My home is a mess

The vet rang earlier to give us the test results, the tumour was cancerous but they think they got it all out.
They were a bit puzzled though as it's a tumour normally found in limbs and they have never seen one in a mammary gland before, trust our dog to be different.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Dibuzz glad to see the dog is on the mend and that they caught the tumour in time. I know I gave you a challenge re the 10 things and I will do my side this week.
Yesterday I cleaned the kitchen, hoovered the stairs and landings, Hoovered the livingroom, cleaned out the bird cage, mopped and cleaned the bathroom and hoovered and cleaned our bedroom.
Today Iv been for a cast change as the other was rubbing. Had to get through a little hitler to get this done. My gp advised me to get it changed as it was loose and rubbing, Phoned the hospital and was asked if my gp was a consultant in orthapedics. Wrong spelling, anyway.
Said I did not know but as he is a gp I trust his judgement.
Turns out that she is only a plaster tech!!!!.
All Iv done today is sleep as I dont of a night although Ill take a sleeping tab later.
Emm you sound busy and the food lovely as usual.
Welcome to the new messy people, x.
Enjoy your weekend everyone and take care.0 -
OH and I have just come back from staying at his mothers. I'm a lifelong committed messy and spent my student years winning the games of "who is going to crack first and clean this sh!thole up" chicken with my fellow-messy house mates. But jeepers, even I found his mothers place to be unpleasantly filthy. OK so perhaps it wasn't quite as bad as the house I lived in with 3 lads at Uni but really, it was not in a good way. And the bit that was most disturbing about it is OH says she was going to get herself a cleaner but his sister talked her out of it by promising to do the cleaning herself. I don't know if the low standards are his mothers or his sisters or if they are both as bad as each other, but I do know that his sister is a money-grabbing little so-and-so and it wouldn't surprise me if she stopped her mum getting a cleaner so that she wasn't spending all the inheritance. Sorry to say that it has put another barrier between OH and his mother. I'm hoping it'll mean we can stay in a B&B next time we're visiting though - she always winds OH up and brings out the worst in him so if we can stay elsewhere and just visit for a cuppa, there's a better chance of them not totally destroying their relationship.
I'm at the start of a week off work now so I have lots of grand plans for de-messying and cleaning this house. Watch this space - I reckon I'll be back here this time next week reporting that I've done precisely f*** all!0 -
I've been up since 2 am ( only went to bed at 12.30 so hoped I'd do better than that) and have decided to sort this room out later. I think the dog is well enough to have her bowls back in the kitchen now and her car travel box can be folded and put away until Friday when we go for her stitches out.
Yesterday my eldest was looking for something that I thought may be under the sofa so we pulled it out and found 2 newspapers dated 2nd and 3rd of January
He decided to move his bed last night to see if he can make room for a new computer desk so we got rid of the usual rubbish that collects and we are goign to give it a good clean and tidy when he's off in another week.
I've also decided that youngest's clothes are going in his room, I'm sick of having to move 2 laundry baskets full of ironed clothes just to get into the drawers or wardrobe. He won't be happy as it's an obstacle course to get across his room as it is but I've had enough now, he and his sister have the 2 biggest rooms and you cant see the floor in either of them.
My neighbour who has alzheimers and is in a home was 79 on Friday and they are having a little party for her this afternoon, I'm not sure what to expect as she hasn't known me the last few times I've been but I miss her so much.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Hi Messies!
Snookey you should have reported the sarcy comment, it was out of order - you were, correctly, following your GP`s advice!
Sonastin, enjoy your week off, however much or little you get de-messied! At least you got the in-laws visit in before the week rather than after it, and that`s a good thing imho.
Dibuzz, one day I`m going to tackle the boxes under DGD`s bed...that will be another bit of domestic archaeology! I hope the dog adjusts to her `normal` routine again and your neighbour`s birthday goes well. It is sad when folks like her forget their friends and family, but it`s even sadder when the friends and families forget them and no longer visit or care.
Yesterday was busy but nice, the on-call docs were juniors from our consultants team, so based themselves on our ward where they feel at home, they`re both lovely. Weekends are nice to work because there`s less managerial and officialdom interference, but it`s still busy in a different way.
Today-
Got a fair bit done, 1WM load, tidied LR & kitchen, took Littly-dog for a walk and a run around the little field nearby, shame to waste a sunny day when I`m not in work....
Also put bins out for tomorrow, including another load of carp sorted for chucking from spare room...getting rid, slowly!
I`ve made a cheesy leek sauce and going to put it over some defrosted chicken breasts in oven for supper, with wedges and steamed broccoli & cauli - using up veg as I won`t feel like using it after work tomorrow and it won`t be as fresh on Tuesday. Another long-day tomorrow (Monday, yuk!) so an early night tonight.
Have a nice evening everyone. x0 -
Hi everyone!
Hope you've all had a nice weekend?
Not much tidying happened here i'm afraid!! I seriously need to get myself into gear this month......

The party went well, my neighbour looked beautiful and you would never guess there was anything wrong with her, at first she remembered everyone but soon got confused again. They had brought a singer in who does a lot of nursing homes, he was saying he has done parties where only the staff were there even though the resident had family living nearby.
We got the tyre sorted, there was a screw in the side of it so we had to get a new one.
I don't think there will be much done today now, I almost left the ironing yesterday but am so glad I did it now.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Hi everyone.
Emm I had thought of making a complaint but the last time I did that in a hospital some staff gave me the cold shoulder. It was a valid complaint re asking for the on call doctor to check a wound that was causing a lot of pain. I ended up going home and asking my gp to take a look. Stiches had burst.
Will consider making a complaint as she said it again when I went to the plaster room.
Glad work went well.
Iv done a few loads of washing and drying, dishes and ironing. I hate ironing but dd stuff needed it.
sonastin you made me laugh . My oh mother is a clean freak and moaned that I was a dirty cow because she found a potatoe that had sprouted. Id left it there so she would find it,lol.I knew she would nose.
Dibuzz my dd room looks like a pit again so its bin bags in there tomorrow. We have flies buzzing around so its either something in her room gone mouldy or the cats have brought something in and its dead.
Now flys are dead.
Well I must hop off now. Take care x.0 -
I hope you find it snookey, we had fruit flies in my daughter's room once and it turned out to be a well rotted banana in an old school bag
I have a nosy mum too, she will pick up a letter and read it but not just ones left out, she will actually open envelopes to read them.
I can't make anything without her asking what it is, I came in yesterday to find her sitting here looking through my knitting and crochet so I was bombarded with questions "who is that for? why have you made that? what are you going to do with it? how much was the pattern? how much was the wool? what's the point of making it if you've nobody to give it to? I wish I had time to sit and knit" To the last one I replied " try sleeping for 2 hours a night and you will have plenty of time"
It's another rainy day here, I'm going to the doc's this morning then have some washing to sort out. Today is the day all the odd socks that have been in the "odd basket" for months will be checked one final time and thrown away if I can't pair them up. It's mainly football socks I think and some will be too small now anyway so hopefully I can make some space there..14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
HI everyone!
Well, i'm feeling a bit down todayit's ages since i've felt like this, not sure what has set it off. Now i'm worrying that I'll be back at the docs and on the tablets again before xmas. ho-hum. Maybe it's just a blip and i'll be ok in a few days, just don't want things to get on top of me like they have done in previous years.
Just done the minimum so far today, have to take daughter to Orthodontist this aft so we're going to pop into Wilkos to see if there are any bargains to be had!
I haven't bought any xmas cards this year yet, where do you all buy yours??
