My home is a mess

Morning all!
Alec E - hope you`ve recovered from your exploding binbag disaster. Shame about the mop though - I`ve had mine for AGES (only it`s had 2 new handles & several new heads - sorry , old joke but it`s actually true in my case! have unscrewable string heads that go in WM after use.)
Dibuzz, well done on the bathroom and hoovering. I am pants at not putting hoover away - Henry tends to lurk for ages near the spot where last used...
Today -
still `sitting on my laurels` feeling pleased with myself for yesterdays` efforts. Coming down to a clean kitchen floor was such a novelty this morning.
And Dafty-dog hadn`t piddled in LR last night.
And the sun is shining.
I have TWO appts today, then picking up DGD aftrer school, so not much will be done in the house. I`m still hoping to get more done in DGD`s room over the weekend though.
Have a great Friday all. x0 -
I am fully recovered now thanks! I think I can fix the mop, it's one with an unscrewable head too so I think I should just be able to tape it back together or something.
I henryed the upstairs of the house for the first time this year yesterday so that's a good thing. I make sure I always put Henry away as one of the buns detests him and bites his eyes.
Doing a load of small tasks this week has helped me feel a bit more friendly towards the house and thigs seem reasonably organised for the weekend, just a few bits and bobs to put away. I'm concentrating on laundry today. I may even do a bit of ironing as I have a load of quilt blocks to press. Plus I get to lean against the radiator when I iron so it's toasty warm.
Have a good weekend.0 -
Sorry I've been MIA for a while - work stuff is really getting on top of me and getting me down. Sometimes I get to keep on top of the basics, sometimes I let them slide, sometimes OH even lends a hand but none of it is particularly noteworthy! Last weekend and the beginning of the week I was really feeling under the weather. Had a couple of meetings Mon & Tue that were important so had to make myself go in but had a plan for a sickie on Wednesday... and wouldn't you know it, woke up feeling bright and breezy instead - no way I could even fake sounding ill!
Anyway weather forecast for tomorrow is absolutely dire and I've got last weekend's failure to do anything to make up for so with no plans to leave the house tomorrow, I think I might get back on top of the mess again!0 -
Hi everybody!
Alec e - I'm laughing at the thought of the buns attacking the Henry!! So funny! haha!!
I've had poorly children off school since wednesday so basically i've used that as an excuse to do the bare minimum!! I've spent the past 3 days watching tv with them. I now have loads of things to catch up on!! Grr!!
The weather has been lovely today, but i can't help thinking about all the poor people in Somerset that are flooded, it's just awful.
Have a good weekend everyone!
JxxIt's a farmers life for me......:j0 -

Good morning! Luckily the sun is shining here (for now...) otherwise after the week I've had I'd stay in bed with my head under the duvet
As it is I'm going to tackle the washing up mountain (hasn't been done since Wednesday I'm afraid  ) then going to either iron or sort through paperwork while I watch Saturday Kitchen.
Off to create additional washing up with another cup of tea and some toast before I start (hmm, sounds like I'm putting it off already :rotfl: ) Mind you, I have already done one load of washing and thrown out some rubbish from the room that is laughingly known as the "office" (must do something about this room soon as earlier in the week I slipped as I was climbing over all the carp to sit down on the chair, fell off, banged my back on the chair, my bum on the floor and my head on the desk on the way down...)0 -
Hi Messies!
Mobo, welcome! Of course we don`t mind, the more the merrier. It IS hard, cleaning round other folks` accumulation of stuff, whether it`s your parent or other half or your offspring! Bad enough when it`s your own junk, but at least then you have the right to clear it....I tell meself this house could be so much better if DS would part with his dead computer collection, etc, but it`s not going to happen!
At least your situation is temporary, so take heart and try not to let it get you down.
Alec E, I had to chuckle about the bun too - poor Henry!
FW, hope your young poorlies are better now. As you say, a few days` catching up is bad enough, but the aftermath of having your home flooded is just horrible - and especially for farmers, as it`s their livelihood as well as their homes. Last week`s Countryfile made me cry - the farmer who had kept having to move his cows, and the flood still not subsiding.
Sonastin - it sounds like just the thought of a sickie did the trick and made you feel better! I`m quite ashamed to be feeling overwhelmed by just having so many appointments while I`m off work, I`m quite well in myself but can`t go back till all the treatment is done - so much more I could be doing in this period to get the house sorted, a chance I won`t have when I`m back at work.
Mummybobble - when you are falling over stuff like that it`s trying to tell you something!
Chez-Emm-
I`ve done a bit of de-cluttering of kitchen worktops this morning, being abnormally careful not to wipe stuff onto the still abnormally clean floor! I`m considering putting deep fat fryer away, it`s taking up too much worktop space and rarely used lately.
DGD is full of a snotty cold, so plans to sort the carp under her bed being put on hold for now - on condition the rest of the room stays clear now she`s back in it for the weekend!
I`m feeling inclined to carry on pottering in the kitchen today, do more de-cluttering while I`m cooking & feeding WM, ride the mood while it lasts!
Have a good weekend all. x0 -
Hi Emm and Thankyou for warm welcome , you've got it spot on about other peoples clutter its so annoying! Hope you managed to make the most of your decluttering mood !
All i have managed to do today is walk the dog , I would actually have been cleaning today as feel quite up for it ,but oh went out last night and instead of sleeping in bed has come and laid on other settee and is currently snoring his head off, so I have been watching JumanjiCC1-£1729.53

I've decluttered my corner by boxing up some crocheted squares and tiny baby hats read to post on Monday.
The usual washing and dishes have been done and I've just sneaked the sofa throw into the washing machine while doggy isn't looking so she doesn't give me dirty looks :undecided14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
I think we have reached decision time.
Doggy has another lump, barely visible on Friday but had grown quite a lot by bedtime last night.
I don't know what I will do without her but it's not fair for her to keep having operations, she takes longer to recover each time and is 10-11 years old now.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140
