Hi everyone!
Emm - Hug from me to you!
The wind and rain here right now are terrible!!! Just back from tennis, thought the sports hall roof was going to blow off!
Not much tidying getting done here at the mo, xmas prep is well underway though! Made some fudge yesterday and started sorting the hamper gifts. Eldest at tennis comp tomorrow in the city where my aunt lives so i'm doing a christmas visit on way home, i can leave gifts for various family members at her house so that's a few done in one go! ha!
On the farm we've got the dreaded TB TEST on Tues & Fri so i won't be able to settle at all this week, i've already been a bit shouty with the kids today and had to apologise and explain why i'm not very happy at the moment. We get the results on friday so fingers crossed we will remain TB free. If not, we're going to have a miserable christmas!
JxIt's a farmers life for me......:j0 -
Hi Messies!
FW, what a time to be having the TB tests - but there isn`t a `best` time, is there? I do hope your beasts are all clear, will keep thinking of you. ((HUGS)) We always watch Countryfile, and this crops up a lot. You can call me dim, but I have never understood WHY we have TB vaccines for humans, and even for badgers, but STILL not for cattle! And they`re saying it could take up to another decade to come up with one. It doesn`t make sense to me at all.
Chez-Emm....
Well, the chicken stew/soupy thing got all eaten up on Friday after OH`s do, was quite enough so we kept the pork fillet pie thing for last night. It looked beautiful when cut, & was YUM! And fairly simple & cheap (YS pork fillet was £2.58 in Morrisons) too, so I`ll be making that again.
I used a sheet of ready-made puff pastry, and slit open the pork, stuffed with cheesy thing (beaten egg, a handful of grated cheddar, chopped parlesy & bit of thyme, teaspoon of mustard scraped from `empty` jar - kept a smidgeon of beaten egg back to brush patry) Put the cheesy mix in the cut pork, wrap 3 slices of parma ham round to hold it together a bit then wrap puff pastry round it & seal, egg-brush, half an hour on gas 6. Very simples. The only not so MSE bit was the parma ham, but I got a Co-op Antipasto Selection (£3) There were only 3 slices of parma ham, which is all I wanted for this recipe, but there`s also another 17 slices of other fancy thin salamis that will get eaten!
Tonight we`re having curry, and I`ll do a roast (pork shoulder) tomorrow so we can have leftovers Tuesday night then I won`t have to cook after work. Sorted.
Later on I`m going to deliver stuff to DD`s Godfather & family, pressie for their little boy & a couple of cards to pass on. I`m only doing cards for folks I won`t see this year.

Not too bad, tidied parts have stayed clear, laundry still at the not-enough-for-WM-load stage, and kitchen floor still looks moderately clean, though there are crunchy bits but they are only trodden dog biscuits, so hoping the dogs find them when they are mooching around today.
Have a nice Sunday all. x0 -
Your cooking sounds divine as usual Emm.
Good look YS with the TB check.
TB my nan died of it when my mum was six she was only 42. A really nasty illness .
Well today Im going to defrost a freezer, clean out the fridge, mop the floors and see what other chores I can get done today.
Washed some washing by hand yesterday and ended up with blisters . I take my hat off to those women who did this before washing machines.
Pork in the oven for tea.
Take care everyone.0 -
Well things are starting to get back to normal around here. Friday I arrived home to find OH had vacuumed the living room - including moving all the furniture apparently (I'll take his word on that!).
I had a bit of a tidy up in the kitchen yesterday then went and helped OH on the boat for the rest of the day. Didn't get a lot done round the house but got some useful progress on the boat.
This morning I put the oven on to its self-cleaning setting & then went out to my nieces dance-recital. Got home to find OH had not only cleaned out the residue but also cleaned the oven shelves (apparently they are silver - who knew?!) and the oven thermometer that had reached the point of being barely legible. And on top of that, he's cleaned on top of the wall cupboards and the pantry cupboard and the plate rack.
