My home is a mess

Doggy is home, not sure if it was the right thing though.
She was her usual excited self in the vets, had a little growl at a huge burmese mountain dog (wouldn't like that sleeping on my bed!) then wouldn't walk past a tiny little "rat on a lead" type dog :rotfl:
The vet examined her and confirmed that she was palliative care only.
She has given her antibiotics and pain relief and all was fine until we heard a strange thudding noise.
Doggy had been up to eldest son's room, he spends all his time on his computer and she often goes up and lies on his bed. She was struggling to get down the stairs, walking down with her front legs but just sliding her back end down.
I decided to sleep down here with her, expecting her to get on the sofa with me like normal but she stayed in her basket all night.
When I got back from taking eldest to the station she was waiting by her lead so we had a very short walk and she's back in her basket.
If she'd had the problem with the stairs before we went to the vet's I don't think we would have brought her back but she has an appointment next Thursday but I can get her in at any time if I think she needs it.
We've moved the broken fence panels, neighbour came out as we were doing it and said she will replace the fence later in the year but we've both agreed there is no rush especially with more bad weather expected.
We have patched up the damaged panel in the back although I doubt doggy would try to get through now.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
So sorry to hear about your poorly dog. Heart-breaking time for you.
I am back from my trip to visit my Dad in Cornwall............the drive back through the wind, rain and hail took over 6 hours and I was shattered when I got home. Then yesterday was out visiting my son for the day, so no de-cluttering at all got done. Today is pretty clear until this evening, so need to work out priorities............Lounge needs dusting, tidying and hoovering. Kitchen needs a quick spruce. Trip to the dump with rubbish from my son's garden so must add some bits of my own to that. If I can be bothered I'll then do the bathroom I think.
I've been trying to catch up on the washing (with limited success) and gradually emptying the mobile skip (also known as a car).
OH is coming here this weekend, and he has been quite low recently and says he needs to keep busy. Normally we would go watch a local rugby team on a Saturday afternoon, but they are all cancelled because of waterlogged pitches, so need to think of something to do that isn't weather dependent. The coat hooks in the porch are coming out of the wall, so he can help me repair that (he loves that sort of thing) and i am thinking of redecorating so perhaps some sample paint pots to play with? No chance of doing anything in the garden!!!! IF there's a gap in the weather there's some lovely woods near me and I found a signboard all about an Iron Age Hill Fort a decent walk from the car park, so will drag him to that as he enjoys archeology too.
He saw the doctor for a routine appointment about his diabetes and told the doc he was depressed but didn't want medication as he wants to deal with it himself. I feel very selfish, because I respect that, but feel that it puts added pressure on me. I have a disabled son living an hour away ( with support staff, but I am still very involved) and a father with dementia (with a fabulous wife to support him, but she needs a break) and now my partner needs support too. Feel like Atlas holding up the world and my arms are getting tired!!
Apologies for moan......perhaps housework will take my mind off it (grin).'Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.' T S Eliot0 -
Hi Messies!
Dibuzz, it`s good that you can get doggy to the vet before the appt if you feel you need to. She`s probably going on instinct to stay on the flat, on her bed, after her trouble getting downstairs. Poor little thing. It`s a horrible time for you. x
NLJ, no need to apologise for having a moan here! You have a lot to deal with and a lot on your mind at once! Housework might be an antidote to some extent, but don`t overdo it and wear yourself out. I hope you have a decent weekend with OH, but I`d plan on indoorsy stuff - there`s still far too much weather about!
Chez-Emm -
DGD is in residence early this week, as her school was closed yesterday & today due to storm damage - she`s the only person I know who isn`t moaning about the weather!
I`ve got washing hanging up all over the place, and I`m still faffing about moving things around in the kitchen. Progress isd very slow, but steady, and the birdfood tubs are now in the top cupboard where OH can reach - after his initial sulk he put them in there himself! I`ve put a nest of clear pyrex stuff on the windowsill, stuff that gets used quite often and it doesn`t block the light, so I`m pleased with that bit.
Current part of kitchen mission is the bottom corner beside the fridge, it`s like a mini `gloryhole`! I`m chucking out or re-homing as much as possible, but not sure yet what to do with the space when it`s all cleared out.
