LR - quite clean & tidy after yesterdays rug-changing, despite DGD now in residence. (DS is still away at his GF`s, that helps!)
Upstairs - cluttered with rugs etc hanging up in doorways (nearly dry enough to put away in caravan tomorrow.) Bathroom still ok too.
Kitchen - sink clear - DGD is getting very good at clearing up after her snacks etc...but will get trashed later, as I`m doing stuffed hearts for OH and DGD is doing pizza-from-scratch for her & me.0 -
I agree with you Emm, I love blogs but I like to hear what other people are doing, not be told by them how I should do things. There are a lot of very popular frugal living blogs doing this as well as organisation ones. Ooooh, feels good to get that off my chest!0

thats a very impressive list kayester. Can't remember when I last checked under the sofa  out of sight out of mind works for me
the problem is I am running out of out of sight storage places so it is spilling over into normal living space
Haven't got as much done as I would have liked today as DS was supposed to be with his father but he was only there a couple of hours and I got a phone call to collect him, never mind it means I get more time with him
I am going to start to do a laundry load every weekday. I have no idea how many loads I need to do a week to keep on top of things as at present I just do them when the pile get high and do them one after the other, which causes a problem as nowhere to hang everything to dry. There are only two of us so with two wash loads taken up for bedding that leaves three per week, I am hoping that will be enough. I plan to load the machine at night and put on when I get up in the am hopefully early enough to take advantage of the E7 rate. Then iron the load that night this should make things easier as it will be little and often.0 -
I read this thread often but don't tend to post, however, I just wanted to say a very big thank you for all the wonderful advice you give on here. I have depression and an illness which leaves me feeling exhausted after doing very little but with the advice you give on here I have been able to do the following:
Hoover the whole house (excluding 2 teenagers rooms as I refuse to do them)
Taken all my bears that DH buys me every year and dusted them
Prepared the veg for dinner tomorrow's roast
Spent 10 minutes in the garage tidying up as it always seems to be a mess, I can see the difference already!
Onions chopped for this evenings meal, just having 5 minutes before I start cooking tea.
Tomorrow could be a bad day but if I feel ok I will try and pop out to the garage again and spend another 10/15 minutes tidying up and putting things in the right place.
Little and often really seems to help as normally I would try and do everything one job after the other and have failed after only 1 job, today it have allowed myself breaks I between the jobs and I can't believe how much I have achieved :j0 -
Messy update from me
Indoor Xmas decs all down and in spare room ready to go in the loft
Outdoor ones to be done tomorrow, weather permitting
Lounge restored to normal, hoovered, dusted
Shopping done for the meal plan, veg prepared for tomorrow's roast
Some of the ironing done
Now sat with a cuddle from DH and a glass of wine0 -
Hi all
I have a little part time job that I do from home in addition to my "proper" part time job. I have reports that I have to send in to Head Office once a month but when I actually do the work is up to me. I really needed to get some of it done today but found it very hard to motivate myself!! 3 hours work felt like 3 days but at least I have achieved something.
Our office is a bombsite though. Most of its OHs paperwork which is just everywhere - its getting beyond a joke. I worked in the kitchen today because I couldnt face going in there. Sigh.
Not taken the decs down - must do that tomorrow. Otherwise things are reasonably OK. Dont laugh but I took the bleach and an old toothbrush in the shower with me this morning because the grout is starting to look really manky. It looks a lot cleaner but I think I have been smelling of bleach all day!!!
Off to put a load of washing over the airer and treat myself to a well earned glass of wine and a few post Xmas nibbles.0 -
Hi messies, thank you for the good wishes you lovely lot.
Welcome TheLittleStranger and all new posters, and welcome back to some old friends and lurker-friends tooI do love this thread for keeping us in touch.
I'm recovering slowly - I've had an x ray now and will get the results next week. Everything points to a bacterial chest infection which went a bit pneumonia - I'm still seeing some lovely green stuff, about which I will not bore anyone further!
I'm probably well enough to go to work on Monday, and will give it a go. If I'm not up to it I'll come home.
I've spent the last few days playing with last year's Christmas present (or was it the year before?!) - my sewing machine. I'm really getting the hang of it now, and finished the cushion covers for my sofa and armchair with matching scatter cushions. Who needs the sales for a new look in the living room?
I really want to make a nice patchwork denim throw now for my bed, I think I'll make that my next project. I wish I had energy during term time for these projects but I can barely keep up with essential stuff.
I took down the tree and decorations today and did my work clothes washing - I'll have a quick tidy round tomorrow and do some more washing, and that's me pretty much ready for work again.
Keep well everyone - I'm going to settle down with dvds and some rag rug crochet now I think. Love to all xxI believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Evening Messies,
or rather night
Emm - I love your posts, and am going to start doing a messy status report. I also feel the same way about blogs....shiny pains in the butt lemon juicing their bras and crocheting a fruit cake.......drive me nutsEmm-in-a-pickle wrote: »Messy Status Report -

I love this! and it has made me try and think up my own list, although the freestyle cleaning did make me laugh- I imagine this involves rap music and hip hop dancing........moments_of_sanity wrote: »I read this thread often but don't tend to post, however, I just wanted to say a very big thank you for all the wonderful advice you give on here. Am so pleased to read this - in terms of your successes, not that you have depression etc. obviously, I have depression too, was diagnosed last February and it made me realise ever such a lot. About friends, family, me, weird. and very difficult some days. Been a horrible year in many ways. I haven't noticed things when I should and I haven't been around much in real life or on here. Half the time it has been just about getting through the day.
Any way I did multi quote more but they seem to have disappeared! so computer allowing I might be back with another mammoth post!

Depression is certainly a thief of time, fun, every day simple pleasures........some days it's all I can do to get out of bed and on a really bad day I can be counting the hours until I can get back in, though why I don't know as I never sleep very well!
I have managed to cook tea this evening AND done all the washing up and run the dishwasher which is now empty :j
I got 2 hours sleep last night and was up at 4.45am this morning, I thought this might have worn me out but it seems to have hyped up my brain (or is that the head spinning, thoughts racing at 100 miles an hour, fliting from thought to thought that depression causes, difficult to know)? So, whilst it all quiet here I shall make a list of tomorrow's tasks0
