thats a very impressive list kayester. Can't remember when I last checked under the sofa  out of sight out of mind works for me :o the problem is I am running out of out of sight storage places so it is spilling over into normal living space

Haven't got as much done as I would have liked today as DS was supposed to be with his father but he was only there a couple of hours and I got a phone call to collect him, never mind it means I get more time with him :)

I am going to start to do a laundry load every weekday. I have no idea how many loads I need to do a week to keep on top of things as at present I just do them when the pile get high and do them one after the other, which causes a problem as nowhere to hang everything to dry. There are only two of us so with two wash loads taken up for bedding that leaves three per week, I am hoping that will be enough. I plan to load the machine at night and put on when I get up in the am hopefully early enough to take advantage of the E7 rate. Then iron the load that night this should make things easier as it will be little and often.

I am trying to work out how to organise the washing situation....may try this. perhaps only 3 days a wk as there is only me.

    Messy update from me

Indoor Xmas decs all down and in spare room ready to go in the loft
Outdoor ones to be done tomorrow, weather permitting

Lounge restored to normal, hoovered, dusted

Shopping done for the meal plan, veg prepared for tomorrow's roast

    Some of the ironing done

Now sat with a cuddle from DH and a glass of wine

Looking good :) especially the last bit, very good!
    Hi all

I have a little part time job that I do from home in addition to my "proper" part time job. I have reports that I have to send in to Head Office once a month but when I actually do the work is up to me. I really needed to get some of it done today but found it very hard to motivate myself!! 3 hours work felt like 3 days but at least I have achieved something.

Our office is a bombsite though. Most of its OHs paperwork which is just everywhere - its getting beyond a joke. I worked in the kitchen today because I couldnt face going in there. Sigh.

Not taken the decs down - must do that tomorrow. Otherwise things are reasonably OK. Dont laugh but I took the bleach and an old toothbrush in the shower with me this morning because the grout is starting to look really manky. It looks a lot cleaner but I think I have been smelling of bleach all day!!!

Off to put a load of washing over the airer and treat myself to a well earned glass of wine and a few post Xmas nibbles.

*can smell bleach* Kidding, Bet the grout looks good. And you did get stuff done. What is OH approach to paperwork - I ignore mine big time... And I don't want to take the decorations down!

I know what you mean re bombsite. My room is being tackled tomorrow, it looks awful. and the piggies need cleaning.

Got a busy day tomorrow. Ugh.
    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • Grrrr It won't multi quote everything! anyhow JPS I hope you are really feeling better and not just being brave!

Can't remember what I was going to say

    So messy status report

Conservatory - in process of shifting furniture to gain access to fish tanks and cupboards. have bought new throw for sofa and new rug for floor which I am desperate to put out for Mum.
    will finish tomorrow.

    Kitchen
mum's area! is good on the surface. cupboards need doing but that is for when she goes away.

    Living room
Good! Sadly the tree needs to come down and we didn't get it up till Christmas Eve. Looks SO pretty.

    Hall
Interesting. ok generally but am developing a deep hatred for recycling

    Bathroom/toilet
Good. always are tho, I read that book - Banish your clutter for ever and got as far in the plan as the bathroom

    Spare room

HAS CARPET. has been GUTTED this holiday, many bags of rubbish, one old cupboard binned as were much of it's contents.
all storage gone through. no longer looks like a crazy persons dumping ground. am very pleased.

    My room.

terrible. BUT I can sort of see the light a bit.

    xx

  • What is OH approach to paperwork - I ignore mine big time...

My OH writes things down on bits and paper or prints things out that he might need - then keeps them all scattered around the desks (we have 2). He never throws anything away.

He runs his own business and does voluntary work and I honestly dont know how he ever finds anything.

I dont like throwing out the bits of paper because I havent a clue whats important and what isnt. I bought a storage box and started sweeping all the bits of paper into it for him to sort later. That is now full.

I said that if he put up some shelves in our office we would get some lever arch files and properly sort out his paperwork. Still waiting for the shelves though, and he really isnt that bothered.

Because the office is a mess its turning into a dumping ground for things that dont have a home so I need to put a stop to this. Not sure how though.

Ah well, off to get a shower (without the bleach) and get dressed, going out later and could easily spend the morning just wasting time.

