Alec, your oven obviously doesn't want to be clean ;)

I'm just waiting for eldest to get out of the shower then the towels can go in the wash.
Last night's dishes are now done, I hate having dirty dishes in the sink but I'm always too tired to do them after tea.

  • Alec I just laughed at your expense. I'm so sorry.

But on a positive note you've made my morning more cheerful.

  • Need I say more than I made a pie last night and it exploded in the oven.

    Oh blimey how annoying!!

I did look this morning as I put my croissants in the oven (get me!) and think hmm. might need doing. However I am now assured it is a pointless exercise!

House still a mess, been weak and pathetic with a "not cold" and so not much has been happening.

    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • Afternoon everyone

Dog been walked, two loads of washing out on the line, bit of paperwork done for my voluntary job and now I have ground to a halt.

    Tasks that really need doing:
A proper clean of the utility room and office
    Hubbys book-keeping
    Garden decluttering
Filing and sorting the mountain of paperwork that is growing on top of the computer

Mmm, which of these do I actually want to do? Might give myself an hour to tackle the utility room first then see. I also need to find something for tea, going to the supermarket tomorrow and we are very low on supplies!

Have a good afternoon everyone x

Yorkshire lass your list made my head spin. Go with the easiest then work your way up I say or make a cuppa and sit down .

Emm,Dibuzz at least you cover more ground when you have big feet. Imagine having tiny feet it would take ages to get anywhere. :rotfl:

Iv got loads to do and zero motivation today. Iv just put some fiery jack on my neck as its seized up from laying funny. Just the excuse I need to avoid housework :j.

I deliberately bought an oven with solid doors (no glass) so no-one but me (menfolk don't notice that stuff) knows how grubby it gets! :o

And anyway, germs don't survive the high temperatures, so that's OK, isn't it? :p

  • Oven cleaning. Yerch. I've got one of those plastic heavy duty liners in the bottom of my oven, taking that out periodically for a quick wash, along with the shelves, means that I don't have to clean the oven as often as I used to. Mine was from A!di as one of their specials.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.
  • Mmm, oven cleaning. The only way (according to my Mum) is to do it regularly so the dirt and grease dont build up. But come on ladies we are just not the type to clean our ovens once a week are we?

Anyhow, the utility room is blitzed. The accounts are done. I have decided not to look out of the window anymore so I dont fret about the mess in the garden. And I have shuffled the bits of paper around so they look a bit tidier.

Hubby has promised me a shiny new shelf over my desk so I can fill this with crisp new lever arch files full of important paperwork. Every time I get a piece of paper in my hands it will go in the correct file immediately and my little office will be forever tidy. Now dont you dare say that you dont believe me!!!

yorkshire lass the important thing is that at least your trying to be tidy. I try, then fail, then try then well thats why Im on the messy thread.:D.

Iv put another load in the washing machine and soaked a mountain of dishes from dd room. Had to move dishes, clothes ,paper and toys off her bed whilst she was in it last night.
Have made her clean her room today .

Oven cleaning? Some days, when I despair at OH's failings in relation to the washing up, I think that the only reason I stay with him is because he brought a self-cleaning oven with him when he moved in. I can honestly say it is one of his best features! The only downfall is the shelves have to be removed and cleaned separately, but that usually only involves placing them in a bin bag with liberal amounts of oven cleaner and leaving until clean then rinsing off. It is so much easier to keep the oven clean than, say, the bathroom!

To give OH his dues, he is doing far more to keep on top of the domestic mess at the moment. He has been booking up my weekends and making me work in the garden for the last 3 weeks and I refuse to do any cleaning when I get home from work, beyond whatever is needed to be able to cook in the kitchen. OH has done 4 loads of laundry this week (perhaps because he wouldn't let me buy a rain-cover for my washing line so I said he must never again complain about washing smelling musty if it doesn't dry fast enough indoors!) and he's henried the whole house. He has given me time off from the garden tomorrow to do the bathroom as that is the one job he won't touch!
