Hello messies, sorry I have been MIA for so long. Emm, not sure if you've said what your op is about (I haven't had a chance to read back properly and have missed so much) but whatever it is, I am thinking of you and hope it goes perfectly and that you'll be back home and comfortable on Tuesday.

We broke up on Friday and I've done a few jobs around the house, which is still a glorious mess of course, but I have clean sheets on the bed and a fairly tidy living room!

My energy levels are on the increase now, finally. Recently I was prescribed iron tablets, along with treatment for bleeding stomach ulcers  They are definitely making a difference - I'm finding that I now actually feel like doing things rather than just wanting to sleep all the time.

Hope everyone is set for a merry (even if it is messy!) Christmas and love to all.

Yorkshirelass, I felt like that last year - I'm a little more upbeat this year but totally understand how you're feeling. Just do whatever feels right, there aren't any rules - ignore the hype!

Thinking of you Emm, hope you are doing well.

Thanks to better energy levels I am getting some jobs done - I cleaned out the pantry cupboard today, and was very pleased to find almost nothing out of date. I've rotated the stuff that needs using first to the front and now don't have an avalanche every time I open the door!

Tomorrow is main bedroom cleaning day, it should only take an hour or two. Depending on energy I may also have a go at the cupboard of doom.

Hope Emm's op has gone well and she's recuperating now. I'm assuming she won't have the 'puter on the ward so will only get to read this when she's back home but thoughts are definitely with her at this time.

YL - don't worry about not being in the mood for it. Christmas comes around every year. If you give one a miss, you can always go for it again next year! I'm still not really feeling it but I'm back in an organised kinda frame of mind now so its all starting to come together.

I'm hoping that I'll be filled with the christmas spirit tomorrow... for the first time in my life, I'm getting a real christmas tree! Shame I've got to dismantle the artificial one we put up yesterday. I've always wanted a real one but everyone always talks me out of it. OH promised me I could have one, once, in our first christmas when [STRIKE]we get our first house together[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]we have moved into the proper lounge[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]we're having the family over[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]downstairs is properly finished[/STRIKE] the house is finished and we're married. (as you can see, he's been talking me out of it too!) This is our first year in the proper lounge and my mum and gran are coming over. But the main reason he's finally said yes is because B&Q were selling off douglas firs for £1 :TI am stupidly excited at having a real tree to play with. Ask me again in a week if I'm impressed with the needles all over the floor :rotfl:

On the demessying front, managed to defrost and clean the freezer and fridge on Saturday. Got a load of laundry mostly dried on the line Saturday afternoon too so only 1 load needing drying indoors. Yesterday was baking day, today was visiting day and tomorrow is cleaning day. Or perhaps procrastinating day! Might do a bit of tidying around the place if I'm feeling up to it.

    I hope Emm is ok.

I've managed to get a bit done today, my mum came round and cleaned the bathroom so I did the kitchen. Had a good clear out of the cupboards and found a few things with a best before date in 2012 :o

There's still lots to do but ploughing through slowly, I'm another one who can't be bothered with it all this year, everything seems pointless.
Probably doesn't help that I've had a headache and earache all day and have been up since 2am, plus feeling bad that I haven't been able to buy the kids much.

Hoping to get a bit more done tomorrow, especially need to hoover but going to have an early night and hopefully get more than a couple of hours.

  • Hi everyone!

Emm - hope the op went well and you are home for xmas, big hugs x

I haven't been on here for a few days, i'm feeling a bit crap at mo! Got xmas all sorted, kids finished school, presents/cards deliverred etc then had a total meltdown at the weekend!! I knew i was feeling a bit low but the weekend was just awful. Couldn't get an appointment at docs but he did do a phone consult, we have this fab german doc at our practice and he's diagnosed me with SAD due to my history of feeling like this every christmas and usually needing treatment. So, back on the tablets, they won't kick in for a couple of weeks but at least i'm getting sorted! Just have to get through tomorrow with my parents and then i'll be well on the way to feeling better i hope! ha!

Tidied the living room and kitchen yesterday with my youngest daughter, bless her she's been great whilst i've not been myself. Bathroom to do today then sort the veg for tomorrow, midnight mass at 10pm (our vicar is in charge of several churches so we all get a turn at varying times!) then Santa will come!!

Hope everyone is ok, Merry christmas to you all!!

    It's a farmers life for me......:j
  • Glad to her you have a good GP and you know you'll be feeling better soon J.

dibuzz, hope you're feeling better today, I've had earache for a couple of days, it really drains the good mood.

sonastin, enjoy your real tree! We have hardly had any needle drop, no more than the bits of the artificial tree that drop off. I just had a look and we have about 10 needles on the floor at the minute and they're mainly because White Bunny keeps playing with one of the branches.

Best wishes to everyone, take care.

I always feel worse in winter J hope you feel better soon.

Thanks Alec, still not feeling too good but better than yesterday.

I'm glad I let youngest go and get a tree, it looks lovely and brightens the room up a bit.
