Well done Dibuzz. Im glad that you have your sons support.
Now that you have started with the sorting seeing that clear space should keep you motivated.0 -
Hi Messies!
Dibuzz, Well Done you! Your daughter did NOT manage to scupper the gas inspection, and even had to make a feeble last-minute effort herself, albeit a drop in the ocean. That`s `baby steps` for you!
You are now not stressing about the gas man so it frees you up to do things you can do, and that makes you feel better too.
While you`re feeling a bit better about things and what you`ve managed to do, please take a minute to think how to go on...you say you `do everything` for your daughter, and I suggest you take a big step back and start making her do stuff for herself IF she remains with you.
I know it`s not easy to put your foot down when you`ve been a big softie for so long, but I did actually take my own advice yesterday - I told DS to stay out of the kitchen until he`d got all the dirty pots, mugs etc out of his room and washed them up. I left the kitchen clean, sink clear and went shopping. I got home and found a stack of washed pots on the draining board, so count that as success. For now, anyway!
Yesterday I did a fair bit too:-
Shopping, fridge tetris, bit of tetris in caravan of Doom, one WM load (dried on nursery fireguard in the evening - I love the smell of laundry by the fire, moving it around before it singes, etc) picked some apples & committed Pie, and finally got rid of the mega-stew - day 3! - by currying the remains.
Work this pm, so we`ll eat late & easy. Frozen wedges, chicken & bacon (YS oven-ready pack) and steamed cauli.
Have a nice day all. x0 -
I think we all need to take heart from Dibuzz's small victory (well done btw on getting the gas man to the fire!) and stand up to the real messies in our respective households!
I am still in the midst of washing up wars with OH. I was giving blood last night so didn't get home until after 8pm - brought takeaway with me because it felt too late to start trying to name dinner. Found him sat on the sofa watching TV while the DW was still full of the clean pots from their overnight wash and the breakfast and his lunch pots were still on the work top. I suppose if he finds washing up therapeutic, he obviously isn't in need of therapy just now! Anyway, we dished up said takeaway and ate it and then he returned the plates to the kitchen and left them on the side alongside all the other dirty pots and the empty takeaway containers while I got work laptop out to finish something off that was needed for this morning. He promptly fell asleep on the sofa  I threw away takeaway mess to clear enough room to load the breadmaker but I refused to do the rest of it so it was all still there when I got up this morning. You can betcha that I get a lecture tonight about dirty dishes being left and how unhygienic it is  And if he does dare to utter a word along those lines, you can betcha that the dinner I make tonight will be something he doesn't like. Actually that's in the plan anyway just because I'm feeling contrary0 -
I've not done a lot today, my hands and wrists are really sore and stiff so struggling a bit but I've wiped down 4 doors which were looking grubby and one wall in the hall where everyone seems to put their hands as they get to the bottom of the stairs.
I've stripped eldest's bed but he will have to help me remake it later.
Daughter went straight to her room last night and didn't say a word this morning so it was peaceful.
Youngest seems to have taken over her moodiness though. I was so relieved to have them all out of the house by 7.15 then it was just me and the dog.
I'm going to do some more sorting out in my room in a bit, at least it's somewhere they can't mess up.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Good news! My (free) new boiler is being installed the week after next :j Just need to make sure they can get to the radiator in every room to fit thermostatic radiator valves - every room, that leaves nowhere to hide anything
I really do need to get a grip as I think DD and DS are so used to this awful level of messiness that they see it as normal and don't even notice it... If not seeing mess was an Olympic sport we'd all be vying for the gold medal...
Off to pick up wrapping paper from DS's birthday presents which has been on the sitting room floor since 7 this morning
Note to self: remember to remove washing from radiators before boiler installation, especially big pants :rotfl:0 -
MummyBobble you will have to get inventive with the clutter.
When we were selling our old house I had a 5 yr old, a 3 yr old and was firstly very pregnant and then had a newborn baby so it wasn't easy.
I hid milk bottles and washing up in the oven, dirty washing in the car boot and other clutter in the shed until viewers had gone.
Its also amazing what you can lay flat on the bed under the duvet14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Emm your description of the food you cook always makes my mouth water.
Glad your son is helping too Emm It seems that we all need to put our foot down.
Dibuzz see your still motivated can you please pass some of it to me as mine seems to have vanished ,
Sonastin men it seems always turn things around to suit themselves. They can never be wrong. If I was you Id make him wear the dinner if he says anything about the dishes.
Today I bought a laptop for myself and will be giving this one to my dd. Iv been winding my oh up all day as its the next one up from his. Childish I know but he always has to have bigger and better then anyone else. Its a man thing.
I dont really understand computers and to be honest as long as it gets me on the net Im not bothered. Im giving this to my dd as its heavy and robust so it might survive longer than her last one.
Oh well Iv ranted about the male species better get of my high horse.
Take care everyone.0 -
I'm not feeling very motivated today but I suppose it is still early.
It's deinitely a man thing. My ex always had to have the latest and best. We went out once to buy me a cheap pc as I could never get on "his" (which my mother bought for both of us) and came back with an all singing and dancing one for him instead.
I will buy the kids new things even if mine is on it's last legs but he will buy himself new and give the kids his cast offs.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Well done for not letting your daughter sabotage the inspection.
I have been standing up to the true messy in my household this week and it has been very useful! The double edged sword is that I am the messy, I can't pretend I'm not.
I still see this house as being my "new" house even though we've lived here since 2010. Does that mean I've not settled in? Hmmm. Anyway, the other house was generally clean and tidy, the routine was great and all that stuff. But I've never really got into it with this house and we'll often get to the end of the week and everything will need doing. I have no idea why.
So this week I've concentrated on keeping the floors clean - the rabbits have not enjoyed this. I've tidied the bedroom, dining and coffee tab;es every day and it's worked well. We're having a visitor arrive from Germany in 3 weeks so I do need to get into a bit of a spring clean *eeeep*.0 -
Dibuzz - "I`m not feeling motivated today but I suppose it`s still early" at 5.38 am !!! Thankyou, that did make me chuckle! x
I`ve had a decent lie-in, sorted the dogs out and had a quick clean-up in the kitchen. About to set off on another late shift, and have a little pork loin roast that I cooked last night while we were eating and oven was still hot ~(Thanks Snookey, but don`t other folks` meals sound tastier than our own? I often see patients looking at each others dinners that way, some even say `I wish I`d ordered that instead `...)
I`m doing wedges & steamed cabbage with the pork tonight - just discovered the wedges recently, co-op £1 a bag, lazy but quick & easy again....
On the subject of Menfolk, mine are currently being very good, but I fear it may be just a phase they`re going through...
Sonastin, stay firm about the washing up!
Have a nice pm all. x0
