I enjoyed most of it, loved Sam Tomkins denying them a certain try by kicking the ball away early on. I will miss him next year.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140

Derby day here in Liverpool. Dont really follow football though.
Not done anything today will have a good clean up Sunday DD unwell and oh with colds.
Have just had a catch up with an old friend which was really nice. Lost touch with so many people after my breakdown. Hopefully 2014 will bring better times for everyone.0 -
He's not my favourite player but I really enjoy watching Tomkins. I don't think Lee Mossop played particularly well for England but I like seeing him for Wigan too. I'm still super proud that Widnes had a player in the tournament.0

My dad used to take me to watch Widnes many years ago but the kids converted me to Wigan. I don't watch it that much these days as we don't have Sky and my kids play union so I watch that more.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Morning! My cleaner let me down this week so that beggared things up slightly, she just does the kitchen and bathroom plus floors downstairs but it meant I had to do it instead. I'm a bit worried as she hurt her back. Not just for her but from a practical point of view, she had asked for some payment in advance - I've known her a long time. From being paid up to Christmas we are now into Week 3 of the New Year with her missing weeks.
Sorted out a bag of crafty and stationery bits I used to use with teaching learning difficulties groups. Gov't cutbacks mean that type of work is gone forever I think. All such jobs now in the hands of non-educational professionals.
It's hard to accept that when you liked the job so much, but sorting took place and a huge bag of really not useful bits went out. The good stuff will be mostly rehomed. There are a few things, like bottles of PVA glue that come in handy round the house.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Good morning everyone.
Alec E & Dibuzz, hope you recover from the rugby excitement ready for the next game.
Snookey, well done catching up with your friend. I`m not the best at keeping in touch, though I always intend to write `soon`, and I have a very dear friend who I rarely see because she lives so far away now - I got a letter from her yesterday and feel guilty because I was already a lap behind!
Thankfully she understands I`m a dreadful procrastinator, and hasn`t given up on me yet! I`ll write today, post it tomorrow, even if I don`t do another thing today!
I`m starting to get in a tizz about Christmas stuff, too. I think my `denial` period may be coming to an end, but still can`t get motivated to plan shopping for pressies. I`ve got 2, but loads more to think of.
Other stuff, like Stocking Up - I`ve done really well. Won`t need to buy toilet rolls, sugar, coffee, dog/cat/wild bird food till next year! Caravan of Doom is pretty full. I`ve got a few tins of chocs for giving too, but don`t count them as pressies.
I need to have Deep Speech with DD about sorting what we`re doing re pressies for her 5, then at least there won`t be risk of duplicated pressies! That`ll be a big chunk of angst sorted, going to go see them today.
I still haven`t done much cleaning, just the basics and a bit of tidying. It`ll keep.
Have a nice sunday all. x0 -
It's freezing cold and frosty outside so I've decided to do the sensible thing and clear out the garage.
In perhaps related news my very ill laptop has finally given up forever. Have a good day folks.0 -
Hi Folks!
McCulloch, that`s a horrid situation for you and your cleaner. If I remember rightly, you`ve been let down by her before, and still wanted to help her out. I hope she recovers quickly, and you don`t struggle doing too much stuff yourself in the meantime.
Shame about the lappy, Alec E, but well done on the garage sorting.
Freezing cold here too, but sunny- I`ve dried a load of washing outside, and got 2 more pressies (used tesco vouchers/doubled) that I had been pondering over. Fluffy jumpers - they`re always welcome this time of year!
We`re having turkey dinner tonight - so that there`ll be leftovers for tomorrow night after work. I left the turkey cooking while I went to Mr T`s, and it`s looking lovely now. Unfortunately I put the gibbles on in a small pan and forgot to turn it off before I went out. Dunno why I bothered really, we`d only have given them to the dogs - I have put the burnt pan outside with water in. It`ll keep!
I`ve also brought in a basket of logs, and filled a carrier bag with rubbish out of the car, a job long overdue. Next, prep the veg (enough for 2 nights!) and make a fire. That`s quite enough for today with a long day at work tomorrow.
Have a cosy evening all. x0 -
Morning messies!
Bit of a dull day here, but not as cold as yesterday. I've had a quick tidy in the living room, put some washing on and have got a batch of buns in the oven. I've also got some soup to go in the oven when the buns are done - had a few bits of sad looking veg in bottom of fridge so have made veg soup with it! ha!
My back is on the mend, but i'm still walking with a limp much to the amusement of the kids! Still taking painkillers but a much reduced dose so i'm feeling human again now. This afternoon i'm going to start wrapping the kids xmas gifts (if i can find all the 'safe places' where i've hidden them) then i'll know who's got what!
Have a good day everyone!
