  • Hi Messies!

I`m glad my DS isn`t the only grot who collects dirty pots in his room. I came home last night to another sinkful, plus the washer stuffed with his clothes (but not turned on!). GRRR.

Tatty Cath, good luck with mess-tackling. I`ll start on mine tomorrow, it`ll get worse today while I`m at work as DS is `tidying`his bit for GFs visit....

Snookey, sounds like you`re still overdoing things on that foot, but I bet you`re glad to be rid of the plaster. That`s lovely news about your DD, Bless her.

Alec E, & Dibuzz - I have that `getting nowhere` feeling too just now. I feel really drained and tired, between work and just the very basics at home.
Just need to get today`s late shift over, then I`ve got more annual leave so I will concentrate on the house.
The ward has been so busy lately, patients are lovely but staffing is dismal. Same old story!

Have a nice afternoon all. x
  • Hi messies!

snookey - good news about your daughter, you must be proud!

Emm - Try not to do too much when you have time off, you don't want to burn out!

I've been in the kitchen most of the day, i had a large shepherds pie to make for my workmates mum (she pays me to make things for her!) so i got that done then made flapjack as the cake tins were empty. Mr farmer likes cake with his coffee in a morning and then some more before he milks so i'm constantly baking!
I had physio on my back yesterday, never had anything like that done before so it was an experience! I have some exercises to do during the day and i'm sure i'm feeling the benefit already. I tackled the HUGE ironing pile this afternoon, mr farmer carried it all upstairs for me so i just have to put it all away.
I'm taking the girls down to Knutsford to visit my cousin tomorrow, we're going to see the christmas lights switch on and staying over, i'm quite excited as we don't see my cousin very often. Her daughter is my god daughter, she turned 4 last week so i can't wait to see her either.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend!!

Hi everyone, just coming to wish you all a good weekend. I've had another churning day but it's soon to be the weekend and we're going to the final of the rugby which should be fun.

Hi everyone. Iv done nothing today apart from the basics. Washing machine getting fixed on wed so Ill take a load to my dads this weekend.
Iv just woke up as my sleep is still all over the place which is why Im on here so late.
Emm Im with Farmers wife take it easy on your time off.
  • Errr - good morning, I suppose!
It doesn`t feel like tomorrow yet, I`m still unwinding & digesting today. It`s a rare luxury to be able to do that - OH has long gone to bed, I`ve done a late supper for DS & his lovely GF who arrived before I got home from work, (stir fry & singapore noodles) and DGD is also in residence for the weekend, and wants to do some cooking (wants to `Commit Pie` again!) I`ve also exchanged some lovely texts with DD tonight - counting my Blessings, really, and don`t feel sleepy at all yet.

Alec E, enjoy the rugby. One of my colleagues today working 8pm-2am is going to watch Wales tomorrow, not sure if it`s the one you are going to, but I hope she and you enjoy. I will probably be stil half asleep while you are cheering them on!

FW - I won`t burn out, it`s a balance thing. Your being in the kitchen most of today sounds idyllic to me...that`s NOW, after a few days on the ward! But after a few days off I know that a busy day on the ward will sound idyllic, apart from the getting up early bit! Even after an early night, I SO hate dragging myself out of my pit on dark mornings - but once I`ve got there, I feel like I turn into a different person. Weird. You take handover from night staff, they`re always pleased to see us come in, and I think `lucky things, they`re going home to sleep`, then when they start their handover my brain wakes up, and we scribble a few notes ( develop your own `shorthand`!) and hit the ground running. There`s never a dull moment till the end of a shift, if we`ve got enough staffing and there`s a `lull` it`s a chance to pamper someone who needs a bit more attention. There are wards less busy, but I wouldn`t want to go there. Time management at work isn`t a problem, so why am I so naff at that in the house???

I`ve got lots to do, catch up with, Messy-wise. DS`s pre-GF arrival room-tidying has exploded all over the house, as expected. Also, Dear old Daftie-dog has continence issues, so there`s a woolly rug outside waiting to be washed, and I desperately need to sort freezers, use up more stuff & make some space.
Urgent `to do` list includes slop some colour on my hair, cut my toenails, and sort out some alterations re OH`s trousers... , my fault, for feeding him well, he says.

