My home is a mess

This dull dreary weather doesn't help does it?
I always feel better and get more done when the sun is out.
I haven't even thought of Christmas cards, not sure I'm going to bother this year, it just seems so pointless.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Hope it is just a blip FW and you're feeling on an even keel soon.
DH went back to work today so I have the house to myself for a full week for the first time in about a month! I think I'm going to have rugby withdrawal symptoms as we're not going to a game until Saturday! We went to Salford on Thursday and Halifax yesterday, both were brilliant.
Today I have started my diet and exercise regime as I could only just get my jeans fastened when I had my thermal leggings on the other night! I've done a bit of jumping about on my trampoline and some squats and had a healthy breakfast, so that's better than a kick in the face. Housewise there's some laundry in the machine, I've tidied DH's dressing room and made our bed. That's about it. I need to do a bit of a mini blitz to put some stuff away but that should only take 10 minutes. There's more laundry to sort (finally getting round to sorting the spare room from this time last month when we had our visitor). The house has held up pretty well so I'm not feeling too bad about things at the minute.
Have a good week one and all.0 -
Oh, Christmas cards, haven't done anything about it yet, need to send a couple of cards abroad so will go to the RNLI shop in the town at some point and get some.0

Just off to the shops. Re christmas cards I buy them every year and forget to send. Not bothering this year.0

Good Morning Messies!
Snookey, where staff are letting the whole side down like that there SHOULD be complaints. Think of the folks on the receiving end who are unable to complain too.
Dibuzz, my DS`s socks are nearly all odd, but similar. They go into a bag when clean then it`s up to him what he drags out to wear!
FW, I hope it`s just a blip too. Maybe a combination of the damp grey days we`ve been having, plus a bit of seasonal pre-Christmas angst? I`m fighting the latter myself, and re cards, I`m going increasingly `minimalist` - after all, it has become too commercialised and wastes tons of paper!
I had a lovely surprise at work yesterday - I`m still owed annual leave (as well as my 2 weeks in December!) and it seems sister thought this week will be best time for her to fit it in, so I`m off now for the rest of this week - lovely! Of course, this news gave yesterday`s shift a nice rosy glow.
Today, so far-
Got up early, inspired by a bit of sunshine, did a mug-trawl and soaked & washed he findings, put a WM load of towels in and hung them outside.
Done a `stocktake` of log-shelter, will tidy uot the bits that are still usable into an outside storage box and order another load this evening.
Plans for the day -
Cook some pork steaks I`ve defrosted for tonight, and an apple pie before the apples go off, and put a small lump of defrosted beef in slow cooker for tomorrow. (Still determined to make some decent freezer space!)
Cut the lavender, (first time it`s been dry enough for ages) and refill the pot on stair windowsill. The old stuff still smells if you touch it as you go upstairs, it lasts ages.
Then either do a bit more sorting in spare room, or shuffle stuff around in kitchen....
Have a nice day all. x0 -
Hello again. I think I deserve a coffee break, can`t believe how much I`ve managed to do today!
Line-dried towels brought in.
Log remains from log-shelter sorted.
Box of bits from spare room dropped off in CS, also bought myself a lovely dark greeny-brown velvet top - £2, and nipped in to co-op, found 3 half-legs of lamb YS from `half-price`, so a fiver each. As I`ve been using stuff out of freezer I actually have room for them, but back to square one again for freezer space now!
Cut the lavender and put some in the stair window, got the slow-cooker beef on for tomorrow, and prepped veg to have with tonights pork. Also had a good potter in garden - still a mess but I`ve pulled out loads of bindweed and brambles.
I`ve made DS a cheesy leek pie, and about to do some apples for an apple pie.
I can`t believe it`s only 4pm!!!0 -
I normally try and get charity cards, but A!di had some beautiful handmade cards, 5 for £1.79, so I got some of those.
Now that I work from home I don't have loads of office colleagues, though I do have e-colleagues who will get e-cards from my subscription. I keep forgetting to use it, it would probably be just as cheap to buy real ones!
My cleaner is supposed to be coming to help tomorrow. The last two weeks she hasn't been well.
I was a little bit worried, as last week her back was hurting after carrying shopping so she cried off.
I was also a bit annoyed, though I kept that to myself. I had given her an almost brand new shopping trolley, a pull one as I need a 'granny' push one now, as I was worried about her carrying heavy shopping bags - she lives on her own.
She hadn't bothered taking it shopping and hurt herself as a result. A good deed never goes unpunished.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -

I cheated with eldest, last time he needed new socks I binned them all and bought 20 pairs exactly the same as he only wears plain black.
Daughter only wears odd socks but they have to be matching odd ie random odd won't do they have to match in some way but she cant wear a proper matching pair.
I didn't get round to sorting the huge mound of football socks, we started to clear youngest's room and were doing quite will until we took a break and realised the freezer had packed in. It's over 15 years old and we have a small freezer on top of the fridge so some of it went in there, some things were a bit soft so went in the fridge to use over the next few days.
The dog was very happy with a bowl of mince before I put the sauce in it and wolfed it down followed by her dog food. She's not eaten much since her op so it was nice to see her enjoying it.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
When it comes to cards of any description, I restrict them to the people I won't physically see to personally pass on the sentiment. What's the point of a birthday card if you're giving the person a present. And why hand christmas cards to people to wish them merry christmas when you're stood in front of them saying merry christmas as you hand it over - particularly when you're in a group and basically just dealing them out like its a hand of poker. I have a small handful of friends that are spread around the country and when I remember, I send them christmas cards. OH has a few friends down in Hampshire that he sends cards to... so far I've managed to get away with making sure he writes them himself!
Days off are going pretty well. Bathroom was cleaned yesterday. OH and I made 5 trips to the tip today to get rid of garden rubble - saved the cost of a skip so just about worth it! I wanted to clear the bedroom today as we got one of those charity bags through the door with the collection day tomorrow so seemed like a good opportunity to clear out my wardrobe but OH missed that part of my plan and decided today was tip day. Still, its good to get the rubble cleared - we can use the driveway properly again now. Might do bedroom tomorrow instead. Definitely not working too hard though - plenty of relaxation time too.
FW - time to start fighting back against the blip before it allows itself to grow into something more substantial. Remember that you can choose how you react to it and take the control back for yourself. Decide your priority and make sure that happens - don't be pushed into doing something that someone else decides is important (and remember that your priority can be doing something for someone else... because its your choice!)0 -
I managed to get dd another xmas present today so thats one less to buy. Mother wants slippers so thats easy.
Emm well done on your declutter. Dibuzz I do that with socks now as life is too short sorting odd socks.. Sonastin sounds as if you have been extra busy too, well done.
Im tempted to start saving a bit of money each month and get a deep clean done of the house after christmas. The firm I looked at charge 80.00 for a four bedroomed house. Mind you they have not seen mine yet it could double, lol.
Iv more stuff needing to be decluttered so thats on my hit list. Iv bags of bedding that Ill give to the dogs charity as its a bit tatty, clothing needs to be sorted as most wont be worn and just a general purge of stuff.
Well Im off to drink my coffee and sleep if I can. Take care everyone.x0
