A blanket fort is like a den made out of blankets and cushions, under the dining table or whatever. If it's not tied securely our house rabbits will wreck it!

That's what I thought it was but couldn't see why your hubby would want one and when you said buns I was thinking of the bread variety :rotfl:

I just wanted to share this pic of my daft dog snoozing the day away as usual.

My home took a turn for the worse. A big parcel from Approvedfoods arrived so my cupboards are even more packed than usual. Though I do not expect anything else for a while so it should start to get better. At least I will not starve.
It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.
  • Aw Dibuzz, your doggy is so cute. Mine is under the blanket next to me on the sofa - whimpering. He is either chasing bunnies in his sleep or being chased by something bigger than him!!

Went out for tea tonight which was lovely. I am very sleepy now so going to be in bed soon even if it is Friday night!

    Hi Messies :hello:

Just want to say a big thank you to everyone on this thread. I found it 2 weeks ago... and I now find myself sitting in a clean and tidy home

I have made myself do something every day, some days it's just doing a load of laundry and some days I've had more motivation and blasted a whole room. Whenever I feel my motivation stalling I'll read through a few more pages of this thread and somehow I now find myself in a beautiful home again and I have to say it feels AMAZING!

Don't get me wrong there are still things to be done (under the bed storage/ various cupboards/ drawers etc) but I feel like I'm really getting there. When I hear the doorbell instead of panicking that someone will see my mess - I want people to come in to see how nice it looks!

I know I'm still a messy at heart (and probably always will be!) and I will still be visiting this thread with great frequency to keep me on track, but a really big THANK YOU to everyone!:T

    It's wet and windy here.
Eldest son offered to go shopping with me as it's his turn to take in treats for his monthly meeting at work.
£112 later it's all now put away and Im just having a cup or tea to recover.
3rd load of washing is in, I can't wait till the weather improves and I can hang it out.
I'm going to sort out my corner this afternoon, things just seem to build up as its where I always sit so I'm always surrounded by wool, knitting needles, crochet hooks and patterns.

  • Hi Messies!

Dibuzz, thanks for posting the pic, she`s lovely! I don`t blame you knitting stuff for charity if you don`t have folks who`d appreciate your efforts. I was so impressed with those Minions though - have you thought of knitting small `toys` ? I`m thinking little family of dolls, little `family` of teddies, set of small animals in an ark, that sort of thing. I have a little knitted nativity set made by an old lady I knew years ago, and everyone loves it! You are obviously very creative and the stuff I`m thinking of would sell as well as hats! And use up all the scraps too.

AlecE, I`d pictured the fort as a giant cat-nest type thing.

Beckyboo, well done on de-messifying in such a short time. It helps if we only do a little bit, and it helps if we share the ups & downs. It doesn`t have to be a showhome, but feeling comfortable with what you`ve done is a great achievement.

Well, I hope all Messies are having a good weekend. Not much getting done here, but the knitting`s growing...

Thanks Emm, I don't have the confidence to sell things. My mum's neighbour sometimes asks for things for new babies in her family and I'm always so nervous and stressed until I know she likes them.
I was very happy with the minions especially as I just made them up.
For now I'm just enjoying making little hats and blanket squares.

  • Good Morning Messies!

Dibuzz, I bet if you took a little set of minions to a CS they`d sell, and the other stuff I mentioned. 30-odd years ago I used to make little families of felt mice for our local dog rescue charity (which has since folded, sadly. The old ladies who ran it are all long gone, but they were real characters. I used to sometimes `foster` dogs for re-homing too, and visit when they went to new homes.) There were 2 grandparent mice (with grey whiskers), 2 parents (with black or brown whiskers), and 2 smaller mice with white whiskers & little nappies, one with a tiny blue bow & one with a pink one. The whole lot fitted in an egg-box, and the sets used to sell for £5 - that was a good sum back then! We made and sold lots of other stuff too, but the mice always sold out "because they were different". And there was so little cost in the materials to make them because they were so small. Happy days! Thanks for bringing them back to mind, anyway.

    Chez-Emm -
Weather is FOUL here this weekend. Dear old Dafty-dog is VERY reluctant to do what she should outside in rain & wind, and even though she`s been out regularly there have been Wet Rugs...so WM has been doing overtime to keep up. I`d never have thought pure wool would be so practical, and wash well & dry pretty quickly. WM gets very hairy though, so have to clean the drum before `normal` stuff goes in.

    Kitchen -
Done pots/sink/tops. Floor is Dreadful. Really. Wet dirty feet of 3 species have completely missed the absorbent mat by the back door it appears, and then trodden on crunchy dog biscuits, dust buffaloes, and spilled peelings....a `mystery ingredient` as well, some bits of hash brown! ( I made a sort of quiche the other day, using thawed crumbled hash browns & melted butter as base instead of pastry. It was yummy but messy - might as well have made the mess with pastry after all!)

LR - reasonable, now that I`ve done the floor and changed rugs AGAIN. Except for newly washed woolly rug draped on nursery fireguard being a sort of permanent fixture lately....

Hall/stairs/ landing - still ok at carpet level but laundry airing wherever it can be hung, spoils the effect a bit.

Bedroom - recent improvement maintained, but no further progress in there. (I got becalmed by my knitting, I think)

Not much else will get done here today. Will be doing the RSPB Garden Birdwatch count with OH in a bit, then sorting DGD out and roasting a chicken/steam some veg (sprouts on the stalk, so just need a rinse, little `new` carrots likewise & just cut tops off, and small spuds, so no peeling today!)
Looking forward to a quiet evening with fire & bit of telly.

    have a nice Sunday all.x
