  • Good Morning!

Snookey, whatever the outcome of the x-ray you should still take it easy on that foot as much as you can, might still take a while even if you`ve not actually broken anything. (HUGS).

Gilly, quiz & pizza sounds lovely, Enjoy!

Dibuzz, well done again, you`ve done loads. Neither of my dogs are chewers, but the cat roosts on DS`s clothes in his room and things are hairy so I have to wash his stuff separately!!

MoonJelly, welcome. Don`t be embarrassed here, we`ve all had things slide into `bomb-site` at times for various reasons, and there are times when you just can`t do everything. If kitchen & bathroom are decent take heart, it`s not the whole house to tackle - and go for `baby steps` and some gentle de-cluttering of the rest.

I`ve just done the `basics` this morning, still another 2 lates to go. Liver and swede mash tonight. I`m STILL wanting to thank that OS poster who shared the tip about doing swede in the microwave!
Have a good day all. x

As my daughter has both days off this weekend Ive decided not to go mad with the cleaning and tidying today in the hope that I won't get as stressed with her and her slovenly habits.
The bathroom will get a good clean this afternoon as it's damp and if I don't keep on top we get black mould growing everywhere but I think I will concentrate on my bedroom over the weekend and maybe help eldest to do his room.

  • Hi can i join in ? after loitering on the side lines for years reading your posts . I have finally bitten the bullet and taken the plunge to get myself sorted.

Working fulltime and bringing up two boys on my own and nearest family 230 miles away has been hard, and i am embarassed to say trying to be super woman has taken its toll, my house has become a mess and disorganised. But both lads are grown up now , the tuning point came for me when my son had been deployed to afghanistan doing my usual putting on a brave face to everyone whilst inside i was falling apart i went into his room . i used to smell his clothing as i smelt of him ( iknow that sounds weird) :o
I decided there and then enough was enough , i was proud of him and i wanted him to be proud of me, give him his home back
keep me busy at weekends and the evenings and that is what i have slowly been doing. encouraged by reading you posts :D
I never told him in brief phone calls and letters, but i think he knew something was going on when i kept asking him about stuff around the house .They like to talk about normal stuff apparently slowly things started to get better i am still along way off but i feel its my home again .

Moon Jelly and roobarb welcome to the thread. Everyone on here can relate to the mess and the stress it can cause but like Emm said its baby steps .

Roobarb I cant imagine what it must be like having a son in the army. I dont think its weird smelling his clothing as I remember when my children were tiny and doing the same.

Emm thanks for the hugs. I have a fractured heel that looks displaced, The walk in have put a back slab on until I go to the hospital on Wednesday. Iv got crutches.
The weird thing is the heel does not hurt its more the top and sides of my foot. Oh has go on at me over not going sooner and walking on it. Mind you it never stopped him letting me clean up.
My good jeans had to be cut for the plaster. Iv not a clue what Im going to wear as skirts are really not my thing.

Well thats state of play here and will limit what I can do. Mind you not always a bad thing ,lol.
  • Hi all

Welcome Moonjelly and Roobarb - you will find the friendliest bunch of folks on MSE around here as well as lots of moral support and some practical tips.

I am tired. Very very very tired. Work (both jobs) has been absolutely crazy this week and I am not sleeping very well, so much is going on in my brain. The house is a tip, I think the washing pile is now bigger than me and the garden is like a jungle. I need to get some supermarket shopping and there are a dozen other things that need to be sorted this weekend.

Sigh. Off to clear the kitchen up then sit down calmly with a cuppa and make some lists I think.
  • Hi Messies!
Roobarb welcome. I think you`ve found a wonderful way to get motivated, doing something for your son even at such a distance, and I can understand how nice it is for him to hear about mundane homely things. ((HUGS)) to you both.

Dibuzz, that sounds a good plan for the weekend - avoid conflict with the DD AND get a bit of your own space sorted! Hope it goes well, stay calm, OK?

Snookey, no wonder you were in pain! Now you`ll have to delegate - even if the rest of the household don`t do stuff the way you`d do it, this is a good time for them to learn. Going by my own recent experience, they can rise to the occasion when needs must, and it makes them appreciate what you have been doing - but when you`re fit again it all slides back to as before, not being so helpful....

Yorkshirelass, no wonder you`re tired! Don`t worry about the jungle - it`ll slow down out there at this time of year. Mine`s pretty jungly too, but it`ll keep.

Not too bad here - last couple of shifts have been quite nice, dead busy but sort of rewarding, several patients doing really well, and a nice burst of team spirit with colleagues too. Today I can go in slightly later as our weekend parking is a lot easier, and tomorrow I have a day (just the one) off.
House not too bad, kitchen floor still scrunching but will keep.
Have a nice day all. x
  • Is gardening........have period pains.

hope everyone's day is going well XX
    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • Hi Messies!
Buffy, I hope you feel better today. I was hoping to potter in the garden a bit, but it`s too cold and wet today.

Not much progress here at all.
One WM load(uniforms) after I got home from work last night, and a wierd supper from leftover chicken, with tired mushrooms, need-to-use-ups noodles/broccoli/red peppers and a couple of curling up slices of chorizo. It was quite tasty, but it didn`t get a name.....
    Today -
I nipped to Sainsbugs (voucher!) and snaffled some YS beef and smoked mackerel, so have had to do a re-plan and some freezer tetris. After changing my trousers, the bottoms were soaking... nasty!
3 more loads in WM, LR rugs shaken briefly in the drizzle, floor swept. DGD has been collected by her mum and I`m now about to make a fire, and do laundry tetris on fireguard.
Smoked mackerel, frozen roasties & cauli tonight. With packet hollandaise sauce. I know, maybe not the ideal combination but OH didn`t seem to mind when I told him....
I WAS going to Henry upstairs but got a bit carried away doing a clothes rummage instead. Found a couple of `missing` tops so quite pleased.
Hope youre all having a nice chilled out Sunday, whatever you`re up to. x

    I am officially on strike!

Spent all day yesterday working in the garden and all of the morning down the canal helping to keep the towpath tidy. This afternoon, OH wanted to get some more stuff finished in the garden but I had some office work to do and then I was planning to clean the bathroom. OH has just opened the door to have a rant because the washing machine went into the rinse bit of the cycle at the exact same moment as he was wanting to clean out his cement mixer and there wasn't any water pressure in the hosepipe.

So because he was so rude about me using water when he needed it, I've decided I can't do any cleaning - bathroom and kitchen both need water so I can't do it. I've finished the office work but I'll just have to carry on messing about on the laptop instead!

Sounds like everyone is on the up in one way or another - getting wee little bits and pieces done here there and everywhere. Even those trying to do it on one leg! We're just muddling along in basic tick-over at the moment. Garden has somehow become a major project... we're higher than our neighbour and there was always a 2ft path at the bottom of our garden down at his level. We're now in week 5 of the mission to reclaim that 2ft by moving a retaining wall. While that is going on, the house is most definitely playing 2nd fiddle!
