My home is a mess

Same here, son has had virtually nothing but Primarni's black socks bought for him for years.
Snookey, my original cleaner charged £20 an hour for a team of two cleaners, wonder how long your deep clean will take? Really is worth it. I had to stop using her when my income dropped.
Recently I took on another person, who is cheaper, but by virtue of being just one pair of hands she can't do as much in two hours.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... Hi all
Havent been around here for a while, have just been sooo busy. Dont know why I put the effort into getting our living room redone and buying new sofas as I never get time to sit in there!
My lovely doggie woke me up at 4.30am this morning scratching at the kitchen door. This has only ever happened once before, when he was ill, so after waiting a while to see if he would stop I came downstairs. He is now trying to sleep on my lap but there isnt really room for us both on the computer chair. I really hope it was just that something woke him up and this is a one off! No point in going back to bed now, hubby will be grumpy if I wake him up though so I will wait a bit then get showered and dressed.
Going to be a long day. I am at work until this afternoon then will hopefully get time to continue clearing out the coal shed from all the rubbish that has landed in there over the summer - so I can actually buy some coal!
Have a good day everyone x0 -
Just realised why my ironing pile is so small, I have 5 of them in different rooms! I really need to get a grip over the next couple of weeks. Can't remember the last time I dusted (whoever came up with the idea of black TVs and black glass stands ought to be shot, although the dust appears to have become self-repellant and isn't getting any worse
) and two kittens shredding wallpaper aren't helping...
While wanting to reuse/recycle as much as possible I think for piece of mind I think there needs to be some serious binning going on so at least I can start to see the wood for the trees. I'm not in work today and DD and DS are in school so I'll be back later to report progress :wave:0 -
Morning everyone!
sonastin - Thank you for your kind words, you are totally right!! I'm not feeling too bad today, i've been out and done my farm chores then walked the dog - all before the kids got up!! So i'm feeling much more motivated today, long may it last!
Lovely daughter is 12 today so i'm baking scones etc for afternoon tea when she gets home from school, my parents are coming round to eat too.
I've just mopped kitchen floor, doormat is in washing machine, the dogs bed is in the queue for the washing machine too. Going to wash the car next as i'm taking my mother shopping tomorrow. I hate shopping, and having to shop with my mother is twice as bad. She's so impatient, if there's a queue at the tills she'll announce in a loud voice WELL I'M NOT STANDING HERE ALL DAY! drop the items she wanted and walk out (while i cringe!). I'm just thinking that if i do it tomorrow then that's it for this year!! haha!!
Hope everyone is ok!
JxxIt's a farmers life for me......:j0 -
Iv been up since five as I could not sleep. Iv cleaned the minging kitchen. Dog has had stuff from the bin bag.. Cleaned the hall and sorted out the shoe rack as it was falling apart.
Im now resting as my foot is pinging.
Going to do dd room later as yet again it looks like the inside of a bin.
Happy birthday to your dd farmers wife.0 -
Happy birthday to your daughter J.
I have problems shopping with my mother but not quite the same, she does the loud sighs and rolling her eyes if she's kept waiting but the worst thing is taking half an hour dithering over something but as soon as I want to look at something she says we haven't time or she hasn't got all day to waste.
It's not too bad here today, dull but not raining so I've got some washing out.
I put the dirty bath towels in the broken freezer yesterday to soak up the water which worked well and they are now in the washing machine, no point using clean ones.
We've got plenty of bolognese left and also battered fish, chicken dippers and a meat pie to use up. I had intended to go shopping yesterday morning too so I'm glad I didnt do it or there would have been more and some would have been wasted.
If the kids don't eat all the dippers I will peel the breadcrumbs off and the dog can have them so I think there will only be a loaf and some ice cream wasted. The ice cream was past its best before anyway.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Happy birthday to your DD, J.
Well done for rescuing virtually everything from the freezer, what a pain though.
I haven't done very much today. I'm going through a bit of a weird period at the minute where I feel like a frump. I tidied my wardrobe yesterday, everything in there is something I like and it fits but not all that much of it goes together so I often look like a bit of an oddity and it's never bothered me before but now it does. I also feel out of sorts with where we live. I've never felt like I've settled in even though I love the house and the area. I just don't feel a part of it. I haven't even walked on the beach since about September which is insane as it's why we moved here. No wonder I can't get into any kind of routine when I feel so all over the place.
I dislike gift vouchers with a passion but FIL insists on getting them for me so I've requested some from next as it will force me to buy some of the boring basics I need but find it hard to want to part with my own cash to buy it! I know that has nothing to do with the house but I needed to get it out there!
Have a good day one and all.0 -
Hi Messies!
Another quite productive morning here - up early as OH had a dental appointment, so I dropped him off, dashed to Mr T for some bits to use a £5 off coupon, then we called in Farmfoods on the way back (it leads to the `scenic route` home) and stocked up on a few staples from there. All put away now too.
OH has suggested the pub this evening...
Beef is cooked ready for tonight, got frozen yorkies & roasties at Farmfoods, so just sprouts to pick off the stalk later and some dirty carrots to scrub, chuck them in the steamer & thicken the beef stock. Not too much effort when we get home then! Just need to sort out some tidy togs to wear...
I started a trash-trawl in the bathroom yesterday afternoon, and have an almost-clear windowsill. DS`s shavy stuff causes most of the clutter up there, so I`ve put it all in a small plastic basket for him to sort out. The rest was just empty tubes & bottles - the stuff you don`t see when your hair is wet and you aren`t wearing glasses!
Hope you`re all having a nice afternoon. x0 -
I have that problem too Emm, I can't see a thing without my glasses. If I knock them off the bedside unit onto the floor I have to get one of the kids to find them.
We aren't too bad for shaving stuff, eldest has a beard and uses an electric beard trimmer and youngest's hardly grows so doesn't need to shave much, in fact I can probably grow a better tache than him
I'm just about to wash the dishes and clean the kitchen, we had a half hour blitz in youngest's room and found 5 pint glasses and a couple of plates so they are soaking whilst I have a cup of coffee.
I'm also decluttering a ball of wool by crocheting it into squares for a charity appeal.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
