My home is a mess

Hiya, Can I join in please? I'm 21 weeks pregnant, I have spd and osteoarthritis. I have a nearly 4yo, a nearly 3yo and a 9 month old, my OH is in the RAF and has been in afgan for the last 3 and a half months (only 2 weeks and 2 days to go!) I've been finding it difficult to keep on top of things in the house, I really want it tidy for when he comes back.
I'm going to try doing it in 15/20 min spurts. The worst place is my computer table, its turned into a dumping ground for things that need to go upstairs and paperwork. I'm hoping that I'll be a bit more motivated if I've got a deadline.: DD1 23/11/09

Kat welcome. You have a lot to cope with. Im not suprised you are finding it hard to keep up with the house. Are there people who could give you a hand .0

Things aren't so good chez sonastin atm. Work is mega stressful and OH is not so much being supportive as finding ways to turn my problems into being about him so that he can demand my support for his misery instead. I'm bothered that I've become withdrawn now because its not worth talking to him about what is bothering me. So I'm busy coping with my carpy job and very much neglecting the house just now. Bathroom finally got cleaned last week after nearly a month which I'm not happy about - especially as it is such a small space to deal with! The upside is that I've got some annual leave booked next week so I can turn my back on work for a while. No real plans so perhaps I'll be able to get back on top of the mess that we're living in again.
Anyways, sorry for the rant - feels better to get it off my chest though!
Emm - don't suppose you stole your bulb from our oven did you? It stopped working a couple of weeks ago and today mysteriously came on again today!
Kat - welcome. Deadlines help bring focus but don't let them bring panic instead! Do what you can do and don't worry about needing to do more. I'm sure he'll only have eyes for you and the kids when he gets home anyway so it won't matter if you don't get it all done!
Dibuzz, Gilly - how about if I promise to get back on top of my foul mood and get on with something useful, you do too? We shouldn't let depression get in the way of actually doing stuff0 -
Dibuzz here is a challenge to get you going , find five things to throw, five to give away and five to put away. Ill do the same and will list.
I put the ironing away, exactly 5 items as I only iron things that really need it such as eldest's work shirts and pants.
Threw away more than 5 things by sorting out the recycling so bottles cans and junk mail.
I've got 10 books in a bag for the charity shop but failed here as I didn't take them. I got them ready put my coat on and went to the door but just couldn't do it.Dibuzz, Gilly - how about if I promise to get back on top of my foul mood and get on with something useful, you do too? Sorry you aren't getting any support, it makes things so much harder when you're doing it alone.
I know what you mean about letting it get in the way and really don't want to be like this, I'd love to get through the day without crying, decide to do something and just do it or go out somewhere without getting in a panic. It doesn't help when people think you "just need to cheer up"
At the moment I'm worried about my dog, she has developed a lump so I'm going to have to take her to the vet.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
snookey Kat welcome. You have a lot to cope with. Im not suprised you are finding it hard to keep up with the house. Are there people who could give you a hand .
Unfortunately not, most of our family live 2 hours away. I know its not far but MIL is retired, FIL is nearly retired, my parents both have heart problems and my sister is pregnant too! The only person who could help really is my brother and he works really weird shift patterns and often doesn't know when he's going to be in work.sonastin Kat - welcome. I'm sure he'll only have eyes for you and the kids when he gets home anyway so it won't matter if you don't get it all done!
You have said what he keeps saying to me, he doesn't care if the house is a mess. He said he can sort it when he gets back, he just doesn't want me doing too much and hurting myself.
On a better note I managed to tidy my hallway and move the bags of cat litter that have been lurking in the hallway since I had them delivered a few days ago. :j The girls are tidying up their toys as we speak, but only coz I promised they could hoover :rotfl:: DD1 23/11/09

Hi Messies!
Roobarb, well done on the de-scuzzing, and good luck with the rest of it. I try to keep away from mirrors when I`m on a roll like that!
Kat, welcome, it`s good to `meet` you. I`m sure your time is pretty fully taken up with looking after the little ones, and your OH obviously understands that. If the worst place is your computer table I`d say you`re doing marvelously well! I also think it`s great that you`ve got the older children helping, and if you`re using a timer you can turn helping into a bit of fun too.
Sonastin, it`s ok to rant, it`s good! If work is getting on top of you as well it`s no wonder you need a rant. Focus on that week off, light at the end of the tunnel....
Dibuzz, I hope your dog is ok. Let us know when you get it checked out, could just be a simple fatty cyst but you`ll only worry till you know. Well done on the `five things` mission, it all helps.
Well, I`m up to date with laundry, have put away dry stuff.
DGD is with us again, and about to go with her mum to dentist...I`ve successfully nagged her to shower/shampoo and de-dagged so she`s presentable! Why does she think the hairbrush takes a week off because it`s half-term??
I`m going to do supper early and cook for tomorrow night as well, as it`s a long-day tomorrow followed by an early shift Saturday.
Longer term goal is LR dresser, very cluttered but it`ll keep! I`m still keeping windowsills, mantelpiece and now computer corner clear, so sitting on my laurels a bit.
Kitchen is as always, a work in progress. Tops & sink ok, just don`t look at hob and floor.....
Bathroom is getting towards critical mass, but I have cleaned both loos & washbasins, the rest will keep.
Have a decent afternoon all. x0 -
The girls are tidying up their toys as we speak, but only coz I promised they could hoover :rotfl:
Is there anything else you need the girls to do? I'm happy for you to promise they can hoover my house too if you want to get some more work out of them :rotfl: I'm also happy to let the hoover my house if you want to bring them over... no way they could do a worse job at it than me0 -
I managed to get the dog to the vet this afternoon, she has a mammary tumour which is being removed tomorrow.
It will be the first time I've taken her on my own as well but nobody else is available to go with me. she wasn't too bad today though just one small growl on the way out.
The first time we took her they had to put us in a separate room to wait but she is much better behaved now.
I've done nothing today apart from a bit of washing but the recycling needs sorting for tomorrow so I will do that when I've picked eldest up from the station.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Dibuzz, you`re a star getting the dog seen to so promptly, ((Hugs)) - to you & the dog. x0

Hugs to Dibuzz and the dog. My little dog is really itchy at the moment, not sure why as he suffers with pollen allergy and surely there isnt any pollen around now? Will bath him and wash all his bedding tomorrow.
Sonastin, you sound really fed up. Hugs. My other half is annoying me a bit at the moment too, I just wish he would help more. I feel like we are on different planets sometimes.
Well I got up early to get a head start this morning and so far have spent nearly an hour doodling around on here! I am helping doing food for a party tomorrow and panicking a bit about getting it all done on time. It will be fine I am sure.
Off to have half an hour sorting some washing/tidying up before I need to get a shower and get ready for work. Have a good Friday all.0
