My home is a mess

Good Morning! (just started in time to say that)
I`ve been up since 8.30, postie knocked for us to take a parcel in for next door. Have pottered at nothing much, dark & rainy morning, very uninspiring and Monday-ish. Sun just coming out now.
ScaredyCat - Thanks for the link, I`m not really surprised at the stats on messiness, and it`s more than just need for a lick of paint!!
Snookey, well done on the sedentary sorting, and YL on the paperwork. FW, you are good doing stuff before going to work on a late start, wish I was like that.
Dibuzz, your neighbour and her daughter sound a right pair of trout. I`d be inclined to leave the wall even longer till they shut up about it!
JPS, I`m sure this week (my hol) will go faster for me than it does for you waiting for half term!
OH has suggested we nip out to pub this evening, so I`m going to sort out some clothes and not do my usual last minute thing.
Frozen items in thermos bag checked, still quite solid. Have taken a pack of fish out to thaw quicker, will take duck out tonight or won`t be able to cook it tomorrow.
Have a decent day all.x0 -
Emm, hope you are having a good week so far! You're right, although I do think this half term has flown by really. I am still struggling with some health issues so feeling a bit crap at the moment, just niggling things and the Dr is very good at sorting me out - but I feel as though since I turned 50 I'm falling apart!
I felt a bit irritable and hormonal on Friday, but I gave myself a good talking to and have a more positive outlook again now.
~Thanks for the hugs snookey, gratefully received!
I'm trying my own version of the 5:2 diet (low calorie on 5 days, normal for 2) but not too strictly. I have lost a wee bit of weight but am having norty food cravings tonightI believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

JPS, just got home from pub...supper dictated by thawing stuff, so leeky mash & smoked haddock - and SOONEST! As real ale does promote very norty food thoughts, I`m glad there`s a `must use` duck for tomorrow! Do keep checking in with GP hun, it`s the niggling things that we NEGLECT that get us! Hi everyone.
Emms they say medical people either are forever worrying over their health or ignoring it. I read that in a book Im reading written by a doc.
Went out today in the wheelchair oh huffed and puffed all the way to the shops pushing it. Ill have to have a re think on the crutches.
Jp hope you are soon feeling better and well done on your diet.
Alec get some rest sounds as if you now need a holiday. We dont have many people stay as I like my privacy . When his niece stayed it was so stressfull.
Well Im again doing, nought about!!! and about to have a coffee. Agh the good lifee,lol.0 -
Snookey, we don't have people to stay all that often and certainly not for a week! I doubt unless it's an emergency we'll have someone for a week again.
I'm still not doing much today, not sleeping all that well and I'm off my food a bit. Working my way through the massive pile of laundry and a few other things but mainly figuring out the finances and doing some winter prep today.0 -
Morning everyone!!
What awful wet/windy weather today, but weirdly warm too!! As i look out of office window i can see poor mr farmer feeding his geese in the orchard, they are enjoying the rain while he gets soaked!
I really really need to blitz the bathroom at some point today, but first i'm seeing a friend for a catch up. Must remember to put chicken in slow cooker too.................
Have a good day everybody!!
jxIt's a farmers life for me......:j0 -
Hi all!
Snookey, if your OH struggled to push the wheelchair you`d struggle a sight more doing the same distance on crutches!
FW, foul morning here too. Very de-motivating!
I nipped to farmshop for some veg (going to roast some fennel with tonights duck) and alled in Aldi for a loaf on the way back, ended up buying a couple of gingerbread houses as well. Have done another WM load, and had a bit of a tidy round, and got stuff ready for hospital check-up in the morning.
Still on `to-do` list for today -
Soak & rinse ham hocks for tomorrow.
Rummage in under-bed storage thingies for spare curtains, as DS`s ex is doing a house move soon and is popping in with DGD tomorrow.
Bother the thawed duck for tonight, inspired by Tom Kerridge.
Laundry tetris later when fire is lit.
Better get cracking then! Hope everyone`s having a decent day. x0 -
Bah - my home is once again well and truly a mess! And I have no motivation or will to do anything about it. During the week, work is so unbelievably carppy and stressful atm and at the weekends OH keeps pushing to get the garden landscaped (pretty sure I only agreed to a new fence when I was recruited!) before winter rolls in.
I think "relentless" is the best word to describe my life just now!
I'm just about keeping on top of the cooking/washing up merry-go-round with a bit of stropping and strong-arming to get OH to do a share. Cleaning is pretty much non-existent now. Laundry reached critical mass at the weekend and had to be done despite the rain so now we've got maidens draped with clean clothes all over the LR. At least this year we've got some heating so there's a chance it'll get dry before it starts to smell.
I'm just about managing to keep up with following all of your news but my brain is way too spaced-out to absorb it all! I know I should count myself lucky that I'm not trying to cope on crutches too. Hope all is well with everyone and you're all coping with your varying degrees of messiness!0 -
Sonastin, ((HUGS)) - cleaning is always there to be done (if you look for it) and, more importantly, it will keep! Well done if you`re able to keep up with the cooking/washing up bits, that stuff won`t keep, as you say that`s the daily merry-go-round!
I`m half envious of you having someone who sees outdoors as an urgent project...my menfolk really aren`t remotely interested in DOING anything in the garden. OH does refill the birdfeeders every day, and scoop the occasional dogpoo, but that`s all. It`s even left to me to organise Strimmer Man to visit. It gets more jungly all the time, and even a truly `wild` garden does need a bit of maintenence sometimes.
Well, today I`ve been up and at it! Hospital appt this morning, which was ok, then nipped into Lidl, got a couple of Christmassy bits, came home and had a good tidy and boiled/pickled another big jar of eggs. Now cooking the ham hocks, and considering taking Littly-dog for a walk while the simmering continues and the rain has stopped!
I`m half thinking of trying to tidy the garden a bit too, but the forecast is better for tomorrow...0 -
I'm still trying to sort my room out, I've got to the "why did I start this and how come it looks worse than ever" stage.
I've not been through the door for 2 days now, my daft dog won't go out if it's raining so no point going walkies.
Ironing is all done so I think it's time to sort my wardrobe out now that I can open the doors (only one at a time but it's progress)14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140
