I took them out, but she was NOT impressed!
(Nor would I be with a tummy that close to the ground!!)

I`ve emptied & cleaned deep fat fryer, will be putting it in storage in caravan of Doom, not getting rid as we may want to use it sometime. Still on kitchen de-cluttering mission, but baby-steps there as I`m still thinking how to rearrange stuff that gets used often. I`ve done great blitzes there before, found it wasn`t really thought out, but got disheartened and left things , so not doing it that way this time. As it`s bins day I`ve done a lot clearance in kitchen cupboards - the ones that I can`t reach well, so stuff in there gets forgotten, goes off, damp, etc. I`ve cleared one whole top cupboard and cleaned it, but had to climb to get to it, not ideal.
Nice looking at the empty space though!

Have a decent day everyone. x

    Good morning messies !

Hope everyone is well , Last night was a cold one !

Hi Emm how are you going with the kitchen decluttering ? well done on doing the deep fat fryer that would be a job i would definately put off :T
Think you could be right about feeling underwhelmed also I think that i normally work 6 days before having a day off so on my days off I normally end up sleeping but as I've been off about 10 days actually had time to myself for a change !

Took dog out earlier but was snowing so she dragged me back home , must be a dog thing , she just loves to be warm and toasty but can't say as i blame her:)

Back to work on thurs after nearly 2 weeks off (had chest infection) really must try and get motivated before I go back , off now to try and find it :D

  • Morning everyone

Mobo, there is a bit of a snowball effect and once you start to see results its spurs you on to do more. The trick is not to get too disheartened and give up if it all goes pear shaped and the house starts to look really messy again.

Feeling a bit fed up this morning. I have been asked to do something at work that I dont really think is my job (in other words its been dumped on me) and I feel a bit out of my depth. I have to have a conference call this afternoon about it which I am dreading.

Went to hospital with DS1 yesterday and one of his inflammation markers is up so he has to have a scan. Poor kid. Then I start thinking how will I cope if he gets really ill again or has to have new treatments?

Oh and its raining here - no snow.

Fw, farm tidying. That kind of takes it to a whole new level doesnt it?? Have visions of you going round the barns with a feather duster..

Need to get moving, will be glad when today is over.
  • Morning all!!

YL - Hope your son is ok, mine has been taken off his meds because he can't tolerate a high enough dose, seeing consultant in April, i think they might start him on daily injections that he has to do himself!

Farm tidying is going well, new shed will be finished today & cows will move in (after i've given them a hair cut!) I've baked a sponge and got raspberry buns in oven at mo, cooked a chicken yesterday so lunch is sorted. Put a load of kids washing in this morning, i made them bring their laundry down which usually results in loads of moaning but they were ok about it.

Off to check rasp buns then get changed to go and work outside!

    Take care all!

    Jxx
    It's a farmers life for me......:j
  • Good Morning Messies!

Mobo, if you`re normally working 6 days on the trot no wonder you have to catch up on sleep when you have a day off! I`ve had what I call `marathon` shifts and done the same!
Re deep fat fryer, I used some stuff called `Elbow Grease` (spray bottle £1) that is brilliant for shifting the toffee-like goo of cooked on oil!

YL, I hope all goes well for your DS, and your conference call. Don`t be fretting in advance, and remember you`ll soon have a bit more time to call your own.
You`re so right about once you start seeing a bit of a result for your efforts spurring us on to do more. I`ve hit a problem in the kitchen though. The cereal tubs that we keep the wild birdfood in are kept on the windowsill, and I want to put them in the top cupboard where I can hardly reach but OH can reach easily. He`s the one who fills the feeders, so I don`t see why he`d object - but he does! (Doesn`t like change. Sulks.)
I`ve not made the move yet, but will probably do it later today.

FW, I hope the cows appreciate your efforts and behave well for their haircuts. I can just imagine you talking to them while you do it...or do you sing to them (like Ruth on the Archers)?

I have to nip out to farmshop now, we`re out of spuds & fresh veg & eggs. No idea what I`ll cook tonight, it`ll depend what veg I get then find/thaw some meat to go with it! I`m going to potter on in the kitchen then - it`s amazing how much stuff there is in such a small room, and I really want to re-arrange things well this time.

    Laters...

It was lovely and sunny this afternoon so I walked down to the care home (just over a mile away). My neighbour's son was there and offered me a lift home and 5 minutes after I got in it started hailstoning and it's now snowing so I'm glad I accepted the lift.
All I've done today is wash some towels.
Doggy is ok but sleeping a lot, she seems happy and comfortable for now so I will see how she goes but I can't see it being long now.
I'm determined to finish stripping the living room when she's gone, at least I have plenty to keep me occuppied.

  • Thanks all, the conference call was fine and it was such a relief when it was done! I am hoping that this is the last of this piece of work that I have to worry about.

FW, thanks, the injections have been mentioned to us. I just worry that DS will refuse to have them, he is getting a bit like that. They have said that they may increase the frequency of his Infliximab but its just the thought of side effects that worries me. Anyhow, we will wait for the scan and take it from there.

The weather is awful here tonight and I am a bit worried about the strength of the wind that they are predicting.

We are getting a new electricity meter fitted tomorrow so that means clearing out the junk cupboard where it lives!! That will keep me busy for a bit when I get home from work.

    .

Hi Yorkshirelass, hope you don't mind me butting in, but I am an infliximab patient too. Don't worry too much about the possible side effects…take a look at the leaflet with paracetamol or something you take without a second thought…we wouldn't take them if we worried about the side effects. There is a lovely support group on fb called Remicade where you can chat through your concerns…there are some patients on there as well as some parents of patients.
