My home is a mess
Comments
-
I tackled the spare room.
2 bags of recycling
3 bags of rubbish
Loads of plastic boxes emptied and organised.
House is in chaos but have finally sat down to a cup of tea and some cheese and biscuits. My room is especially a mess. This isn't great but highly symbolic of how I have spent this year particularly. We found some pictures today and the house and garden did once look lovely and will do again.
Rome was NOT built in a day.
However this year has been very tough all round, lots of personal realisations, some health scares, some heartache. House has been bottom of the list really.
Only an hour and ten minutes left of this year!
Lots of love to you all and may 2014 be marvellous for you all

As one of the MIA, just popping in to say hi and happy new year. My New Year's Resolution is not to isolate myself when I'm feeling tired and down.
A Happy and Just Tidy Enough New Year to you all xxximport this0 -
Happy New Year messies!
Well, that mild cold turned into bacterial pneumonia, and I was a good girl, I did look after the cold, honest! I seem to be very susceptible to chest infections now. Shortly after posting on Boxing Day, I started with freezing chills and aches, and huddled myself under an igloo of fleece blankets with several hot water bottles and the heating on full
My lungs filled up frighteningly fast, maybe because of having asthma as well, so I asked see a Dr as an urgent case. I'm now on antibiotics and steroids but I am having a little glass of sherry to bring in the New Year, and sod the consequences! I am waiting for the hosp. to contact me with an x-ray appointment but not expecting one before we go back to school, which means asking for more time off, which I hate doing.
Buffy, the stomach ulcers are apparently caused by a bacterium called H Pylori - until fairly recently it wasn't known about but after it was discovered as the cause of ulcers, they are much more treatable. The trouble was, because I'm of the larger persuasion, I assumed that my lack of energy and indigestion/reflux were due to being a fat !!!!!!! :rotfl: and I was eating indigestion tablets like smarties. It sort of built up slowly so I thought it was "normal" for me.
Congratulations Snookey, and thanks for posting Sonastin, I know how hard it can be to interact when in shut-down mode.
Well done to all those who have de-messied! I've kept the bedroom, living room and kitchen tidy, but made a bit of a mess in my living room today as I've had a good rummage around in my fabric stash and done a little creating - I'm making some cushion covers and a footstool cover. Don't worry, I'm taking it very easy, I promise!
Once more a very happy New Year to all us messies, I'm wishing everyone good health and great happiness!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

One MIA messy reporting in...
I am pleased to say that I tackled both boy's rooms two days ago and collected three bags of recycling and one black bag of rubbish - why my DS#1 needs to keep expired bus tickets, shoe boxes, broken toys, and cardboard packing boxes I have no idea, but the bin men took all the recycling away on Monday so I'm happy. however there is STILL no sign of the missing 14 pairs of socks out of the 20 pairs he started with in September... where do they go? as they are not in the odd socks bin. I think they are hiding somewhere in DS#1's room.
our artifical tree broke so it was taken down over last weekend, luckily HWTHMBO has fixed it so that's one less thing to worry about for next year.
the remainder of the house is cluttered but I have decided to ask at work (where my contract was renewed for another 6 months) if I can not work Wednesdays so I have a day off for decluttering/shopping etc.
So my new year's resolutions are:
I want to get the conservatory and shed decluttered and cleared by April...
I would like to finish the bathroom - it only needs a piece of nice lino down and that's it but I am too embarrassed to have someone in to fit it.
I would like to make a start on the front room as this is the first room that you see when you come into our house and right now it's undecorated and the carpet is yuk.
We need to get the 'blown' double glazing (some have condensaton between the two panes of glass) fixed and the heating sorted out (none of the rads work upstairs right now)
I think that's quite enough for now.
Happy New Year Messies - here's to a productive and prosperous 2014.just in case you need to know:

Happy New Year!
We've had a mini sort out today. DH did the bins and recycling, I took down some decorations, chucked away a pair of shoes, put some books and games into the charity bag, recycled dozens of leaflets and about 40 magazines. I tidied the sideboard and pantry, swept the floors, tidied the airing cupboard, changed the sheets, dusted the living room and did a load of laundry. Feel loads better now!0 -
Hi Messies!
Laurel & Fannyadams, it`s really lovely to hear from you both again, ((HUGS)) to you, and
Bearcub - if you`re reading or anyone who`s still in touch with you - hope all is well with you & yours.x
JPS, again Blessing-counting that you got diagnosed (with the H.Pylori AND the chest!) and got treatment started.I maybe shouldn`t say this, but if your anti-b doesn`t start with an `M` you should be ok with alcohol in moderation. As for having to take time off work, your health HAS to come first.
Otherwise you could end up being off work a lot longer!
Well done you folks who`ve de-messified, and good luck with all the plans to do more...steady on, and don`t get put off when you stall.
I`ve done very little, mainly because there`s just me & OH here and nowhere getting messed up! I`ve done another WM load because the heating went on early, and the `basics`, and that`s it!
Have a nice evening all.x0 -
Didn't realise I'd missed so many posts
I didn't stay up last night, I was in bed at 10.30 and asleep by 11, woke up a few times but managed to stay in bed till 9.30 which is amazing for me, I'm often up at 3 am for the day.
I've not got much done over the last couple of days, I've not managed to fill the new freezer yet but have got some stuff in there now, I will try to go out tomorrow to do that but leaving the house isn't always easy.
I've made an appointment for Friday at the vet's and will ask what they think is the best option.
If I'd made a resolution it would have been to think more positively but I'd have failed already so I'm glad I didn't
There a lovely gammon smell coming from the kitchen so that's one good thing.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Cheers Emm, I'm very lightweight when it comes to alcohol (sadly that's the only lightweight thing about me
) so I literally only had an eggcupful. It was plenty, and I had a really good night's sleep so I am counting that as medicinal! My heating went on early too, and I'm just pottering with fabric as much as I fancy.
Laurel, so glad to see you too! I missed your post earlier, I'm really sorry.
I feel a little weaker today but still hoping for a good (and fast) recovery as I'm still able to potter about and not just sit gasping for breath like in the summer.
I've finished the cushion covers for the sofa and if I say so myself they don't look too bad
Alec, I'm debating about taking decs down too... I still feel quite nested in holidayness so I think I might wait till Saturday. Well done on all that demessying! Changing the bed is the one single thing I do when I need to feel better, no matter how bad everything else is.
Dibuzz, hope the vet's consultation goes well. I find thinking positively is more usually something that happens to me, not something I can force. Sometimes I find if I think through the worst case scenarios, then I can hope for the best knowing that I am prepared for the worst, if you see what I mean. I wish with all my heart the best for you.
I have brisket in the slow cooker tonight, it's smelling verrrrrry good.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.
