  • I started a trash-trawl in the bathroom yesterday afternoon, and have an almost-clear windowsill. DS`s shavy stuff causes most of the clutter up there, so I`ve put it all in a small plastic basket for him to sort out. The rest was just empty tubes & bottles - the stuff you don`t see when your hair is wet and you aren`t wearing glasses!

Emm - my bathroom drives me mad. Both DD and DS seem to believe that I am the only one allowed to actually remove empty bottles, tubes, toilet roll middles etc from the bathroom... On the odd occasion that they do bring them from the bathroom, they leave them in the kitchen not in the bin  I may have to resort to putting them into their beds just to inconvenience them (did this with the ex who had a very annoying habit of leaving wet towels on the bed so one night I put it under the duvet on his side of the bed. Meant I had to wash all the bedding but it really made him cross and he stopped doing it :rotfl:)
  • Dibuzz, you were lucky to waste so little stuff from the freezer - but that sounds silly, lucky would be if the freezer hadn`t died!

Sonastin, glad you`re enjoying your week off. I`m certainly enjoying mine too!
Snookey, that`s a good idea giving the tatty bedding to dog charity. I keep old duvets and stuff in caravan of Doom to use as beds for old Dafty-dog, because she trashes bedding quite badly so nothing lasts very long. And PLEASE, don`t overdo it yet with that foot of yours!!

FW, I`m so glad you`re feeling better, hope your DD has a lovely birthday.

Kat, I hope you and the little ones feel better very soon, whatever it is that`s made you all ill - the thought of your hubby coming home soon must be the best medicine of all.

Mummybobble - I HATE wet towels anywhere, and DS & DGD just leave them wherever they land. If it`s on their beds it`s their own fault - but they also leave them on bathroom or bedroom floor...I`ve begged them to hang them on the bathroom door hangers, because even if they go in a laundry basket damp they get smelly before they get washed. Yuck! I can get quite naggy about this one.

I`ve washed a couple of kitchen mats, and the bathroom mats,
veg for tonight rinsed and sitting in steamer, and now I`ve got changed ready for pubbing I`m pondering what to do in the next hour till we go that won`t get me messy again....

Hi all, not posted for a little bit, life seems to have got in the way. Bit of time off today so plan on getting some bits done online - ordering some tea towels to replace our old holey ones with marks on that I can't get off - they're not unhygienic but I'll be happy with some new ones. Small things! And getting some bits and bobs done - returning things to the right rooms - does anyone else feel this takes forever?!
  • The time taken gets less and less each time because even when things are out of order they're never quite as out of order as they once were!

After my whatever-that-was yesterday I made some changes. I went to the library, booked myself in for a taster session volunteering at a charity shop, looked in some clothes shops and started a shopping list and had a wander about on the beach.

Today I've put the dishes away and put some laundry in. Will finish decorating the door curtain and a few other bits and bobs. DH did the rabbit trays last night and emptied the bins, my hands are a mess at the minute so washing my hands is really painful so I get to have time off from the dirtiest jobs.

    Have a good day everyone.
  • Hi Messies!

Doobop, I`ve done away with traditional teatowels here - cos of the way the menfolk misuse them! I bought some microfibre ones, they were cheap, they dry very fast after washing, and that makes it easier to adopt the `one use only` rule. Great as long as you don`t use fabric conditioner on them, that seems to ruin them fast.

Alec E, well done for getting out and about. When I was off work for ages after my op it drove me bonkers being at home all day - now though, it`s a treat to have a day going nowhere, so I try to make the most of it. I suppose it`s about finding a balance that works for you.

Today, so far, I`ve seared one of the YS lamb-leg sections and put it in SC with some minty lamb glaze from farmshop butchers, and plotting to use last night`s leftover roasties veg & gravy for a nice bubble & squeak. Cleaned kitchen, and washed bedside rugs and little dogs bed, and AGAIN had to shift clutter from hall - it`s small enough without DS`s big boots, a pile of flattened cardboard, and a toolbox to trip over!
Not that long since I last de-cluttered it either!
I have to nip out soon, dropping some things off for DD and going past farmshop on the way, handy as I feel an urgent need for more leeks again....
Have a nice afternoon everyone. x

I can't use microfibre towels, they make me go all funny. Same with cotton wool, I can't touch paper for a while after washing my hands either :o

Muttkin goes for her stitches out tomorrow. That will be fun now she's back to her lively self although she's not eating much. She does have spells like that though and if I offer her something of ours she wolfs it down.
I'm hoping she can have a bath after we've seen the vet then all the blankets and throws can be washed.

I've not done much here, just a bit of decluttering but I'm managing to get youngest doing half an hour a day in his room, should only take another 43 years at this rate!

Hi to everyone and well done on any decluttering cleaning, ect.

Dibuzz Im going to have to make dd do her room every day as its just taken me two hours to clean and one binbag of rubbish. Iv taken my eye off the ball so to speak and she has got away with murder.

Alec hope your hands are better soon.x
  • Morning everybody!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes for dd, she had a lovely day (at school!) got a few gifts from some of her 'new' friends in year 7 so she was very happy when she got off the school bus. (such a relief that she's settled into 'big school' so well!)

Well, our TV died on wednesday night, to be fair we have had it 12 years so it's had a good innings! Mr Farmer has wanted to replace it with a fancy new one every so often but i've refused saying that if it's not broken we don't need to replace it! So now we are getting a new one today sometime! Much excitement!! The only thing is, i've had to tidy the living room - even the corner behind where the old tv was! EEEEK!!! Lot's of dust i'm afraid, but looks better for it!! I just need to hoover in there before the tv man arrives - i wonder if he'll notice the smell of polish?? :rotfl:

Kids went off to school in non-uniform today so i'll get a head start with the washing & hopefully will have time to bake at some point!

On the subject of wet towels - they drive me INSANE!!!!!!!!!

    Have a good day!

    Jxx
    It's a farmers life for me......:j
  • On the list of glamour tasks for the weekend is sorting out the toilet. Hooray! The water level is low so I did a bit of poking about online and found out it's probably a blockage somewhere. Deep joy.

    Enjoy your new telly!

Have a good weekend everyone whatever you're doing.
