Yes money or something else he has lost, lol. Most things that get lost in our house are under the furniture.
  • hello Messies,

am SHATTERED and have hurt my back. Have moved the furniture round in my room. AGAIN.

I hereby declare that I am NEVER doing that again.

I am seriously sick of having to share with my pets too. too much too embarrassing at my age. :o:o:o:o:o:o

    any how moving on.

The end of the crap is coming in my room. A lot of the stuff shoved under the desk is going to the charity shop or is paperwork needing to be shredded. I have a VERY serious problem with paper work.

I reckon tho - tempting fate that one more weekend and it will be sorted out. needs painting but not happening till ermmmm hell freezes over!

still generally things are better although I have a stressful week at work and have had a stressful weekend!

    hugs all round XXX
    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • Hi Messies.
Buffy, sounds like you`ve had a moving experience there! (Sorry!) Hope your back is ok and the week isn`t as stressful as anticipated. x
Robberbutton, welcome! I know what you mean about lists - and mine are nowhere near the flylady ones!
I had a sort of mental list when I got up this morning but I`ve only done one item that was on it. (Take my chequebook back to the bank cos they spelled my name wrong on every cheque. I`ve had it months and only just noticed the other day! Embarrassing.)
I`m going to make soup soon, that was on my list too. Partly because I feel soupy, and also because I`ve got some broccoli that`s getting a bit tired and some stilton that`s ready to leave home if it`s not finished off soon!

Much cooler and duller today, great time for soup. Hot bread rolls, and a bit of cold chicken that needs using. OH not keen on meat-free meals! Last night`s lamb will get finished off tomorrow, and the apple pie will get finished tonight.
I`m going to have a bit of a tidying effort in the jungle (back garden) now, while the undergrowth is fairly dry. I got nettled again while picking apples yesterday so today it`s revenge!
I`m going to set my timer for 30 minutes and see what I can get done out there in that time. My little game. It helps.
  • Got some friends coming over tonight to watch the last episode of Breaking Bad, so really need to tidy up! Dinner's on the stove at least, and Mum's here to play with the baby, so no excuse really... except I can't seem to persuade my body to move... Out comes the 5 min timer again...

I'm trying running lists, with no due date, only a couple of things allowed, and nothing to be added until they're done... But I've had to start another list of things I notice but am not going to get round to any time soon...

And yey! DH is home early, he's pretty good at fast clearing up (although then I can never find anything  ). But anyway, need to get off comp now...

A timer is a good idea.

I've not done much at all today, I was up at 3am after 4 hours sleep and by 9am I couldn't stay awake so snuggled up with the dog and next thing I knew it was 1pm
Just couldn't get going after that so apart from making tea and a quick tidy round in the living room I've just watched TV and done some knitting :o
Tried to make my doctors appointment for 2 weeks today and it's book on the day which means a nightmare trying to phone them especially as I have a phone phobia :(

I might leave the house today. I feel it could happen but who can say?

I'm deep cleaning DH's dressing room today and making a start on the main bedroom. That sounds like more than enough for one day.
  • Morning Messies!
On the subject of `little tricks` to help us get through/get on with our domestic tasks....I was talking with a patient a few days ago while doing her dressing, I said I sometimes use a timer to `encourage` myself. She told me her trick was to get up with no plans and then `take myself by surprise`. Tackle something that she would put off if it was on a list or if she gave herself time to think about it first.I quite liked that idea!

Most of us go through a stage of thinking we are the `odd` ones, that `normal people` aren`t Messies like us. But when you talk to other people (not just on here, but in real life out there too!) once you confess to some Messyness so many others feel able to do the same! Ok, you do get the odd one who is appalled that you can even joke about things like cluttered drawers, odd socks, dust-bunnies/buffaloes, and manky ovens, but they are a minority in my experience.

Yesterday I set the timer for half an hour in the garden, but then ignored it as I was getting on quite well. I unearthed a section of concrete path that I`d forgotten was there, about 3 square meters altogether! It`s a bit cracked but solid enough, and hasn`t seen daylight for years - more like archaeology than gardening - once I`d started it wasn`t too hard to clear, all the weed roots and soil that had crept over it peeled back with the spade. Now have easier access to one washing line.
The timer idea really helped me get started, and I only continued for another fifteen minutes or so after it went off, too.
Today I`ve made no big plans, thinking I`d be stiff after yesterday`s path-clearing, so just the basics - kitchen sink/drainer clear, rubbish out, dogs sorted, LR rugs shaken outside....I`m now thinking I`ll get tonight`s veg prepped early then maybe try taking myself by surprise!! (Shhhh)

Hi everyone . Well I saw dd off this morning to the Lake district. Child free until Friday. House should stay tidier. I say child free as my ds is eighteen .

    Emm tips from youtube for dealing with mess ;

One min rule if it can be done in a min or under make it a rule to do it. Makes less work of the big things if we get into the habit of dealing with the little jobs first.
Dont organise sort through and discard items not needed. That way when you do come to organise you have a lot less.

They sound like common sense but we tend to forget when looking at the mess and can get overwhelmed by the sheer amount we have to tackle. Anyway thats the theory, lol.

Well done Emm on your decluttering the garden. By the way what did you unearth.