So in return, I've cleaned the bathroom. To the point where my fingernails hurt from squishing the cloth into all the teeniest nooks and crannies. And I managed to not spoil his beautifully clean oven because the chicked I was going to roast hadn't quite defrosted. So we had a sneaky takeaway for dinner and the chook can go in the slow cooker tomorrow.
I've even managed to get a bit of paperwork out of the way this evening. Didn't quite manage all of it - the bit that needs concentration has been procrastinated into the "I'll look at it tomorrow at work" file. But at least the easy bit can be ticked off so the list looks less daunting!0 -
Wow sonastin I feel tired just reading that. It's always easier when someone else is helping isn't it?
I've fallen behind this week, been feeling really down and upset but I need to get back in gear and sort things out.
Youngest's girlfriend came round yesterday and helped him clean his room, I've been nagging him for months about it but she got him going and they've done a lot. I'm hoping to get him to fnish it today or at least do some more.
He also mentioned the Christmas decorations in the loft so I'm going to blitz this room and let him get them down later, all we've got so far are some crocheted snowmen and minions wearing Christmas hats but I've enjoyed making them. We threw the trees out last year (2 smallish light up ones that had seen better days) and I was going to buy a new one or get a real one this year but haven't got round to it.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Morning,
DH helped me loads around the house this weekend. He did all the henrying, a job I do not like. The kitchen an dining are look great, the front bedroom is ok other than the big pile of gifts on the bed, the other bedrooms are not far from done, it's only the living room that looks a bit dodgy and that's just the usual bunny mess.
It's not deep cleaned but it looks ok and that's enough for me at the minute.0 -
Well I did the fridge and freezer. Dog had some of the food that had fallen out of the packs. A mix of fishcakes and steak pie ,yum.
Kitchen was spotless by the time I finished but it took me ages.
Got son to mop the rest of downstairs.
I used lemon essential oils in the water for cleaning the floors. Its fantastic and only needs a few drops. Also have lavender and orange. Great for air freshener and putting on radiators or light bulbs.
Iv just been to Asda for a few presents. Just odd bits to get now and Im done.
Dibuzz Its nice to see your getting some help. It makes things so much easier . I find that Im more motivated if people pitch in.
Bought a massive piece of pork for xmas day although it should do for Boxing day too. There are eight of us so not too many.
Im having potatoes delivered so only the veg to get . Boxing day will just be a buffet tea. Nobody apart from my son are big eaters so Im not going overboard.
My brothers partner is being induced on xmas eve unless she goes before so could be looking at a xmas day baby. Cant wait.0 -
Hi Messies!
Sonastin, sounds like you`re getting there! Sharing the chores does help.
Alec E , I love henrying - occasionally!
Snookey, well done - my freezers are still in a muddled packed state despite my good intentions. I thought I picked odd times, but your poor SIL!!!
Dibuzz, your sons GF sounds a real treasure, mucking in like that. And I LOVE the sound of your little Xmas minions. I have to thank you, beause this inspired me for a pressie for eldest DGD - I`ve ordered her a minion t shirt, she`s minion mad!
Well, I`m off to work in a bit - I`ll go to the ward first, dump my stuff, and then nip off for this pre-op assessment thingy then finish the shift. Feels a bit unreal. I`m fine as long as folks don`t start being uber-nice to me.
Have a nice day all. x0 -

Emm I didn't really know what minions were but I'd got bored of the snowmen and spotted a keyring on the hook so decided to try it, just making it up as I went. As soon as son saw it he said it needed a Christmas hat so I had to do that and when I showed him he informed me the hat needed a pompom. At least I've finally used my pompom maker now, so much easier than 2 cardboard circles
I hadnt realised the 2 eyed one is wearing goggles so have joined them up since.
All this because I thought chocolate oranges were boring and wanted to brighten them up a bit :rotfl:14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140
