Sit down with a nice hot drink and relax for half an hour before you do anything else.

I'm always glad when everyone has gone out to work on a Monday especially when they are all out early as I can get much more done first thing.
I've walked the dog, I like going at 6am when it's quiet but it was still dark this morning.
I've started the bathroom and done 2 loads of washing, just hoping the sun is going to come back out last yesterday then I can dry it all.

After yesterday being so nice it's been miserable here today.
I didn't get the lawn done and the washing was still damp when I brought it in.
I did get the ironing out of the way, cleaned the bathroom and hoovered downstairs so not too bad.

Our smallest cat out of the four wont go outside although the other three do otherwise Id dispense with the litter box. This cat is tiny as she was neglected before we got her.
Hope work went well Emm . The comment on Stepoe made me laugh. I love the bit where he is in the kitchen sink having a wash with vim.

Well today Iv been to the shops for some fridge essentials and goodies. My two have been given a box each of treats and told that its to last the week. Im fed up looking for a snack and finding everything gone .
Will see how this works out.
    Take care Everyone.

The house is a flipping tip and I'm worn out already. I hate moaning but I'm just in a really bad mood today! Here's to getting over it and a good week for us all.

Do you think there's something in the air this week? I've been in a filthy mood over the weekend and all day today. My mood is almost as filthy as my house :rotfl:Almost - nothing is that filthy

OH's selfishness is getting to me more than usual at the moment (not sure if I've moaned at you all already but he has most definitely reverted to type once again... in a big way  ... and the worst of that is he's making a real effort with the little things to help out but the big things are still a major problem )

And today at work. Well, words actually fail me. I am so uninterested in my job at the moment and it is still really busy. There is some sort of bug going around the office and I'm seriously considering laying claim to it just to get me a couple of days off. I mean seriously, how bad must things seem if a stomach bug is more appealing than work :rotfl: Still, I have got a couple of pounds to lose :D

I am actually contemplating booking a week's leave from work and using the time off to finally, once and for all get this house sorted and cleaned and tidied.
[yeah yeah, I know that a) its gonna take way more than a week and b) it won't be once and for all because the dust buffaloes will move straight back in but please, let me pretend and have my fantasy for a wee while ;)]
  • Morning all. Work`s pretty grim at our place too Sonastin, so many staff off sick. I stayed a bit later yesterday, but today I`m in for a long one anyway! I love my job but I hate it when it`s like this....mess at home will have to wait.
Have a decent day everyone. x
  • The week has picked up with three pieces of good fortune, the best of which is the arrival of a baby child this morning.

There are currently men in my garden and garage putting in new gas lines and meter. Thankfully they were able to dig at the edge of the lawn rather than the drive so that's one less job for me to deal with afterwards!

Hope you're all feeling happy today.

I've managed to get the front lawn done this afternoon.

I was going to finish painting the shed but got talking to my next door neighbour and before we knew it almost 2 hours had passed :o
Her husband is in a home and she's not well herself (she's 90) so she gets lonely and I can never escape when she gets talking, she's lovely though and was telling me about how she met her husband and walking 20 miles home from work during an air raid.

Some things are more important than gardening and housework :)

Oh my Iv just woke up after the dog barking to go out. I stumbled onto the landing and put my glasses on only to see a blur. Id put my glasses on having already got contacts in. Thought Id gone half blind. lol.
Argh!! Alec whose was the new arrival. Love new babies.
Emm make sure you delegate any chores and rest after work. Hope it goes okay.
Dibuzz I love hearing peoples past history. Its so nice that someone takes the time to listen.
Iv not got much done apart from cleaning behind the machines and putting dishes in the dishwasher. Mind you the house has stayed pretty tidy.
  • Hi all,
I've been having a read through this thread and am so relieved it is not just me who feels overwhelmed by the mess in my house. I tend to hoard and am trying to deal with it but that has just resulted in a huge pile of clothes to sort through in the bedroom. I sorted out the mobile phone box last week and found parts for about 25 different phones and only 4 were complete!
I hope you don't mind but I would like to lurk here for a while. I have just seen in the paper this morning that many people would prefer a tidy house to sex and Eamonn Holmes was saying how he does love his wife so much more for how tidy she is. My poor OH has to come home to a bomb site and I would like to change that but working from home, having two young children and a teenage one who is even messier means I have a ton of excuses as to why I'm so untidy. I am so sick of feeling embarrassed about the house though and would love to feel I could invite somebody in anytime.

Thank you for this great idea. I spend an extortionate amount on snacks for school/work and don't know where it disappears to. Separate snack boxes for the week could ensure we all see where it goes!

That's so nice. Always really interesting stories too. Hearing those old tales was one of my favourite things abot working for Age Concern.

The baby is my niece, the first and only one. She is the pinkest thing I've ever seen, even my mum said "she's got a good colour on her". She's like a jelly baby!

Hiya foolofbeans. I know what you mean, I don't have any children but your story sounds really familiar. Lurk away and jump in when you like. I've worked my way through the hoarding stuff and am now generally tidy with blips. it can be done but sometimes it does look worse before it looks better so don't worry when you just see piles of stuff. As long as they're working their way towards to door you'll be grand.