Have a decent day all.x
Drags self back into kitchen....0 -
I had hoped to do some clearing today but woke to find more than 700 emails that needed checking. Good job I did I found three phishing attempts to get my eBay password. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0

need to think of something to do that isn't weather dependent. (grin).
Yeah me too, all footie is cancelled tomorrow. nlj I can relate to what you say about your OH. I care for my son who suffers with anxiety and depression as well as other health problems and it can be draining. You wouldnt be human if you didnt feel a bit resentful sometimes with everything you are coping with. Sounds like getting out for a bit tomorrow is a good plan - if the weather is OK.
Oh and Dibuzz. Words just cant say it properly but I really feel for you. Hugs.
So, just have some finishing off to do with job number 2 then a whole weeks holiday, first one in over 5 months so I am really looking forward to it. Bit concerned about our finances though. Will have to find someone to fix our roof - the cost is unlikely to be enough to make it worth an insurance claim but with the car MOT on Tuesday and hubbys Van to tax its going to be really tight this month.
Will have to find creative ways to entertain the kids next week - not easy with teenagers! We were thinking about going to visit family, glad I said no now as that wouldnt have been cheap.
Right, bit of washing up to do. I really should get that work finished.0 -
All I've done today is one load of washing.
Not been feeling too good for a couple of days and cant even knit or crochet because my hands are too stiff and painful.
Plenty of cuddles with doggy though which is more important than cleaning up14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Thinking about you and your doggie Dibuzz.
Lovely morning here, although looking at the forecast its not going to last. Have got bedding in the washing machine in the hope that I might actually be able to hang it out!
Football today with DS2, first time its been dry enough for a few weeks. Will try and get doggie out for a decent walk first - he was home alone for quite a while yesterday. Then its the usual Sunday pottering about.
Oh, and my brother and niece are going to call in for a brief visit later which will be lovely. They live down South and are on their way to visit relatives further up North and I dont see them as often as I would like.
So all in all not a bad day, especially if the sun keeps shining!0 -
Good Morning (it is, for a change!)
Nice and sunny here, and no rain forecast today. I`ve done a WM load this morning, but not putting it outside because it`s so muddy out there...no wet rugs this morning, so I`m up to date with laundry, which is nice.
I spent ages yesterday sending a long proper catch-up e-mail to my best friend, this morning I discovered it`s bounced back to me as I got the address wrong! GRRRR! I have now printed it off to post to her in the morning.
I had hoped to get more done in DGD`s room this weekend, but that didn`t happen. There`s always this afternoon, but as it`s the only rain-free day we`ve had in ages we`re going to take Littly-dog out for a good walk instead.
Have a nice Sunday all. x0 -
Doggy was up and down all night, drinking full bowls of water then going out for a wee and looks miserable so I've made her an appointment for 2pm.
She was still waiting for me as usual at the door when I got back from dropping eldest off at the station so we walked slowly round the block.
I tried to get her to turn round at the corner and come back but she's a stubborn little thing and refuses.
I doubt anything will get done today. Daughter's uniform is in the washing machine so will put it on the radiator when it finishes, it doesn't need ironing and if she's in at 7 it will be nice and warm when she puts it on.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Good Morning - back to the normal wet days again!
Dibuzz, some people say dogs can`t tell us how they feel, but you`re the one closest to her and you can see see looks miserable, even though you`ve described her as a happy little thing before. Doggy is lucky to have an owner like you. (HUGS) x
YL - enjoy your week off, you deserve it. I hope your car MOT goes well, mine is for MOT this week too. I hate waiting to hear the outcome, apart from the potential expense.
Well, DGD`s school has been mended (with parts still cordoned off apparently) so she`s got another week then it`s half-term. Today I have to pick up my new sick note from GP then drop it in at work - I could post it but I`d rather take it in myself, see a few colleagues and speak to Sister & Manager about where I`m up to treatment wise. They`ve been great, but they like to be kept informed.
Tomorrow afternoon is my radiotherapy `planning` appt where they do all the measuring up, and then Wednesday morning I`ve got a bone density scan appt. Both are at different hospitals from the one where I work, so there`ll be a fair bit of travelling this week.
I should plan some meals for the week but haven`t got round to it yet. I`m really pleased with my efforts in the corner of the kitchen, the whole little room looks better for it, but I`m just not in a creative mood food-wise.0
