  • Morning Messies!
FW, I`m glad your DD had a good birthday. I know what you mean about relief when they settle happily into `big` school, my DD`s eldest has taken to it really well too, he loves school! He`s always been keen but we did wonder how he`d take to the change to secondary - it`s so different to a little village school.

Dibuzz, good luck at the vets.

Snookey, SHOULD you be cleaning for 2 hours yet???

    Well, it`s Friday again.
Unusually, I have the whole weekend off (our rota week starts on a Sunday, so Sunday isn`t annual leave it`s first day off next week, longday on Monday) and DGD will be here after school, so it`s nice to have more time with her.

Today is dull, damp, but at least not raining like yesterday. I got everything dried last night (wouldn`t cope without nursery fireguard!) and tidied kitchen before I went to bed, so now I`m still wondering where to start today...
I`m tempted to do a bit of tetris in caravan of Doom, at least move the Christmas stuff out from the back corner (small tree, wrapping paper & gift bags etc, very minimal decs.) before it gets more buried by sacks of birdfood, dogfood & kindling.
No shopping or outings today, so an opportunity to get stuck in at home. As it`s dry, I might even get the mop on LR & kitchen floor. Or not. Until it`s time to cook again - I have requests for more leeky cheesy sauce, and some lovely fresh leeks from FS.
    Have a nice day all.x

Stitches are all out, wasn't easy but it's done now. She didn't want to stand still so I had her in an arm lock holding her up at the same time. The poor vet was half lying on the table but somehow managed to get them all out.
We don't have to go back unless we notice anything so we'll just keep checking her over.

I think the bath can wait, she's being a bit clingy and following me around so I will leave it till tomorrow.

We came back to find a "sorry you were out" card from Royal Mail for my daughter. She's waiting for a parcel, I said it would come whilst we were out and it did, 5 mins after we left! They always put 24 hours on the card now as well so I can't pick it up till tomorrow.

All the recycling has been collected now and the containers are strewn across the entrance to the drive so I need to get them in and rinse them.

I've got some sorting out to do upstairs, I was looking for some wool and caused an avalanche at 6am, luckily a wool avalanche hardly makes any noise but it all needs putting back now.

Emm most of the cleaning was done sitting on the floor as most stuff was on it. Dirty little begger had thrown her rubbish on the floor so today I bought her a bin. Better use it or else, lol.

Got milk and bread in in case it snows next week. Bread was reduced to 8p and 14p so needless to say swiped a load.

Im not going to move out the door now unless in dire need. Will do the washing over the weekend and anything else will be a bonus.

Take care everyone. Enjoy your weekend.
  • Morning messies!!

Hope everyone is ok. What a grey miserable day it is here :( i've dropped my son at his new weekend job on a farm about 5 miles away, came home via the bakers for some half price bread - marked down because it was yesterdays! Cleaned the bathroom and downstairs toilet so they're all nice and fresh, unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher and now having a coffee.

I'm going out with 2 friends tonight so i'm going to rifle through my wardrobe for something suitable to wear..................

Snookey - where do you live? Is it likely that you will get snow? We don't get much here as we are near the coast.

  • DH has been busy this morning, the new voiles are up in the living room, hopefully they'll help a little bit with warmth. We've had a bit of a blitz round, Dh did the washing up and dealt with the recycling. I have put some laundry on, put some dry laundry away, swept the floors and had a tidy round.

That's probably all for today, we're going to Wigan to watch the rugby tonight, England v France. Have a good weekend.

Enjoy the rugby, I hope you've got your thermals on.

After getting about an hour's sleep last night I've not done much today apart from pick up a parcel from the sorting office and a bit of sorting out.

Farmers wife we live near the coast too so will see little snow but I dont fancy even a little snow on crutches. Plus the bread was so cheap.
It must be a bonus having a farm near the coast as It must be hell on earth for farmers when they get heavy snow.
    Enjoy your night out.
Iv done nothing today as I got little sleep due to the cats deciding to play up. Its getting colder so they decided that they wanted to get under the covers with me. Then they were knocking things off the sides and generally just being pains. I ended up putting two out at six in the morning and one evicted to the landing.
They sit and cry normally if you shut the bedroom door . Spoilt.

    Take care everyone.
  • Hopefully I'll be able to make some progress soon, always get a bit of a pre-Christmas need to tidy! Mainly because of the amount of furniture that has to be moved to make room for the :xmastree:

Had a bad couple of weeks with the passing of a close family friend, and her funeral this week (first funeral for DD and DS so made it extra hard, but they thought it was important to be there and wanted to go). A lovely friend who thought I needed cheering up treated me to afternoon tea yesterday. It was a fundraiser for the Salvation Army and a very civilised way to spend a Saturday afternoon, though I really should have been ironing!

Makes me think that (as much as I want a clean and tidy house), being there for family and friends, and appreciating them, is more important. Until it becomes a health hazard - which my kitchen floor possibly is :o - I will plod on doing what I can when I can, but remind my self that those you love are more important then the pile of ironing (and I have several piles of ironing in different rooms to make it look less...)

Football for DS this morning and school show rehearsals for DD this afternoon so another busy day, though I plan to get on top of the pots and iron uniform for tomorrow if nothing else.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend x

  • Morning!!

MummyBobble - I decided a while ago that being there for friends/family in my life was way more important than having an immaculate home. If i spent all my time cleaning and tidying to make my house look like a show-home i'd have no time for my friends and very little time to spend with my family. I don't want my children to grow up remembering that all i did was clean! My house is 'lived in', it's not filthy or unhygienic, we have lots of 'stuff' that i'd love to throw out but hey-ho i'll find the time when the kids are grown up and aren't here for me to spend time with!!

I had a lovely meal last night with friends, got home late so i'm on a go-slow today! Lunch is in the oven, i need to iron the uniforms for school tomorrow & set the fire for lighting later as it's a bit chillier here today. Mr farmer is outside sawing logs (i can here the chainsaw as i type!) as it's meant to get colder this week so we may need the fire on every night. I don't have it on through the day but like it to be cosy for the kids when they get back from school.

Hope everyone is having a good day!!

    Jxx
