Hi & Welcome, Thrify Fashionista! Glad to have you join us. Your question - which I mis-read as `TINY, perfect, minimalist homes` - made me think of a very dear friend, who is very minimalist now only because their house IS tiny!! She`s happy, but certainly wouldn`t call her place perfect or tidy, with a large dog and 3 ferrets as well as her OH!!
Well done on the de-cluttering Dibuzz, every item gone = a weeny bit more space. Snooks, I once used to have 3 hoovers just because none of them were really `right`. Then I saw the light and bought a Henry, and I knew there was no point keeping the others because I`d never want to use them again!
If my Henry `died` and couldn`t be fixed, I`d buy another one, no matter how hard up I was.
Off to work again in a few minutes, haven`t even got my shoes on yet! Have a decent day everyone. x
I know Henrys are so good! I got a pink Hetty as I thought it would make me smile everytime I hoover - and she does!!

Are Henry and Hettie that good then?
I have an upright Vax that my neighbours had, their daughter gave it to me because I had used it more than anyone and it's great on carpet but rubbish on laminate.
Until then I used my Sebo which is not as good as the Vax on carpet but better on laminate.
I also have a cylinder Hoover upstairs which was to save me carrying the Sebo up and down stairs when that was all I had.
They are all good in their own way but obviously take up room.
My mum's just been round wanting me to do something online for her so the steamer is still in the box so that will have to wait for another day now
Our new style recycling goes out tomorrow so I need to sort that out. We now have to save food scraps/peelings but they haven't delivered the caddies yet. We can no longer put peelings in the garden rubbish bin so there is much more for the general rubbish bin than normal and it's not being emptied for another 8 days :mad:14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
I'm another Henry fan. All the bars, clubs and hotels I've worked at have had Henry's too. Easy to deal with, lightweight, easy to move around, not too much that can go wrong. The motor went on ours last year and we had a new one put in, to have the motor replaced and the pipes and stuff cleaned out it was just over £70.
Although there's frequently hay all over the floor and quilting stuff on every flat surface I would say my house is what a lot of people might call minimal. I love it, white walls, simple furniture, splashes of colour about the place, a few selected decorative bits and bobs and a place for everything. I find it very calming and even when the place looks like a hay and fabric bombsite it's never more than an hour from being as it should be.
When my old house was a tip I used to say I liked having all my stuff around me but now this place is more simple it's nice to have the space and I rotate the decorative bits and bobs to change things around every now and again.0 -
O Boy I`s pooped!!! Luckily I finished the shift ALMOST on time today, feel so sorry for the colleagues on the late as the day was getting worse by the hour.... I`m on the late shift tomorrow, but at least I get a little lie-in first. And a glass (Or 3!) of wine this evening, if I don`t fall asleep in my dinner.
Caterina - Hi, and thankyou. I`m seldom accused of being `normal`but I`ve long since stopped worrying about what people think - apart from the odd panic blitz like when the boiler was poorly.... Re Ironing, I`ve not ironed for YEARS! Global warming, waste of electricity money, & time, and not necessary if stuff doesn`t get creased up in the first place.
Interesting (but not surprising) that Henry & Hetty are so popular. Mine even copes with DS`s room when he blitzes it before his GF comes to stay!
Dibuzz, good luck to your decorating efforts. I think of ALL the stuff that gets started and not finished decorating is the most disheartening (that`s why I put off even starting....)
Since I got home, I`ve put a load of dry laundry away (it`s lighter upstairs now!) that was hanging around indoors, and a piece of defrosted belly pork in oven with sage, thyme, and some shallots, baby plum tomatoes & a red pepper - strange combination maybe but stuff that needed using, I`m doing a Mr Slater!! This should take care of tomorrow`s supper as well, then after the early on Saturday I`ll have time to plan/cook the next few days stuff.
LR is tidy enough to be comfy, and it`ll get worse before it gets better.
Have a nice evening all. x0 -
Poor u Emm, what do you do?
I'm off work this week so thought the perfect chance to have a good clear out and tidy. Feel awful with a sore throat and cold - but today made myself keep going.
Have thrown loads of photos (of the EX) and got a bin bag of rubbish and loads to recycle (shoe boxes).
Listed more on e@ay. Got to get rid, soooo much stuff.
More to do tomorrow, but will keep going
Also Can get to my window now, Yay!!
Keeeeeeeep decluttering. (say in strictly tone otherwise I sound mad)

Hi TF - I`m a nurse - love the job, love the patients, just hate being short-staffed when the ward is so busy. Last couple of weeks have been daft!
Well done on the de-cluttering, sounds like you`re on a roll! I have the last week of October off, and am thinking of another bout of de-cluttering...only thinking, mind!0 -
Hi All
I have had a busy week, just tidying and tidying.
Day off today as going away tonight for a long weekend to Devon in the motorhome, so had to tidy that and pack it as well.
Started the day with a blood test, followed by the dentist and need a filling so booked in for that next Tuesday :eek:I absolutely flaming hate the dentist but this was a new one and he really put me at ease. I was with a private dentist and he got me over my fear, moved to an NHS dentist and did not like him - cigarette breath anyone. The receptionist was the final straw - heard her bad mouthing another patient whilst they were in the treatment room. This new dentist is NHS but a million miles removed from the last one so figures crossed I have struck lucky this time.
All the washing is done and line dried, have the ironing to look forward to after the weekend but I will cope.
Ebay parcels are posted
More bags to the charity shop
Airing cupboard is painted, just waiting the new shelving
Dinner was chicken and spinach curry with vegetable rice, but I am still hungry which is so not like me so will have a large glass of water to see if it is just thirst.
DSD is collecting the dog at 8 and going to give me a manicure and some waxing - so more de-cluttering done:rotfl:
Have a good weekend all
See you next week :beer:0 -

Well it's the thought that counts
Enjoy your weekend gilly, sounds lovely.
I've put the recycling out and the green (garden rubbish) bin which was only a third full so I trimmed the overhanging plants from next door.
Every few weeks I just trim them back to the fence, I don't mind them hanging over but it's next to where my daughter parks her car and she gets soaked brushing past when it's raining.
I was quite tempted to leave them after the way she's been lately but my neighbour noticed they were right over and I don't want her to try and do it.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Goodness Emm, Yes I bet you were tired. I have a friend who was a nurse. Such a great job that you all do.

Morning everyone. Well Ill list my hoovers, 2 george, one upright hoover and two cylinders. The thing is they all work. I think I need to go to rehab for hoover addiction, lol.
Today Im not sure what housework Ill be doing but will need to do some.
Sold an old laptop on ebay that the outlaw donated. Iv used the money for walking boots, trainers and clothing for dd school trip
The list they give us stated that two pairs of trainers were needed , walking boots, indoor shoes, wellies and slippers. That alongside certain other clothing. It would have been cheaper keeping her at home for the three days.
Well moan over will see other peeps later.0
