My home is a mess

Thanks for all the support it means a lot as I have nobody to talk to here.
I got the bathroom done yesterday and a lot of the kitchen going to go through the cupboards today and chuck any out of date stuff.
We have a small cupboard in the kitchen which we've always used for medicines, plasters etc. All my prescription stuff is in a locked drawer in my room (probably not needed now the kids are older but better to be safe) except my eyes drops which are in this cupboard. This morning I went to it only to find a huge spider on the door. Spider catcher son is still asleep so decided to leave it for now and make a cup of tea. I couldn't believe it when the spider imediately ran across the cupboard, down the wall and sat on top of the tea bag jar
Are spiders known for their mind reading abilities or am I just lucky? :rotfl:
I'm determined to have a better day today, I seem to spend half my life crying at the moment14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Morning!!!
Snookey, glad your DD is ok, but now get your own gait sorted - get that foot looked at if only for peace of mind.
Dibuzz, well done on bathroom & kitchen yesterday. See, I told you spiders are on our side! Hope you have a good day today, look for the good stuff there`s always something even in the crappest of days! (I`m trying to tell myself this too!)
Drags self off to work...0 -
I don't really know what happened but I went into the kitchen to make a brew and ended up cleaning the front of the house. Whaaaaaat?
Hope you're all doing ok today. Clearly I need a lie down.0 -

Well thats a bit like me going to put something away in the shed and ending up clearing out the greenhouse! Anyone else start one job and end up doing something totally different today?
So, done a half days work, taken doggie for a walk, made some buns, sorted the greenhouse and some of the garden, made Aloo Keema for tea and now off to give the bathroom a swish round.
Keep posting on here Dibuzz if it makes you feel better, we are all here to listen.0 -
Dibuzz the spider must want some company and a cup of tea, lol. As yorkshire lass said keep posting as we are here to listen.
Emm Iv an appointment for Thursday with a locum. tried to see if they would look at it today as I was having a flu jab but no luck. Hope work went well.
The majority of the rubbish has now gone but still some to get rid as his van was packed full. I now feel as if Im moving forward on the de cluttering -.
Im going to declutter a box tomorrow thats my one and only aim and if anything else gets done thats a bonus.
Alec the best jobs always seem to be the ones you get done without thinking about them.0 -

Not just one job and not just today :rotfl: It's almost standard procedure for me to have minimum 3 jobs running simultaneously... start cleaning the bathroom by spraying bleach at the mould and while that gets to work go to put the towels in the laundry. Go to fetch other stuff to fill washing machine and realise that the clean laundry from last week is filling the laundry baskets so needs putting away. Start putting that away and come across clean tea-towels. Take clean tea-towels into kitchen and realise dishwasher has finished so is ready for emptying so empty it. Put the kettle on to make tea and realise that I was supposed to be doing the bathroom so go back to it. Later return to the bedroom and realise there's a half-emptied basket of clean clothes to deal with. Which reminds me that there's half a load of towels in the washing machine which needed adding to.
Repeat cycle as necessary until bedtime!
And don't even get me started on how many started-unfinished tasks I have on the go at work. Main reason I never get out of the office on time is the time it takes to log off when I realise how many unfinished e-mails I've got open!
I'm actually quite jealous that Alec managed to finish something so productive even if it wasn't the original plan0 -
...Hello Folks, :hello:
Please can I join in sometimes? My home is almost always a mess, between lack of energy and a rising tide of dog-hair..
And I usually clear up after the manner of Sonastin - just looking round can see two jobs which got 'paused' yesterday when I found another task that needed slotting into my To Do list first.
This must be my spiritual home..0 -
I used to be like that Sonastin, now I make sure I don't do it as it drove DH insane! I hate having housework hangovers so if I can't get something done in a day then I don't do it and if I start something then I finish it - even if that means it's not a great job at least it's done and when it's done again it'll be easier to do. Far better than what I did before which was to put something off then clean it until it was "perfect" then be so worn out I couldn't face doing anything else the next day.
I've done a ton of stuff this morning. Only sat down for a cuppa at 10.30, which for me is a long time. I've done laundry, put dry laundry away, washed up, cleaned out the fridge, cleaned the bathroom blinds, cleaned the dining room, chucked loads of stuff away, dusted the main bedroom, cleaned all the mirrors, sorted the recycling and washed out all the bins. A few other bits and bobs too that I can't remember.
Loads of little bitty jobs to do this afternoon then I think the spring clean is done! Have a great day everyone.0 -

 Being too much of a perfectionist could be my downfall - seeing jobs that have been skimped on drives me potty..alec_eiffel wrote: »I've done a ton of stuff this morning. Am tired out just reading your list - can I offer you a job as my cleaner, please? :cool:alec_eiffel wrote: »Loads of little bitty jobs to do this afternoon then I think the spring clean is done! Have a great day everyone.
Umm; it's October. Do you live in the southern hemisphere (in which case, better ignore job offer :rotfl:)?0 -
Well, standards are very individual. I'd rather have a job done frequently and not exactly to the letter eat your dinner off it clean than done exactly to the letter eat your dinner off it clean once in a blue moon.0
