My home is a mess

I have cleaned surfaces, hoovered and am in the middle of doing two loads of washing with my bedding in a hot wash.
I still need to clean the bathroom but I'm leaving that until later tonight. I find it easier to clean the bathroom naked just before I have a bath.:DHOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000

Hi Messies!
FW, hope you enjoyed your night out & Alec E, hope you enjoyed the rugby.
Mummybobble, & FW, you are so right - the folks we care about are so much more important than having a tidy house. `Martha, Martha` is one of OH`s ways of telling me off when I get in a flap about the housework.
Snookey - SNOW!!?? I do hope not...we`v e got lower temps and sleet forecast for mid-week, that`s enough for now!
Chez Emm....
Quite a busy weekend here. I`ve done a very useful caravan of Doom tetris. Christmas stuff brought forward from back end of caravan, also FOUND SNOW SHOVEL - that should keep the white stuff at bay - and salt stash. Re-arranged other stores in there too, veg box and sacks of kindling more easy to get at now.
We had a log delivery yesterday, so nice full log-shelter, now have the second log basket (kept in caravan in summer) in LR again. I had a sort out of the apple stash, brought in the ones that needed using quickly, and, with DGD assisting, we didn`t just Commit Pie, we turned the kitchen into Pie Central!!
Using bought puff pastry sheets, we`ve done `tarte tatin` with the apples because it`s the easiest (butter & demerara sugar in frying pan, chuck in lumps of raw apple & stir around till coated, cool, put puff pastry lid on and bung in oven till pastry cooks, invert on a plate and put a few flaked almonds on top, brown under grill. Eat that one, and start all over again.... NO chance of keeping any for tomorrow, etc.!
We also made some giant ham & cheesy leek pasties to use up the gallon of cheesy leek sauce that I made. There is half a pasty left though, and a tiny sliver of apple pie that DGD wants to keep for her mum to sample later when she comes to collect her. It was going to be a whole pie, then a half...
We ran out of puff pastry yesterday (hardly surprising) so I nipped out to local co-op supermarket to buy some more.
After I got home I realised I hadn`t hung the car keys in their usual place in LR. I checked pockets, went back to look in the car, hecked front door (even theough I`d come in the back door. Checked fridge (several times!) in case I`d put them in with the bit of shopping, even looked in the oven! Then I gave up, knowing they`ll turn up somewhere silly. And I kow where the spare car key is.
OH & DGD didn`t give up, they hunted high & low, and kept asking me where I put them (well if I knew that they woulnd`t be missing, would they??) Then DS joined in the hunt, and same questions. Eventually, at 9pm last night, I spotted them. I`d hung them up on the utensil rack in the kitchen, beside the cooker! In full view, at eye level, beside the potato peeler.
Today I`m going to do a roast chicken dinner (cooked the chicken last night) and make a stew from the leftovers for tomorrow night - when I get home from work tomorrow I`ll just heat it up & throw in some dumplings.
Have a nice afternoon all. x0 -
I think we are all softies when it comes to our furry friends, I'm still sleeping downstairs with my dog so she's not lonely. I don't want her running up and downstairs yet but she seems back to her normal lively self now so we''l just give it a couple more nights.
Emm I'm exhausted just reading all that.
I'm the same with my keys, we have hooks on the door now after I kept losing them. The only problem is I don't have my own car now so keep putting son's keys on my hook out of habit then when I'm sat here I notice them and have to move them as thye don't look right.
My mum offered to buy me a new freezer as my christmas and birthday present then had a strop because I said I'm not sure what I want yet so wanted to think about it.
I don't see the point of just replacing it then thinking later I could have moved something to make the kitchen work better.
Apart from that I'm just doing the washing and cleaning the bathroom14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
He's home!:j He got here quite late friday night, I let the little ones stay up. They thought it was their nan and grandad so they hid in the kitchen. When they ran in dad was sitting on the floor! Naughty mummy had tricked them!
He didn't care about the mess, he made loads bringing all his stuff back. I wouldn't swop his boots and gorilla box messing up the hallway for a clean house at all!:D: DD1 23/11/09

Kat, enjoy your lovely family time, Bless you all.
Snookey - no snow yet!
I`ve just been out to check the car, and happy to say it`s not even frosted up this morning. I`m quite happy to be off to work in a min and be there all day - it was just the getting up early bit, that`s hard after a week off!
Have a nice Monday everyone. x0 -
Morning all!!
Monday again! I've had an eventful morning already....
Last wednesday i slipped whilst feeding the calves and pulled my back, didn't seem to bad at the time but woke up yesterday in agony!!! Spent most of the day laying on living room floor (good job i'd hoovered the other day!) and last night was a nightmare. I couldn't sleep so spent my time walking up and down in the kitchen and laying on the floor!! Soooo painful!! Rang the docs at 8am this morning to be told there were no appointments and i could ring back tomorrow morning, i cried and the poor receptionist was so nice and got the doc to ring me! He says i have Sciatica and wrote the prescription right away, i've been to the chemists and I'm now dosed up on painkillers and anti-inflammatories. Fingers crossed i won't be on them for too long!
So, i won't get much done today, poor mr farmer will have to make his own lunch as i'm hoping to get some sleep!
Have a good day everyone,
JxxIt's a farmers life for me......:j0 -
We started with week with a trip to the docs too J. Always fun isn't it.
Going back to the thing about family and friends being more important than a tidy house. Of course they are but it doesn't have to be one or the other. When my house was full of my hoard if one of my friends had turned up needing a place to stay or a shoulder to cry on I would have been almost as worried about how they were going to fit into the house as I was about the reason for their upset. Or if I needed to run out of the house because a rabbit was ill or I was going to meet someone it would take hours sometimes - finding clothes, keys, purse. Having a more or less tidy place means it's not on my mind when I'm socialising, getting out of the house takes minutes and it doesn't weigh me down.
Rather than being a slave to the house I'm now free to live as I choose. It was the stuff and always thinking "I should be ironing" that held me back before. Yes, there will be times where things stack up but it can be the exception to the rule, it's not about spending hours a day cleaning, a tidyish house can free up lots of time.0 -
Alec I think its more of enjoying the time Kat and the kids have with her oh as he is away for such long stretches. Im sure she will still do the day to day stuff.
Farmers wife get some firey Jack its fantastic although you will still need your prescribed meds. Helps release and soothe muscles. Get better soon.
Iv nearly done all the washing and drying. Tea cooked and ate and dishes washed.
Emm the daily mail rag ,says we will have snow. Also my sister in law keeps posting weather forcasts on my facebook. Hope we dont get any though.
Going out Tuesday now as oh not too steady on his feet due to fibro. Hopefully he will be better by then.
Take care everyone.0