I`ll be working over Christmas, which I don`t really mind. If it really means anything, besides the commercialism, and I wouldn`t be getting myself off to church if I was off duty then spending that time with my patients is the next best way to observe the occasion. Also, the date of Christmas as we celebrate it is still debated, so we`ll be having some of our bits out of sync.
eg. as we`re all here this weekend I`ve made a whopping sherry trifle tonight to be scooffed tomorrow. Err - today, later!

Hi Emm, Alec E is going to the Rugby League World Cup Final at Old Trafford, your colleague is going to the rugby union match - same shaped ball different game :D

I've been keeping on top of the boring stuff washing, dishes etc but not made any progress elsewhere. Eldest son had a change of dress code at work and no longer has to wear shirts and smart pants so there's not much I need to iron now :T

Yesterday I gave the bathroom a good clean, I'd just finished when the postman knocked and asked to use the loo so I was glad I'd done it.
I felt a bit nervous letting him in but he always makes a fuss of my dog and gives her a treat if he has to knock for any reason.

  • Morning everyone

Havent been on here for ages. Have had a really manic few weeks but I need to organise myself a bit better and take some time out for myself so thats what I am trying to do.

Emm what you said about being able to manage your time at work but not at home is so true. My work colleagues would be really surprised if they knew how I lived because they think I must live in this super organised, efficient, tidy house based on how I am at work!

Anyhow, here at home things are really in chaos because we are decorating DS2s bedroom so all his stuff is in our bedroom, DS1s bedroom and strewn along the landing. We have agreed with both boys that we are all going to have a big clearout, working through all our drawers, cupboards etc. I am going to buy some storage boxes and let the boys have one box each for "treasures" that can go in the loft. The rest of their stuff that isnt used regularly has to go.

After redecorating the living room and only putting back in there what was needed I have realised how much easier my life would be if we had less stuff. I could clean properly, we could find things easier and put things away properly. This is now my mission, whether I will achieve it or not remains to be seen ....

Anyway, sorry to hear about the visit to your cousin FW, you must be so disappointed, hope you can rearrange it.

Woke up very early this morning for some reason.
Christmas cake to make today (very late for me)
Meeting my parents for lunch as its Dads birthday
    Washing to sort out
Oh and i might put the tree up later as its now December!

Have a good Sunday all x
  • Hi Messies!

I hope everyone`s having a decent weekend, rugby-watching, visiting, cooking - or whatever else you`re at.
FW - shame about your cousin`s bug, but probably wise to keep away till it`s cleared up, hopefully you`ll be able to reschedule soon.

YL, it`s weird how we can be so different at work. Well done on the decorating and de-cluttering. It should be do-able if you have the rest of the household on board, so good luck!

I seem to have spent most of the weekend cooking or in associated activities (eating, washing up...) but its been well-received, DGD has helped a lot, and it is nice having DS`s GF here. I did HM burgers with a lump of double Gloucester cheese in the middle last night, with wedges and a sort of ratatouille. The burger experiment was lovely, I`ll be doing them that way again. Roast pork dinner soon, and apple pies (they seem to be breeding here!)
Apart from a trash-trawl (bins day tomorrow) and a few loads of washing I`ve done very little cleaning-wise. But at least the place hasn`t got any worse....
Have a nice evening everyone. x
  • Evening all!

YL - well done with the decorating & throwing out! It's made me think that I really should decorate the bathroom in the new year!

Well, not much going on here today. Been to Lidl for weekly shop, got home and mr farmer had lit the woodburner so we all sat down and watched a christmas dvd (mr farmer slept through it!).

Had a chickens in the slow cooker so we've just had that with roast potatoes and cabbage then apple crumble and custard/yoghurt for pud.

Off to physio tomorrow afternoon so i need to get some housework done in the morning before i go.

Emm - my cousin is still ill today so it's good that we didn't go to visit! Hopefully we'll see her over christmas.

Hope everyone has had a good day!
