Morning Messies!
Sonastin, it`s good to hear from you again, and no wonder you`re feeling so jaded! In my last job I did used to join in all the social stuff but now I don`t - since I`ve been on this ward I haven`t gone on ward nights out at all, much as I enjoy the company of colleagues, simply because I don`t really like being out late and can`t keep up with the youngsters (though some of my older colleagues do!) and I`ve not missed it at all. In a job where we can`t all go because someone has to be on-shift, I suppose I have come in quite useful!! I`m not a crackers & paper hat fan either, though I do wear festive antlers at work on `the day` .
There`s different kinds of pre-Christmas `busy`, some of it can be hectic but still enjoyable (like kids events) but sometimes it`s just a hectic grind! I hope your routine and your equilibrium is soon restored. ((HUGS)) anyway.
FW, you sound hectic busy there, but it sounds like you are well on top of things except the ironing, which isn`t a feature I would worry about!
Dibuzz, ((HUGS)), I hope you feel better today. Well done with all that washing, and the wool sorting. It must be hard trying to plan around your kids when things are so vague, but they aren`t little now, and at least if they are at their dad`s or doing sports they aren`t out `getting up to no good` as many parents worry about. I admire your patience.
Alec E, I know you`re right about the trees being usefully recycled, but I do have a nice little fake one so I`ll stick with that. Flowers? Had quite enough before we stopped having loads on the ward - someone had to check all those vases, change/refill the water, when we`re all trying to prioritise keeping patients fed & watered! They were finally banned because of Infection Control issues, though they do allow a few potted plants! Some folks have really pretty little fake flowers, but I wouldn`t have those at home even though some look quite realistic.
Well, today it`s Deep Clean LR day.
I`m quite up for it, but the gas meter check tomorrow is added motivation! I Henried hall & stairs yesterday, and he has a new bag, so nothing holding us back.... I`ve tidied kitchen, taken dogs out, and put a WM load on this morning,
beef dinner again tonight, so I can have a clear run this afternoon at getting LR done thoroughly.
Have a nice afternoon all. x0 -
I'm starting to get back on top of things with the old-faithful baby-steps approach. Going to go to the SM on my way home tonight to stock up. Been putting it off for ages because I was put off by the concept of meal planning and writing a proper shopping list. So rather than be caught in the viscious circle of not knowing what to eat to put on a meal plan so not knowing what we need to buy so not going to the shop so not having anything in so not knowing what to eat... I'm just going to go to a!di, pick up the stuff I know I need and whatever else strikes me as a good idea and hope from there that I've got enough to keep us fed until the weekend! It might not fit the MSE / OS mantra but its got to be better than having nothing for dinner!
kitchen worktops were tidied properly last night which is a step in the right direction towards being able to cook and eat properly too. I'm gonna keep taking small steps of an evening so that by weekend I'm ready to tackle the bigger jobs that need doing to get the house back on track. OH is threatening to clean the plate rack and other stuff on top of the pantry cupboard (that I can't reach) at the weekend so kitchen might even get a proper deep clean. Having said that, he said he'd tackle up there last time i did a deep clean on everything else in the kitchen and somehow it never happened. Just like the valeting of my car that he was going to do for my birthday in September. I might use the time off between xmas and new year to take my car to one of those mini-valeting places to put him to shame! Again, not so OS or MSE but sometimes the only way to get the lifestyle you want is to throw money at it. Its been a frugal year so I'm lucky to be able to afford a little bit of frivolity to get me through to the end of the year.0 -
That`s the way, Sonastin! I`m baby-stepping LR - moving everything out of one quarter at a time, dust what ain`t movable, Henry & mop. Put stuff back/clean rugs down etc when floor dries, then tackle next patch. Have to do it this way as it`s too cold to put dogs out for the duration.... nearly finished now, just waiting for last quarter to dry and taking a break. Didn`t take as long as expected, really, but I`m still at it cos of washing dog beds & rugs.
I have upset many spiders...gas meter corner was not a place for arachnophobics!
Re meal-planning, I prefer to have a rough plan that I can swop around if I find a YS meat bargain or unexpected veg. I stick to plans & find them helpful if I`ve got a marathon shift pattern, but otherwise I quite like to cook on a whim and experiment. Planning should serve us, not the other way round!
WM has stopped, time to feed it another rug!0 -
Things are more festive now at Chez McC29, but a bit messier too with all the decoration storage bags and boxes to relocate back upstairs.
At least I have the office to store them in temporarily. Years ago I had to put them back in the attic as there was simply nowhere else to store them until Twelfth Night.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... Turmeric use. Active agent is curcumin. Powerful antioxidant, taken by a good friend with cancer, I take it for osteoarthritis. Many other uses, very few contra-indications.
Best advice I've seen: Mix 3 parts turmeric and 1 part ground black pepper (to aid turmeric absorption) to a paste with olive, coconut or linseed oil (no other oils are suitable, sorry). Take 1tsp daily, store rest covered in fridge. Stains like beggary so don't use a pot you value to store it in.
Can also be taken dry mixed with honey, but I made a bit of a mess doing this as the powder spilled easily. Kitchen much cleaner when all turmeric stains removed from floor and work surfaces.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... Sounds like every one is busy. Well Iv mopped out the living room and hall, cleaned smelly bird cage ,bathed the dog and cooked the tea.
I can not do any washing as the machine is still broke. Called hotpoint who said it would be another ten days for the part to arrive. Tried to get in touch with customer services , engaged. Emailed hotpoint with my complaint and the ceo of hotpoint.
My machine is just under 18 months old and a major part has broke ie pcb board. They used to be well made and last years now they are rubbish.
Looks like bag wash on Thursday.
Rant over.
Going to meet dad tomorrow for my xmas present of Asda vouchers. May put them away for the sales.
mcculloch29 Ill try the Tumeric for my oh fibro.
Take care everyone.0 -

Well progress here is more the one step forward two back variety and now we are out for vast proportions of the next 4 days so I can only see it getting worse.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Morning,
Today my house really was a mess. I've been making quite a few changes to myself recently and I haven't really got it all together yet so new things have been coming in but I haven't jiggled my routine so it all fits in. Everything is like a knock on effect to the next.
So this morning I got up and had to wash up, DH usually does that but we ate late last night and it just didn't happen. I've put some laundry on, cleaned the hob (it was filthy), cleaned the worksurfaces and had a little tidy round in the kitchen. Next I need to do the rabbit pen and therefore the livingroom floor, put some laundry away so I can hang the fresh stuff up, do some ironing, tidy the wardrobes so the ironing can go away and generally make sure everywhere looks ok. Sounds like a bigger job that it is so I can't complain.
Hope you're all having a good day.0 -
Morning all!!
I'm tidying the kitchen today, i'm really lucky to have loads of worktops to use, but that also means that i have loads of space to leave things lying around!! I have 2 christmas cakes to ice this week, plus other christmas food items to make so i'm de-cluttering the kitchen. Unfortunately this also means i've had to tidy the pantry to fit in the stuff that i need but don't need on the worktops! I've relegated the slow cooker to the pantry, i use it 2/3 times a week but i'm going to make an effort to put it away when it's not being used. I'm just so lazy, i let things sit around instead of putting them away!
I'm having a quick coffee whilst on here, then off to make lunch for mr farmer and mr farmer jnr!
Yesterday was school xmas fair, did a roaring trade with the home baking, it was a fab afternoon. I can't believe the kids finish for the hols this time next week!!!
Hope everyone is having a good day!!
JxIt's a farmers life for me......:j0
