  • Hi Messies!

Kat, sounds like you had a busy Christmas. Hope the next few weeks go smoothly for you, & good luck to your OH too.

JPS, enjoy the weekend now, take it easy! DS is a lot less `explosive` today too.

FW - glad to hear the meds are kicking in, I bet a bit of sunshine wouldn`t go amiss either!

YL, maybe your boss is being sympathetic, not critical...? Anyway, enjoy your weekend.

Dibuzz & Doggy - drains do hurt a bit when removed, especially the longer they`ve been in. I didn`t have a drain this time with my op, just a `pressure bandage` instead, but the area is more swollen & bruisy since it came off, didn`t have that when they did t`other side and put a drain in! Can`t win! I just hope it`s settled down by the time I go back for results (15th)

Frugalsod - well done with the pots. I used to sometimes have a few days` worth, but I now try to make myself have a `clear sink` at least once every 24hrs, even if it`s the only daily target I keep to.

    Today -
Spent the morning traipsing round town, got all the errands sorted. Also bought Littly-dog a new bed (to alternate with her other for laundrying) in a closing down sale -£3.99! She is now snoring on it - take that as approval then.
Got home to find downstairs loo is glugging, and drain outside looks higher than normal. Last time I waited till Things Turned Nasty...so I`ve rung water board as I`ve learned my lesson there. Waiting for the drain sludge-gulper thingy now.
Have to nip out and fetch DGD from school in a bit, but otherwise looking forward to a quiet weekend.
    Take are all.x

Just had a call from the vet, the tumour was cancerous like the last one and it's in her lymph nodes.
She could go to a specialist in Liverpool which would cost at least £1k but it's not about the money, I don't need to decide yet but I don't think chemo would be fair on her.
She's a lively and happy dog and I don't want her being miserable and in pain for longer than she needs to be so I think it's just matter of time now.
I will keep up with the washing but apart from that I'm going to spend all my time with my girl so the house will be worse than ever.

  • Emm - Sunshine is just what i need right now!! Hope the sludge gulper turns up soon!!

Dibuzz - Sorry to hear about your doggy. We had a rescue lurcher that came into the house limping one day and the vet diagnosed a bone tumour in her leg. We could have had it amputated but she was 12 and it didn't seem fair on her, she lived quite happily for another two months after that until her leg broke and the decision was made for us. It's not easy, but in my job i've seen both ends of the scale, some owners who will put their pet through ANYTHING to keep them alive and then others who (in my opinion) are more realistic about what is happening and don't want their beloved pet to suffer. It's tough but only you can decide what's going to happen next and you seem to be quite realistic about the whole thing even though it's an awful situation. Big hugs. x

Here on the farm i've not got much done AGAIN! At work this aft so got home, fed calves etc outside and then made supper. Been relaxing on sofa ever since and now ready for bed! Ha!

Dibuzz so sorry to hear about your dog but I think your making the right decision. Hugs.x

Today Iv done some washing and drying. Son took dd to Mcdonalds so other half and I had hot and sour soup from the chippy.

Going to see my new niece tomorrow and my uncle who has just got out of hospital. They live near to one another.
Iv made a baby hamper up which looks quiet good even if I was all fingers and thumbs putting the wrapping on.

Iv dyed my hair as it was more salt than pepper. Im sitting here with a shower cap on looking like aunt Sally.

Hugs to everyone and take care.xx
  • Morning Messies!

Dibuzz, I`m so sorry about the news from the vet. There`s no doubting you`ve made the right choice for her now, you`ve done all you could reasonably do, and dragging it out would just be unkind. She`s a happy dog - she doesn`t know what`s going on, and she has a loving home. ((HUGS))

FW - I fully share your views. My dear old Daftie-dog is blind and deaf with a very wobbly back-end, but while she still enjoys her food and manages a crooked tail-wag when we fuss her, I think she still has some quality of life. She doesn`t seem to have pain, so far, but if and when she does I wouldn`t want to let her suffer.

Snookey - `more salt than pepper`? Mine is like a badger at present! Well overdue for some Nice & Easy!! (stupid name, they should`ve called it Stinky & Messy!)

    Messy Status Report-
Drains got done last night. They didn`t come till 7.30, so we`d given up expecting them, but they did their thing quite fast, and one of them said I`d done right to call them before it got any worse and that it would have done. Phew!

    Kitchen -
Well, so far I have a clear sink... shame about the worktops, the floor, and the hob!! Bits of eggshell, coffee slops, trodden dog-biscuits, and grime...

LR - not too bad, except log-basket overflowing like a wobbly pyramid - bits of bark fallen off around it. (OH has brought in too many because he wanted to leave more space in the log-shelter, having another delivery this weekend.)
Computer corner getting a bit cluttered, but other flat surfaces clear.

