  • Hi Messies!

Allym, welcome. " I can`t `fly` as I crash into things" - I love it!! That sums up the clutter in my house too. A week off is a wonderful thing but it goes too fast, good luck with the plan anyway.

Doobop, the only good thing about having a cold is the excuse (if you need one) for making SOUP! Hope you feel better soon.

Sonastin, I`m glad you had a bit of a change at the weekend, you sound much more cheerful. Re you dog allergy, apparently poodles are ok for most people who are otherwise allergic, something to do with their hair being more `wool` than hair, and their skin not flaking the same as other breeds.

Alec E & FW, glad you enjoyed the rugby. I don`t understand the game, but I love the singing (on telly)when Wales is playing!

Kat, Bless you, the week will soon go but it must seem like ages when you`re so looking forward to OH`s return. Don`t overdo the cupboard clearing and wear yourself out!

Snookey, of all the various mobility aids I`ve seen in use, I`ve never actually seen a knee-scooter! And those `grabber things`....when I had my op and wasn`t allowed to crouch & squat etc., I used barbecue tongs.

Well - 2 days off now. Yesterday`s shift was quite horrible, staffing issues and low morale, folks niggling each other instead of trying to make the best of things - only makes it harder work, really.
House is a tip. Spare room still a work in progress, but I`m about to take a big box of stuff to CS this afternoon, that`ll clear the decks a bit more. After that, I`ll either `take myself by surprise` and start a blitz, or get the timer out for some 20-minute sessions. I`ll report progress later - if there`s been any!
Have a nice afternoon all. x

It was a great game wasn't it! I decided to support Scotland before the tournament began as one of my favourite Widnes players plays for them. We are going to Leigh tonight for Tonga v Cook Islands.

Emm, if it's any help you're probably talking about Rugby Union, I don't have a clue about the rules of that either.

I am supposed to be on a really strict budget this month but we went past the greengrocers and I couldn't resist. So this afternoon I've done a batch cook and the associated washing up. Hope you're all having an ok day.

You won't be far away from me then, we're only 15 mins from Leigh.
We always watched league but my youngest plays union and my daughter played too but would rather do extra shifts at work these days. She was a great player though she played for Lancashire and North of England at U15 and U18s.

Doggy is almost back to normal. The vet is happy with her progress and said she had the longest op but was first one awake. She has the stitches out in 10 days. She's not eating much of her own food but has been wolfing down fresh chicken with her medicine. She actually sat looking at her tablets this morning till I gave her one, don't know what I will do when she has finished them :rotfl:

There's not been much progress in the house but I'm getting plenty if knitting done so not all bad. I'm managing to keep on top of the washing and ironing though even though it's wet and windy here.

  • Hi All.

Alec E, I barely even know the difference between rugby & football!
Dibuzz, I`m glad your dog is almost her old self again. (What are you knitting, btw?) And even just keeping on top of the laundry is an achievement in this weather.I`m telling myself that anyway!
Yesterday, apart from stuff to CS, and 1 WM load (also dried last night & put away) I did manage to sort 3 fruitboxes, reduce the contents to one box and skip the rest. The spare room doesn`t look any better than before I started, but at least I know that there`s less carp in there! It`s still dis-heartening because I can`t do much more because a lot of DS`s stuff is in the way, and he`s lost interest in sorting it again (It didn`t last long!)
    Today - 1 WM load, a half-hearted forage in DGD`s room for laundry/mugs & rubbish, and a very basic kitchen clear-up.
    I`m feeling very CBA.
Can`t decide what to tackle next, can`t decide what to cook tonight, need a kick up the bum to get going again....

  • Hi Alec E - thanks, you made me feel a lot better about not doing stuff!
Dibuzz, that`s a lovely little jacket. You`re sure to find a mum who`d be glad to take it off your hands.

I finally decided to make a curry, used some leftover lamb from freezer and a `spring` cabbage! While I was rummaging for spices etc. I tidied some of the stuff that clutters worktops, and cleared & wiped a kitchen windowsill. ...shame about the other windowsill, the floor, the hob.....

roobarb3 - Hi, everyone has been so nice. I'm glad your son got home safe. Please tell me it gets easier the more times they go, He's already talking about his next tour!

Emm-in-a-pickle - I managed two cupboards, a load of washing and to put on the dishwasher, then I needed a sit down!

It's been a busy day here, went out at 10.15 and just got back, only had time to put 2 loads of washing out this morning.
Youngest son hasn't had a good couple of weeks first he crashed his car, he wasn't hurt but it's off the road till he can repair it then he was laid off on Friday.
He's not happy as he was doing 12-13 hours most days but only being paid for 8, his boss said it will all even out over the winter as there will be less work and days off due to bad weather but as soon as they changed to the winter schedule he said he didn't have enough work for him.
He's been to an agency today, I sat outside in the car thinking he would only be about 15 minutes and he was in 90 minutes by which time I was desperate for the loo so we went to McDonalds which was closest.
We then had to find him a plain black polo shirt which sounds simple but took ages because everywhere has their jumpers out instead now and he needed steel toed boots.
Anyway he is now kitted out for an induction at 4.30 so keeping everything crossed for him.

The dog is almost back to normal so hopefully we can start gettting straight again now ready for Christmas which I'm trying not to think about.

  • Hi Messies!

Kat, that`s 2 cupboards more than I did! And another day of waiting gone.
Dibuzz - your poor son! What a dirty trick his ex-employer has pulled, getting all those unpaid hours work out of him then laying him off! It`s a terrible way to treat youngsters who want to work. I do hope the agency work goes well for him.

    Chez- Emm...
I`m in the middle of a `one in/one off` section of the rota just now, yesterday work was quite nice, off today, back in all day tomorrow. I`ve got loads done today, too, been quite unusually organised!
Washed LR woolly rug & 3 small mats from kitchen & back door. Swept floors (but didn`t mop - tut!), clean rugs down.
Went shopping & only got what I needed. (Very MSE!)
Did fridge & freezer tetris & put shopping away.
Making pea & spring onion soup for tonight, with cold pork sandwiches to dip (to use up what needs using.)
Dumped another bag of old tatty exercise books/papers in recycle skip.
I think that`s enough for one day!
Have a nice weekend all. x
