  • Hi Messies!

YL, re kitchen floor - didn`t I mention the dog hairs? Lots of those in the swamp matrix. I also found 3 missing teaspoons that eventually scrubbed clean, so that`s a plus! I`m glad your dog let you have a decent sleep, too.
Dibuzz, It`s the other way round here too lately - if I get up to the loo in the night I come down and let old Daftie-dog out - when I`m not up for work at 6am, that way less likely to have a wet rug when I do get up in the morning.

Snookey, at least if you have stray cats sheltering in your cellar there`s less likelihood of having rodent undesirables inviting themselves in!

FW, well done with the fudge and cake club. Great minds, eh? I`m SC-ing gammon too!

    Chez- Emm...
Can`t settle to much today, had a phone call yesterday pm to go for an outpatient appt tomorrow morning.
Hoping it`s just a dotting i`s and crossing t`s thing, but it`s a bit sudden so slightly disconcerting. OH is off so coming with me and we`re planning on going to see his elderly aunt.
I`ve got a lump of smoked gammon in apple juice in small slow cooker, and planning frozen wedges ( we like the co-op ones) and fried egg with it, an easy meal. And I`ve been scoffing toasted teacakes, it`s really criminal how more-ish those things are...

I hope everything goes ok tomorrow Emm.

I still haven't done a thing for Christmas, I just want to forget about it this year.

Hope the appointment goes smoothly and congratulations on unearthing the spoons!

We went gift shopping yesterday so nothing got done in the house so it's a bit of a mess, mainly clothes and paper so I'll deal with that today. I also need to brave the garden, it was windy last night and the compost bin flew off. Thankfully it's still in our garden so I'm going to drag it into the garage and clear up the mess. It's still really windy so I don't know how long I'll be able to stay out there. We've escaped being on a flood warning which is good, everywhere further up than us is on one, thankful for our long shallow beach today. Not so much the dunes which have plastered themselves to the windows! Hope you're all safe and sound.
  • Morning Messies!

Dibuzz, don`t panic. Some of us do tend to go a bit over the top, I have done in the past. The earlier you start the more OTT it can be. My only bit of panic here is going to be stuff like bread & milk - I`m working late 25th then 2 long days, so no shopping then!

Alec E - VERY windy here too.I`m already debating which route to take to hospital this morning. We don`t get floods in this patch, but as we`re quite high up it`s fallen trees and windswept roads that are the worry.

I`m really glad we`d arranged to visit OH`s aunt this afternoon, she`s one of those young-at-heart elderly ladies and we always enjoy a really good natter. I`ve been thinking of this afternoon and it`s distracted me nicely from thinking about this mornings` appointment. Have to get going soon though, to find a parking place at the hospital!

    Stay safe, everyone. x
  • Morning Messies!

Well, yesterday sure put my messy house into perspective... I had a mammogram yesterday, then they wanted a biopsy - the consultant has `cured` me once already, just over a decade ago when I had surgery on the other side. It seems they picked up something fishy on the CT scan I had before the cyst & hysterectomy, and so I was referred back to the booby doc.
He`s pretty certain it`s not a recurrence, but another similar tumour on the other side, but smaller than the last one. .. he`s pretty sure I will need surgery and radiotherapy again.
I see him again on Wednesday for biopsy result & a date for the op, probably before Christmas, he said.
Blimey, and there I was worrying about stocking up for when I`m working 26th/27th!
After seeing the consultant I called in to my ward, I`m not due back to work till 17th, but I thought I`d better pre-warn Sister that I might be messing up the Christmas off-duty! She was very nice about it, sympathetic etc.
Now, I`m not being blase or particularly brave, but more of a feeling really lucky that this has been picked up, sort of by chance! And this has no `fear of the unknown` element, I`ve been there once already, and I was really scared last time, but now I know it`s nowhere near as bad as the last op when I couldn`t bend in the middle or drive for weeks!!
We went to visit OH`s auntie as planned - she`s been through the same stuff, so we compared notes a bit. She`s doing a computer course, and the class is having a party this afternoon she was really looking forward to.

Last night I didn`t actually cook - I dug out 3 lots of leftover curry from the freezer, mixed them together. Curried Freezer Surprise! There was definitely some prok, and chicken - or turkey? Whatever, it was actually very nice and all got eaten.

    So, life goes on....
It`s Friday again, DGD will be here after school, there`ll probably be pie-making on the agenda, and the kitchen floor will soon be swampy again.
Have a nice Friday all. x

At least it's getting sorted quickly Emm, I hope everything works out ok.

I've managed to offload a few bags of clothes and bedding to the charity collections so I'm going to re-arrange the wardrobes/drawers in my room.
One of next door's fence panels blew out yesterday so we ned to put that back in when youngest drags hmself out of his bed.
I've bought 1 present so far but still struggling to think about Christmas.

Glad it was picked up early Emm, hope everything goes well.

Don't worry about Christmas dibuzz, it is what it is, not always a magical time of glitterballs and wonder! Make sure you take some time to do something you like, festive or not and concentrate on that. That's what I do when I'm not in the mood.

I had a bit of a mad do in the party supplies shop near my house and bought a few craft bits. I've put some drain declogger down the bathhole, done a bit of tidying in the kitchen, dyed my hair, dealt with rabbits, emptied bins and a few other bits. Have a good weekend everyone.
  • Hi all, like everyone else says Emms glad they have picked it up early and I really hope all is OK. As you say once you have been through something like this its never quite as bad second time around.

Well its been a manic day. Came home from work to an absolute bomb site in the house. DS was having a friend round for tea (one we dont know all that well) and I really wasnt pleased. OH had the job he was meant to be doing this morning cancelled and he has done some painting in the house but leaving the kitchen in such a mess really wasnt fair.

In fact I feel a bit fed up all round. Anyhow, I really should go and empty the dishwasher and fill it up again ...
  • All the best Emm. x x x x

Christmas is about spending time with family and loved ones, not the pressies and stuff. This year I have bought the basics only, as I just haven't got the money. Anyone who loves me will understand.

Fingers and toes crossed for you Emm. Not the best news but a others have said its been caught early and can be treated.x
Went round the charity shops today but they all seem so empty. Got a few books, dd a new top and some shopping essentials.
Dibuzz it can be hard to get into the xmas spirit of things when so much is going on in the back ground. Try to focus on the good things.
Was very Windy here on Wed night things hitting the windows. Had to go out today instead of Thur as planned as oh never slept. He hates the wind as when he was working on a ferry it started to sink after being battered by bad weather and they had to be rescued.

Outlaws coming tomorrow so a bit of cleaning in the morning before they get here.

    Take care everyone.
