My home is a mess

I've finally done the front room, it takes ages on my own because I have to keep stopping to move things, I really need to do some serious decluttering.
My corner is now clean and tidy but it won't last long once I get my knitting out again.
The dog has just had a mad run round enjoying the floor space and is now flaked out on the sofa snoring.
I've also cleaned the top of the cooker, I daren't do the oven when I'm on my own as I usually need help to get back up again14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Hi Messies!
Another grey wet day here, light snow (YUCK!) forecast for tomorrow. Hope they got it wrong...
Dibuzz, my meal-plans are usually pretty loose and often subject to change, also sometimes don`t include DS (his choice, not mine!) as he often doesn`t want to eat when stuff is ready or prefers to have something like egg/ham/beans etc.
And DGD is vegetarian, rather picky, and loves pasta which OH isn`t keen on, so I know the feeling you describe!
YL, thanks for your kind words there. x
I don`t really see it as having had a hard time, somehow - I actually feel I`ve been very lucky to have had things diagnosed and treated/removed before they got chance to fester! There has been quite a bit of anxiety at times, waiting for lab results etc., but mostly I`ve stayed positive because I felt there was no other option! I DID do the Gloom & Despair bit 11 years ago with the first breast tumour, but was proved wrong & lived to learn my lesson. They tell me my prognosis is `excellent` so now I`m happy to believe them.
Going from full-time homebody to 2 jobs is a bit much for anyone, I think you`re wise to let one go as soon as you can.
Re the days getting longer - I think that`s the trouble you know! It`s not like we`re REALLY getting more daylight, just prolonging the `dusk-all-day` feeling. On the shortest days, at least it`s proper darkness and you can batten down the hatches early and try to get cosy. A couple of hours sunshine would not go amiss!
Alec E - I`d need an album for `pantry` photos - my pantry is what used to be a small airing cupboard, but it has gradually overflowed into caravan of Doom, 2 lots of shelves in spare room of Doom, and quite a bit on kitchen worktops too. And the freezers...don`t want to go there!
Kayester, belated Happy Birthday to your DD, and well done keeping up with things despite the party. My kitchen floor is still dire, but not getting any worse - or so it seems....
Chez-Emm
We had a nice little break yesterday evening - our chosen watering-hole is very old-fashioned, no telly etc, and we sat by the fire and had a cosy natter and met a few folks we`d not seen for ages. Supper was simple, and the interwb was rubbish so we didn`t watch the usual catch-ups and put on a DVD instead - Star Wars, of all things! Pure nostalgia.
Today-
I`ve done kitchen basics (excluding floor), made a few soggy trips to outside bins, and taken dogs out. Checked bargain duckling, will cook it tonight with steamed spuds & sprouts.
DS won`t eat this, so I`ve got a lasagne out of freezer for him.
I have to go and get ready for my Onology appt this afternoon in a minute.
Tomorrow OH has a hospital appt (eyes check-up) first thing, and we`ve planned a trip `abroad` (England!) for after that - to a certain famous Transport Caff in Shropshire, they do an amazing brunch...so planning a light supper, will thaw some yellow fish. Nice bit of planning we did in the pub, eh?
Have a nice afternoon all. x0 -
Dibuzz - well done, you`ve done loads this morning! Had to chuckle at your dog `enjoying the floor space`, can just picture it! My knitting looks a bit cluttery too, but I`m taking it with me this afternoon...0

Hello Messies,
This month was a minor win. I am abandoning the clearing for this month. Concentrating on other things. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -
My mind wants to do more now I've started but my body is saying "get lost if you want to be able to move tomorrow" and I've got a banging headache so taking a break now.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140

Hi all
Emm, hope the check up goes well and enjoy your trip!
Just checking in quickly, need to be getting ready for work and I am struggling with motivation. Just realised that its only 2 weeks until half term then I am off for a week - I really need to make the most of this holiday and get a rest. Right, paid stuff to get to.0 -
Have a nice trip out Emm.
Hope everyone's ok today.
I've had a relaxing but fairly productive morning. I've cleaned the stuff I bought from the charity shop as I didn't get round to it yesterday and found a home for it and filled it all with stuff. This has meant I've been able to rearrange the kitchen cupboards and deal with some stuff that's been getting on my nerves for a while.
Doing a bit of cooking later in then hopefully it'll be a quiet evening.0 -
Hi Messies,
Well even after abandoning the cleaning for this month, I am starting to get ready for next month and will be planning a plan of attack on the mess. I am going to have to buck my ideas up over the diet and the cleaning so might as well start preparing for it all. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -

Hi Messies!
Well, OH`s eyes are fine but he`ll have another check in 6 months. Our little trip over the border was lovely, but we`re still feeling full! No appts now for a week or 2, so this could be a good chance to get to grips with housey things. I really MUST convince myself.....all kicks up the @rse will be gratefully recieved!0
