Morning Messies!
Frugalsod, well done on the painless magazine cull!
Tattycath, OH`s sometimes don`t see the obvious, maybe because they might feel partly accountable. Hopefully when your meds start kicking in he`ll see a bit of difference, then understand a bit better.
YL, give yourself time to get used to the mattress. Even a change of pillows can feel strange till you get used to a new one! I hope your car doesn`t present you with any nasty surprises - mine is due MOT soon, got to arrange that this week & hope appts don`t turn up and clash in the meantime!
Chez Emm...
The fire has been quite smoky last few evenings, maybe due to wind, but also well overdue for chimney sweep so I`ve booked him for Thursday morning.
DS back home last night, polished off the last of the leftover curry & sides, but still have a dollop of tarka dal left, will freeze that. OH & I had HM roasted red pepper soup with fried up ham `croutons` & garlic flatbread. Yes, the kitchen was a bit ...er, colourful but I`ve dealt with it!
OH has a dental appt in an hour or so, I`ll drop him off and nip into town then pick him up after. If I have to wait in the car it won`t be a bad thing because that seems to be the only time I gather rubbish from the car for the bin! I accumulate so many car park tickets and till receipts that just get left in the car, disgraceful even for a Messy!
Haven`t decided what to cook today yet, hoping for inspirational whim later.....
Have a nice day all. x0 -
Hi all
Emm - I did exactly as you described recently - I had a hosp apt - just a routine thing - arrived super early as I was worried about parking so sat with the radio on for a bit then spied a carrier bag and started gathering together the rubbish - filled it up! Oops!
Done lots today, only worked part of the day but think I was a bit too ambitious with my list of things I was aiming to do so feel like I've barely skimmed the surface. Visitors on Saturday so must improve!0 -
I'd need a roll of bin bags to empty my youngest son and daughter's cars.
I've still only done the basics again - washing, dishes etc but hoping to get more done tomorrow when there's only me here.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Not much achieved here I'm afraid. DD2 has done a few loads of washing for me-bless her.
I've made a list for tomorrow and hoping to achieve considerably more than I have today.
I find I work better when I make a list and a rough idea of how long each job should take-fingers crossed this works tomorrow.GE 36 *MFD may 2043

Just started reading the tail end of this thread and feel the need to confess and spur myself on. My sorting out goes in fits and starts and I had 1 and a half days where I could have done some this week and have done NOTHING. Blaming it on the cold I picked up, but even so, I could have sat and done paperwork.
No time now until end of next week as away.
I am fed up of tripping over stuff and having to 'dance' up the stairs to avoid stuff that I have left on the sides ready to be taken up.
Paperwork is in a mess so I have been losing important documents.
I smoke, so everything smells of that.
When I have the energy I can get a lot done, but recently have been a bit 'flat' and cannot motivate myself. Have been coming off meds so maybe once my body is used to that things will improve.
I am out all day today at son's, then need to pack for trip, on a course all day tomorrow and then not home again until middle of next week.
I think my brain is even more cluttered than my house!
So being realistic, will get lounge tidy and kitchen tidy before i go away. This will avoid the sinking feeling when I return and hopefully spur me on.'Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.' T S Eliot0 -
Morning Messies!
Welcome, nlj - I too have a cluttered brain! I think you`re wise to tidy kitchen before you go away, that`s the worst `sinking` feeling there is coming in to a manky kitchen that`s been left for a few days. Try to enjoy your time away, and let us know how you get on.
I`m definitely OFF lists here. I know they work well for some folks, but I seem to have this perverse streak in me that, even when I`ve made a list, I find myself tackling something else that isn`t even on the list! Mostly, I feel like just keeping on top of the very basics is an achievement, anything else that gets done is either a bonus or a minor miracle!
Yesterday, I had intended blitzing LR before the chimney sweep comes today, but I got side-tracked putting some stuff away in DGD`s room, then started tackling the mess behind and under her bed - without even pulling out the storage boxes, I got another binbag of rubbish and a breeding colony of odd socks!
Today, so far..
I`ve got up early to be ready for chimney sweep. LR rug now in WM as Dear old Dafty-dog had piddled again, ashes taken out, coal bucket & log basket moved into kitchen out of the way (as it`s drizzling outside) and that`s it, ready. The rest of the room isn`t that bad after all, and anyway the sweep always looks out of the window at the birds on the feeders, same every time he`s here!
I`m SO glad I didn`t do the kitchen floor the other day, it`s going to have to get dfone today after the coal buckets etc....
Have a nice day all. x0 -
Update...
Sweep has been & gone, LR blitzed afterwards, then kitchen FLOOR at last restored to it`s original grotty light beige (at one point I was considering using an ice scraper...) all rugs (LR, kitchen, back door & downstairs loo) washed and clean ones put down, dog beds washed & clean ones down.
Phew.
The daft thing is, I didn`t make a start till mid-day. I`ve got all that stuff done in just under 2 hours, and that wasn`t rushing at it.0 -
Hi everyone,
The day started well and ended with me blinding myself with porridge oats, hurting my foot, breaking the mop and then still having to deal with the exploded bin bag that started the whole thing off!0 -
I agree with you about lists too Emm.0

Sounds like a fun day Alec
I've cleaned the bathroom, the shower screen no longer looks frosted.
Also had a quick run round with the hoover and even put it away when I'd finished.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140