Hall & stairs - bad! Stuff has been put there to either go upstairs or out into caravan of Doom, and not reached destinations. I will enlist DGD to help with this, her legs are younger than mine!

Upstairs - not going to talk about that...

Laundry - now that drains are ok I`ll get a load on, starting with DGD`s stuff.

Have as decent day all. x

    Hi all,

We have been internet-less since Tuesday, but back on now. I will catch up later so hugs to those who need them.

House is doing okay, just the washing and ironing backed up as usual.

After my marathon on Monday, I went on to steam clean the oven, dishwasher, cupboard fronts, kick boards and floor.

Today DH is cleaning the carpet in our bedroom, why we were ever stupid enough to have a cream carpet I will never know:o

Whilst he is doing that I am steam cleaning the main bathroom, floor to ceiling tiles so will take a while but will be so worth it.

Quite bright and sunny here today, but still cold so no washing going on the line, just a long walk with the dog later.

Hi all, accidentally stumbled across this thread - room for another one? I'm about 20 pages in (it is such a relief to know I'm not alone!) and think it's now time to stop reading and start doing!

The housework has caught up with us lately and we've really only being doing the bare minimum (kitchen/loo) and now it's all got a bit much. We both work stupidly long hours and work has been really stressful lately so when I finally do finish I feel like I "deserve" a break (isn't it funny how the mind makes excuses!). The trouble is I never feel properly relaxed when the house is like this so I'm not even enjoying my "relax" time.

Anyway, I am feeling inspired by this thread and I think it is time to take this enormous list of jobs (many more have been added since reading this!) out of my head and into action. I am hoping that by actually writing this it will actually happen. Hopefully I will be back later with a progress report. Wish me luck :D

Hi Becky_Boo and welcome to the company of Messies! :j

Lists are great, I like to look at mine and laugh at how I never get it done!

To be fair though, the list does help because in the school hols I can pick one job from the list and do it - sometimes I just pick a tiny job, and sometimes I pick a giant one depending on energy and circumstances. It gives you a great sense of achievement, even if you only tick one thing off.

Messyness is an ongoing thing for some of us, and others are good at getting everything straight at least for a time. Whatever your messy status, you're always welcome to share ups and downs with us!

I'm feeling a lot better now, still a little inflammation in my lungs but it is clearing. I think I expect to bounce back from a cold or flu in a matter of days but realistically it seems to take me much longer nowadays.

Lovely to see the sun today, even if the ground is utterly saturated. I squelch when I go in the garden! I must be feeling better because I'm starting to twitch about getting things ready for spring now - there's a bit of winter pruning and whatnot to do before February is out.

I've got a huge collection of flower seeds, mostly wildflowers, to play with this year. Can't wait! I've been watching the sparrows tucking into some peanuts I scattered around on the lawn (they won't eat them from a feeder) and my regular visiting squirrel has been down to bury a few in my plant pots.

Hope everyone is well and happy - have a great weekend all!

  • Hi all

Dibuzz, big hugs. Must be really awful for you but you have done everything that you could. Thinking about you.

FW and JPS, glad to hear you are both on the mend!

DS2 wanted to go and meet up with some friends in our nearest town 3 miles away. OH dropped him off at 1pm and will pick him up at 5 at the latest, but I have no car this afternoon so if he wants to come home earlier I cant get him. The friends he is with are nice lads and I know their parents so I know he will be OK. So why am I fretting about him???

Anyhow, today was a day for doing paperwork. Its 2.23pm and I havent really started yet so I need to get on. Have done loads of washing though as its such a lovely day.

Becky-boo welcome along. I can relate to the whole thing of not being able to relax when the house is a mess but not really having time to do anything about it!!

Right - drags self off to do friends tax return, I will not come back on here until its done ....

Erm... because you're his mum?! :rotfl:Comes with the job description :D

Have a slightly tidier house than normal at the moment. OH made a proper mess this morning while I was out (some manly industrial sewing task) so had to do a proper clean up when he was done. Which he carried out properly for once so LR is cleaner than usual... and he carried on with henry-ing all through the rest of the house.

I've been for a haircut this morning. I've been really irritated by my long hair so I took the decision that it was time for a chop. So inspired by another thread on hear, I've now got a 10-inch plait sitting on my kitchen worktop ready to post off to the Little Princess Trust (which they'll exchange for children's wigs for cancer sufferers). I think perhaps I should move it before I go and make dinner :rotfl:

This afternoon I cleaned the bathroom on the basis that I hopefully won't be blocking the drains with long hair for a while. Couldn't help but thinking that somewhere out there, there must be mum's who love to know that they are going to have to clean their daughter's hair out of the drain again in future. Kinda puts things in perspective.

Hugs to all those who have stuff going on at the moment and fingers crossed than things will take a turn for the better soon
