My home is a mess

  • Hi Messies!

Well, I`m back from hospital, it is as expected by the consultant, so no surprises there - I`m having the op on 23rd, but should be allowed home Christmas Eve. My manager wasn`t in today, had hoped to see him after seeing the doc, so I`ll ring him tomorrow. Have to have a pre-op assessment, but don`t have a date for that yet - otherwise I can sort of start to plan ahead now...

McCulloch, re the turmeric, I`ve done some searches and like what I saw, and I use lots of olive oil so that`s no problem, but the only thing that`s temporarily stopping me is it can interfere with clotting, so best avoided pre-surgery. That refers to taking `dose` amounts, btw, not the bit you`d have in curries etc. I`ll defo try it in the new year, my thumbs are killing me today after all the mopping and henrying yesterday!

Snookey, that`s awful having to wait that long for a new WM part, whatever it is! You carry on complaining, it might do some good. My poor old WM is in action again already - old Dafty-dog had peed on the clean woolly rug last night, which she hasn`t done for the last couple of weeks - no excuse as we were up at 6.30 to get ready for hospital appt. Took her out, of course, and shoved rug in WM before we left, mopped & put a clean rug down. Then when we got back at 11.30 she`d done it again! Now the second rug in in WM, and Dafty-dog is completely deaf, so no point in grumbling at her....

Waiting for the gas man now, could arrive any time after noon. LR is really unusually tidy, and I`m half thinking of putting the tree up and a few decs, though it`s early for us.
Found some nice recipes in waiting room magazine today, inc `twice-baked souffles`. Just pondering what to have with them, before I try it out.
Still eating the beef from Monday (!) so oven in use later for roasties etc., OH will soon be ready for beans on toast at this rate!

So far today I have been out for essentials and transferred a box of bin liners into 2 carriers and put them away. Box in recycling.
    I need to:
    1) Totally blitz the lounge coz DD1 wants to put christmas tree up.
    2) Sort out stuff for charity-I've hoarded stuff long enough and something has to give.
    3) kitchen needs blitzing
    4) bedroom needs blitzing too
    Where to start...
Well I definitely won't get it all done today so I will start on lounge.

  • Emm - BIG HUGS!!!!

    Been thinking of you!

    It's a farmers life for me......:j
  • Thanks, FW. Never too many hugs in this world. I`ve very little worktop space, which is probably just as well here! Glad your home baking stall went so well.

Tattycath, starting is the hardest bit. Once I get going, I`m fine!

Tree is up, and the knitted nativity scene is nestled under it. No other decs yet, waiting till Friday as OH is out on work do and DGD will be here so we`ll do that together.
    Goodnight all. x

Emm I hope someone else will be cooking over the festive period for you. Although its not the best news at least you will have the time with your family which is. Here is another hug from me.x
Tatty Cath well done on the lounge.
I went for essentials yesterday and my dd carol concert at school which was lovely. Apart from that very little else.
OH has pulled something in his back so not too good .

I must get motivated as I need to clean this midden.

Had a email from customer relations passed on ny the ceo that I contacted . Hopefully hotpoint will sort my machine quicker.

    Take care everyone.
  • Good Morning!

Thanks Snooky, I will be delegating a bit with the cooking, pretty much like after my last op so the menfolk should be able to follow instructions again. I hope your OH`s back is all better soon, and well done on the cage-rattling re WM, hope it does some good.
Tattycath, well done on the lounge, I think it helps motivation if there`s at least one room sorted.

    Chez-Emm...
I now have a date for my pre-op assessment - it`s Tuesday, half an hour before my next shift starts. I`ve told them I`ll be late for that late shift, and they`re fine about it. Meanwhile, I`m going to try to make the most of the last few days of `holiday`! Have a few errands to do today, then picking DGD up from school. It`s dark & dreary today, so might as well be out and about.
I still have a couple of woolly rugs hanging around airing upstairs, and some Christmas present stuff in bedroom that needs sorting, but I`ll be delivering some of it today so that`ll clear a bit. Might Henry upstairs later.

It is one year ago since I cleared LR mantelpiece and resolved (successfully!) to keep it clear (apart from the odd overdue dusting). This may sound a small thing, but in this house it`s a real achievement, it`s been a battle to train Certain Persons not to dump things there.
I have now, eventually, cleared top of LR dresser (for the tree, as there`s nowhere else to put it!) and this time I`m hoping that I can KEEP this flat surface clutter-free as well.
    Ever the optimist, me!
Have a nice day Messies. x

Results for washing machine so far. Had a call from the managing directors
staff. He is going to try and get my machine replaced under my insurance if not he said that he had other ways of resolving it.
He informed me that the part would not be in until the 27th which was another week on top.
Was a really nice bloke so maybe going to the CEO, worked.

Emm I have one room thats clutter free and its kept locked. We use it when people visit and at xmas. Its only locked due to the cats as Its one room I like animal free.

Went shopping for xmas tree. Threw the last one out along with the decorations as they were stored in the cellar.

OH back still bad. We went into the disabled toilet to put some spray on his back. A few people looked at us going in together what they thought we were up to goodness knowes.

    Take care everyone.
  • Phew! I`ve been busy since dropping OH off for the work do. He`s not a late bird at all, normally, and did a bit of grumbling but felt he ought to go along, but booked a taxi home for 10.15!
Littly-dog keeps going to the door -? looking for him? He`s never been out later than 8.30 since we had her, and the fire is lit and we aren`t all sitting here, she`s Very Unsettled! I`ve hedged my bets for supper, as we had a light snack earlier and this `do` isn`t a meal, it`s a beery gathering.
So he`ll either return starving or with bloat.
So....I`ve got a pan of chicken/leek/spud stew/soup simmering on heat diffuser, and I`ve made a stuffed pork tenderloin en croute thing. Chicken remains had to be used, so did YS pork.
We may have some of both, or keep either back for tomorrow.

DGD has had her school report, and we`re all delighted with it - progress, effort, behaviour - nothing but praise in the whole thing. We knew she was doing well, but it`s still lovely to read. And she`s so modest about it too, Bless `er!

Snookey, the WM progress sounds promising so fingers crossed for you on that one. Also your OH`s back, that made me chuckle - but when you gotta spray, you gotta spray!
  • My DH is on his work do tonight and it's sooooooo dull to be here alone!