Really struggling here at the moment.
You'd think with 4 kids I might get just one birthday card but no, a quick "oh yeah, happy birthday" off one of them on seeing my other 3 cards and I'm still the one doing everything.
Can't even knit as the pattern I'm using is on my laptop which my daughter is using even though she has a pc in her room so I'm stuck with trying to browse on my iPod.
I'm just sick of being taken for granted and never being given a second thought unless they want something.

  • Hi Messies!

Buffy - your `crocheting fruit cake` bit made me splutter coffee all over my keyboard! (Actually, cup-cake motifs and stuff like that make me heave!) I`m impressed at your multi-quoting - I can`t do the quoty thing at all - bit of a Luddite, you know. Also very impressed you have got so much done there and not getting too bogged down with it all.

Dibuzz - thinking of you and your dog for tomorrow. ((HUGS))

JPS, I`m not convinced you should be going back to work now!
"WENT A BIT PNEUMONIA" is NOT accepted medical or scientific terminology, as I`m sure you know! As for the green stuff - it`s bad that it`s there, but good that you`re able to shift it. My worry is that you find you`re `probably ok` while you`re pottering at home, but there`s a big difference between that and getting yourself to work and getting around there doing your stuff and getting home again...etc. Even if you try to take it a bit easier at work. (As if that is possible!!)

Moments of Sanity - little & often, baby steps - and don`t beat yourself up when/if the list things don`t all get done!

Kayester - that`s quite a programme there, I sincerely hope it works for you. Part of my trouble with `Mon-Fri`lists like that is that (normally, am off sick after an op at the mo)) I work shifts not with any daily pattern, so even getting into a routine now it`d be thrown as soon as I`m back at work.
    I LOVE your `freestyle cleaning` bit though.
    I think it`s what I call `random blitzing`!
  • Oh, Dibuzz! (((BIRTHDAY HUGS)))
I do hope your day gets better. You feel taken for granted because you let them, I suspect it`s to keep the peace! I`m not keen on birthdays myself, I try to keep mine quiet, wouldn`t want a `fuss` or book the day off or anything, but I do feel hurt if someone close forgets!

    Firstly, Happy Birthday :j

I can sympathise with where your coming from totally. I have 2 teenage DD's who seem to think I am there 'beck and call' girl! Eldest had an interview recently at Cambridge University, didn't get in to the one she wanted to has been pooled, this will involve a further interview but she still hasn't actually asked me if I will take her, just seems to have 'assumed'!

I am good for a loan or taxi service, washer up, cleaner, laundry lady........very much my fault though as I am too soft on them. Hoping 2014 is the year I can become firmer with them without feeling a huge amount of guilt as I have realised they feel none no matter what they do or ask!

Dibuzz Happy Birthday - here's a virtual treat for you :bdaycake:

    Messy Update

Xmas decs now all in loft

    Downstairs hoovered

    Some more ironing done

Roast pork, potatoes, parsnips, carrots, sprouts, broccoli all demolished and washing up done

    Salads prepared for tomorrows lunch
  • At least with teens you have the hope that they`ll grow out of this stage....my DS is 40, so not holding my breath!
  • Gilly, well done there. Your meal sounds lovely, too. We just brunched earlier, and having the `proper dinner ` tonight.

    Messy Status Report-
    LR still ok.
Bathroom a bit trashed, DGD showered & shampoo`d but now nagging her to brush dags...then I`ll nag a bit about bathroom! (priorities!)
Kitchen...last night`s and today`s stuff cleaned up, but getting trashed again as I`m `on one` for tonight`s meal...
I`ve got a big lump of turkey breast defrosted, plus a bag of frozen chestnuts cooked. TWO items gone from freezer-YES!
Making chestnut stuffing, roast parsnips/carrots & spuds, wrapping turkey in some bacon that needs using up. With savoy cabbage, and bread sauce (milk needed using, as DS isn`t here making usual gallons of coffee)
All veg prepped & part steamed, just need to chop some parsley to go in the stuffing. As there`s just me & OH here tonight and there`s loads, I suspect we`ll be having the leftovers again tomorrow, but that`s ok - might give me a window for some `freestyling`!
Dry rugs/dogbeds etc put away in caravan of Doom, so upstairs doesn`t have the cave-like feel now...
