My home is a mess

Good Morning!
Just a quickie to second the good advice from others - not only applies to Dibuzz, but to all of us. Look after yourself if you are trying to look after others. It`s not selfish, it`s more self-preservation! I`m going to soak my feet when I get home this afternoon, before I start on house etc.
Actually, the ward is lovely at the moment, busy but in a nice way. Have a good day all of you. x0 -
Hello to everyone.
Just nipping in for a catch up. I had a bit of time to myself this morning as DH was back at work and our guest had a lie in so I did a bit of cleaning and tidying round. I can't believe I almost looked forward to doing it. IT's felt a bit like my house is not my own so it was good to reclaim a bit! Having said that our guest is currently baking a cake so I'm happy to hand the kitchen over again!
Hope you're all doing well, off to read what you've all been doing this weekend.0 -
Hi everyone,
hope you are all ok!
Not been on here for a while, having a total nightmare at home which basically revolves around my dad and whether or not he's ever going to take a step back from being a full time farmer and let my lovely husband get on with it! Husband gave up a decent business to be on the farm full time about a year ago but is now wondering if it was the right thing to do. I'm stuck in the middle, i can see that my dad will find it hard to let go but we can't let things go on without knowing where we stand.
So, the house is a bit of a mess but i did do my ironing this morning and have just prepped the supper.
Ho-hum
JxxxIt's a farmers life for me......:j0 -
Hi FW, good to hear from you again. I can imagine it must be hard for you in between your dad & your hubby - it`s those 2 who need to talk things through.Hope the weather is treating the farm well. x
Alec E - You are not alone looking forward to tidying etc - I`m feeling like that nowlooking forward to my week off. Whether my good intentions will come to anything when the time comes is another matter!
Dibuzz - How are you? I do hope things have settled down and you`re feeling brighter, thinking of you. x
Well, today I`ve shopped (in the rain, wet trouser bottoms again, grr!), done fridge & freezer tetris, cooked for tonight & tomorrow, and got second load in WM now. DS is going away for the week to his GF`s on Saturday, so it`s nice to get his stuff done before last minute which is more the usual pattern.
Not that it didn`t take me a lot of nagging - I must be on form!
I also picked up the phone when it rang (I try not to do this on days off in case it`s work trying to swop my shifts) and yes, it was work asking me to swop shifts!! So now I have a long day tomorrow then an early. They`d have got me with the request at work tomorrow anyway, so at least I know today and am prepared!
So here I am looking forward to a Friday afternoon and the weekend, etc., like `normal` people. Now going to light the fire and start doing DS`s laundry tetris.0 -
Right Dibuzz - its time to start getting tough. Time for you to be selfish. Forget all these people around you exist... what do YOU want out of YOUR life? That is what you have to focus on. If the others can fit into that, great. If not, tough. It is your life and you have to live it in the best way that you can.
Sonastin, this is such good advice. Some years ago I was hit by really bad anxiety. I thought I had a terrible illness and was going to die, the symptoms were so bad. I genuinely didnt realise that it was anything to do with the fact that I was working 50 hour weeks trying to be top dog at work, as well as trying to be the best Mum to my young kids, trying to have a perfect house and be a "good" wife.
My GP said to me that I needed to find the strength inside me to change my life and fight my way out from underneath all the things that were weighing me down and making me unhappy. I will never forget that conversation - it changed my life and within 3 months the anxiety had almost gone.
Dibuzz we are all with you, let us know how you are.
Emms, are you 100% recovered now? Sounds like work are really piling it on. At least you have a bit of free time at the weekend to look forward to.
Well the house is looking better now the new carpet is down and the living room is nearly back to normal. As part of my decluttering mission I want to sell some things on ebay which I decided I didnt want back in the living room so thats a job for sometime this week.
Right, need to check my finances and sort out yet more washing.0 -
Im sure things will work themselves out Yorkshirelass and I bet your livingroom is lovely.
Emm I bet your looking forward to your week off . Remember your advice make sure you delegate or your week off will turn into chores.
Alec you must be running a temp , ENJOYING HOUSEWORK!!!!!!!!!.
Well I spent the day in hospital having xrays and another cast. its a different bone at the top of my foot to the one I was told. Iv a large piece broken off and another fracture + ligament damage. Doctor said its an unusual bone to break. I cant remember the name of the one he said as I was so tired from not sleeping. Ill ask my own gp to explain.
Six weeks of non weight bearing and then see how things are.
Iv ordered a wheelchair as I nearly broke my neck with the crutches.
Thats whats happening here so hugs everyone and take care.0 -
Oooh forgot to say hi to FW. Sorry to hear you are having trouble, I think its quite a common one in family businesses, especially farming where men dont really retire! One of our friends is having exactly the same problem with his father and their building firm, he just wont let the sons make any decisions.
Ouch Snookey, that sounds nasty. Hope it heals quickly. I have lit the stove to try and deal with the laundry mountain - its free wood at the moment so thats something. At least tomorrow looks like a good forecast. Off to see if my grumpy 12 yo has finished the homework which he has left to the last possible minute!0 -
Morning Messies!
Snookey, the wheelchair is a good idea. Not so tempting to put your foot down!
YL, yes thanks, I`m as `normal` now as I`ve ever been. In fact, probably better really because I`m now minus any worrying about obsolete organs that have been removed! I have a check-up at hospital next week but that`s just a routine thing. I`m not doing any extra hours, though some of my colleagues do, as I used to do myself. it`s just that shifts can get rearranged at the last minute sometimes.
Have a nice day all. x

Bad day, still helping neighbour, she said 'the birds play all night in the attic' realised the 'birds' are probably the dreaded rats!
I started to think about other evidence, the smell though better is still pretty bad despite endless cleaning; my cat who is an excellent assessor of rats/mice though too old to catch them hisses wildly by the front door; the night noises and the easy access.
Having got agreement contacted council yet again its a bad thing if it is true because of the impact on the attic. Looked online and felt sick.
On a positive note have started with a bit of painting though I must say my motivation is wearing thin.
One of the 'you are wasting your time' critics said that the place needed an industrial stripping and she was probably right!0
