Hi everyone. My baby niece was born at 11.36 last night. Just in time to share a birthday with my daughter.
My daughter is having her birthday party downstairs as we speak. Adults are banned, lol.
My washing machine got fixed on the 27th used 28th and broke again. Iv washing everywhere you look. Im hoping if I close my eyes it will all be gone when I open them. No still there.
Take care everyone.x0 -
Congratulations snookey and happy birthday to your daughter.
Bad news about the washing machine though, I'd be lost without mine.
I've just replaced the living room light bulb with a daylight bulb and can't decide if I like it or not.
Knitting is easier but it is really bright.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Morning Messies!
Snookey, congratulations on your new niece, and hope your DD`s party went well. As for the WM, what a pile of carp!!
I suggest you get e-mailing them again, (if you haven`t already!) and let the bosses know how much extra work/time/ inconvenience you`ve had, AND how much you`ve had to spend using launderette (inc petrol to get there).
Dibuzz, have fun with your new freezer! I have been saying for ages that I MUST do something about mine - as soon as I take stuff out and create a little space I fill it up again, and this really must stop. There`s the 2 smallish chest freezers and the drawer freezer in the kitchen, but they`re all too full to organize properly.Yet I still can`t stop myself buying more if I see a YS sticker - it`s a hoarding thing, especially meat.
Now I`m off work again for a while, I`m going to try to be really strict with myself, use up frozen stuff and restrict shopping to only fresh stuff that we need. I am, honest. No More YS....
Tonight we`re having rolled herby-roasted belly pork (YS!) that I cooked last night while oven was on for roasties, and star-anise carrots (Tom Kerridge) that smelled lovely cooking (You cook ahead then warm them up), and we still have a good lump of the applejuice ham left so not defrosting anything today.
DS is going away later today, and will probably want a lift to station to catch train by the skin of his teeth after a flurry of being `nearly ready`for a couple of hours.
Then, I will do something...or not.0 -
Hi messies!
What a dull and dreary day it is herenot good for my SAD!! But, i've made myself get sorted this morning. Just been to the shop for bread etc and got some half price beef, will pop that into slow cooker for tomorrows lunch i think! Going to visit my friend this morning in her new home, we helped her to move on the 28th and the kids can't wait to have a look at her new place. Will make a trifle for tomorrow this aft i think, and maybe a pizza for the supper. We're not doing anything for NYE, will probably be in bed by 10pm! Haha!!
Has anybody made any New Year resolutions??? Mine is to be more organised (!!!!) and to be a bit more positive about things!!
Jxx
Ps. Can i just say thanks to you all, it's really nice when i post on here and you all reply with helpful and kind advice! xxIt's a farmers life for me......:j0 -
Hi everyone,
Wanting to wish you all a happy new year.
I'm at the charity shop this afternoon, didn't think I'd be "working" on Christmas Eve and NYE but there you go! It's only for a couple of hours and if the weather stays as it is I doubt there will be much action.
Laundry was starting to take over the house so I've done a couple of loads today, that's about it. DH has done the washing up and is going to sort the rubbish and recycling. That's about it.
New resolution is to do stuff. I can't face another post-Christmas conversation about wishing I was fitter, tidier, richer... I know I have plenty of time during the day to do plenty so I'm going to do just that.0 -
Hi all, happy new year to everyone. I don't post much (twice I think!) but often read. Emm, glad you're doing well. You're meals always sound amazing. Picked up some yellow stickered (YS?) stuff today myself during a brief wander into town. Can't beat it. Well, we are having the lovely in laws (that sounds sarcastic but they are!) over tonight and the house has never been cleaner. I even hovered under the sofas! It's all downhill when I'm back to work Thursday but nice to have a brief period when it's tidy!0

Hi all - just popping in to wish everyone a happy new year. Been lurking all christmas but not posted as I've not been feeling very sociable - the requisite "real world" festivities have taken all the chattiness out of me!
Emm - glad to hear the op went well & hopefully the results in Jan will be the news you want to hear.
Managed to sort of stay on top of the messiness over the last few days so we'll be starting 2014 in not-too-bad shape. Not as clean and tidy as I'd hoped for but OH hasn't been working in the garage today (he's got man-flu, bless him) so I haven't had the motivation to do the stuff I planned to do today. Might do a bit this evening as the NYE TV programming is usually pretty depressing!
Might also do some more tomorrow as the weather forecast ain't looking too great. We'd planned to go for a walk to a local landmark on top of the hill. Its visible from everywhere but we've never been because we keep promising to walk there and agreed this New Years Day was going to be the time. But as the forecast is for blowing dogs off chains again and OH is suffering, it doesn't seem like the right thing to do. Weather for this christmas has been really rubbish for leaving the house!0 -
Hi
I know its a bit early but Happy New Year all! I am with you FW, need to be more positive, more organised and somehow less stressed next year. Not sure how but still its a good intention!
We are off to see family later then having the parents around tomorrow. I am not back at work until Monday which is nice but it doesnt seem to have been very restful for the last few days. Then again I have managed to get some laundry done and some tidying up so the house looks OK(ish).
I agree the weather has been rubbish. DS2 got a basketball hoop on a stand and it has been laid down for most of the time because its been so windy!
Well have fun whatever you are doing tonight (even if its a quiet night in front of the telly). Off to feed the family now.0 -
I ditto the advice of doing a little every day. After years of depression and struggling to keep the house tidy and clean I learned that even just 5 minutes a day can make a difference, both to how I feel and to how the house looks.
'Never underestimate the inevitability of gradualness.'
baby steps
I agree and do not beat yourself up over the slow pace, that only makes you more depressed. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -
Good Evening....
I`m posting now because I didn`t earlier & I won`t later - there`s just me & OH here, & he`s gone for a `power nap` so we can see the new year in...we sort of feel we should make the effort to stay up late if only once a year!
I want to say Happy New Year to EVERYONE who posts and reads here. And also to wish all the best to all long MIA Messies who no longer post, in case they read this. I`ve found folks on this thread SO helpful - you are all part of my `counting my Blessings` thoughts.
That`s not the wine talking, btw, I`ve had a few but pacing myself nicely!
Thoughts for 2014? Plenty.
Positive, YES.
Organised....come off it, I`m enough of a realist to know I`ll blow any resolutions in the first week!! All I`m committing to is I will try to eat through freezer contents, and take Littly-dog for more walkies/ toy-throwing & fetching games cos I note she`s getting plump...dear old Daftie-dog can`t come as she`s having to be helped in & out over the back doorstep now - but this time last year we didn`t think she`d make it to Spring, and she STILL enjoys her food and the catfood when she can steal it!
Happy New Year All. x0
